Chapter 33: Professor Kettleburn (Asking for Recommendations)
At a quarter past four on Saturday morning, Matthew Wakefield got out of bed.
He put on a long-sleeved wizard's robe and put on his dragonskin gloves, and left the deserted Slytherin common room.
The Hogwarts corridor at this point was empty, and even the people in the portraits were asleep.
The echo of riding boots on the marble floor in the early hours of the morning seemed slightly permeating.
Just as Matthew was about to walk out of the oak gate of Hogwarts Castle, he was suddenly stunned and stopped.
Because a big yellow dog with a sticking out his tongue was half-lying at the door of the castle gate.
"Oh no," Matthew thought to himself.
If Mr. Tang thinks he is the kind of student who violates the school rules by "traveling at night", he stops himself and waits for Mr. Pringer to come......
Despite his valid reasons, Mr. Pringer could not embarrass himself. But if you miss a little time here, you will be late when you go to Professor Kettleburn's to report.
Matthew looked at his watch, it was only about ten minutes before half-past four.
Bite the bullet and walk past Mr. Tang...... But fortunately, this usually sharp golden retriever doesn't seem to have fully woken up today.
When Matthew walked past it, it was almost completely unconscious.
Matthew breathed a sigh of relief, pushed open the oak door that had been opened by a crack in the door, and took a breath of fresh air outside the castle.
......
Matthew left the castle and walked across the grounds, heading in the direction of the Forbidden Forest.
It was still bright and a little cold, but fortunately Matthew was wearing thick enough clothes.
The night is about to disappear, and the surroundings are quiet, all are silent, and the morning dawn is beginning to appear.
He soon came to the edge of the Forbidden Forest, and in the dark jungle, a chaotic cry suddenly sounded. Then a flock of crows sprang out, and they croaked past Matthew, as if sensing something ominous.
Soon, Matthew found a log cabin around.
On the door of the wooden house, the words "Sivanos Kettleburn" were written crookedly.
This is also the current residence of Hogwarts' Magical Beasts Conservation Professor, Hunting Ground Keeper, and Key Custodian.
According to the original book, this room should belong to Rubeus Hagrid.
It's just that the kind-hearted half-blood giant is no longer in this castle.
Where should he go?
As a die-hard supporter of Albus Dumbledore, he may have been killed fifty years ago, just like Neville's grandmother, Lady Augusta Longbottom.
Matthew thought crankily as he knocked lightly on the door.
Only a "squeak" was heard, and the door of the cabin opened on its own.
A dark shadow sprang out in front of him, almost startling Matthew.
The shadow seemed to touch Matthew's left wrist, and he noticed that the watch on his wrist was missing for a moment.
"Don't be a thief!" Professor Kettleburn's angry voice rang out from the cabin.
Then, the black shadow slowly returned to Matthew, and Matthew was able to see its true face-
A strange creature covered in black fuzz with a long snout.
"Return to the owner!" Professor Kettleburn roared again.
The little black thing, with some reluctance, took out a watch from under its fur and handed it back to Matthew.
It was the watch that Matthew had been wearing on his wrist before.
When Matthew retrieved his watch, Professor Kettleburn's voice rang out again: "It's a sniffer, a shiny thing, and I've tried my best to train it not to be a thief, but it seems to be a little unsatisfactory......"
“...... Okay, what's your name, kid?" his voice grew serious.
Matthew Wakefield, Professor. Matthew replied, glancing at Professor Kettleburn, who was still lying on the bed.
To be honest, this professor of the Magical Beasts Protection class, the current appearance, is a little hideous-
His three prosthetic limbs are all quietly placed at the head of the bed, and the whole person is lying on the bed, which looks like a "human being" at present...... In his only surviving left hand, he held a wand.
"Slytherin boys, you're alone?" Professor Kettleburn asked, directing his prosthetic leg to fit itself automatically on his wand.
"That's the kind of professor, Malfoy, Crabbe, and Goyle, who were all unable to participate in this after-school ......practice because of an accident," Matthew began to explain to several of his roommates.
Professor Kettleburn, apparently aware of the attack, nodded, and after the prosthetic was fitted, he began to get dressed again.
Taking advantage of this, Matthew began to look around the cabin:
Countless hams and pheasants hung from the ceiling, a fire burned in the fireplace, an iron pot full of things was burning, and a dozen eggs of various sizes were placed in a thatched nest by the fire......
And a lot of weird things, probably wizards who love magical beasts, are all this virtue?
......
"I suppose you haven't had breakfast yet, have you?" asked Professor Kettleburn, who had his clothes on.
"Yes. Matthew nodded. The auditorium opens at half past six in the morning, and now it's half past four.
"Then eat some rock skin cakes on my side!" Professor Kettleburn said enthusiastically, "Sit down first!"
Matthew sat obediently at a round table with a delicate teapot on it...... As Matthew was scrutinizing it, the teapot suddenly shook violently, startling Matthew.
At the same time, a plate of hard cakes with raisins in them flew in front of Matthew.
This is the legendary Hogwarts dark delicacy "Crust Cake", which looks a bit like a cake cut.
Matthew tasted it a little, crunchy, it actually tasted pretty good, and it wasn't as capable of crushing teeth as the legend says.
Sure enough, it was Hagrid who was in question, not the rock crust.
"What are our after-class practices for today, Professor?" asked Matthew curiously as he ate breakfast.
"A nest of vampires has appeared in the Forbidden Forest, and many poor animals have been poisoned by them. Professor Kettleburn had a pile of rock crusts in his mouth, and his words were somewhat incoherent: "I have finally gotten Professor Rozier's permission to find their nest; ”
Looking at Matthew's slightly discolored face, Professor Kettleburn continued, "Don't worry, I'm almost as familiar with the Forbidden Forest as I am with my wife...... You will not be in any danger with me. ”
"Of course, it's just an analogy. He added:
"Because I don't have a wife!"
