Chapter 34: Entering the Forbidden Forest (Asking for Recommendations)

Matthew Wakefield never imagined that he would be going on an "adventure" into the depths of the Forbidden Forest in his second week of school.

Despite being accompanied by a faculty, Professor Kettleburn doesn't seem much more reliable than Hagrid......

"Looks like you're well prepared. Glancing at Matthew's long-sleeved wizarding robes, riding boots, and dragon skin gloves, Professor Kettleburn commented:

"Wisely, I remember at the beginning of last semester, there was a Ravenclaw girl who came to the practice in a short skirt...... Merlin's beard, I remember when the day was over, the poor girl cried for almost half an hour......"

"That...... Professor Kettleburn!" Matthew asked softly, "What the hell is a vampire?"

"A very vicious and magical creature!" commented Professor Kettleburn, "about the size of a fox, with a pale gray tinge on its body, eyes as large as eggs, long fangs, and long spines on its head and middle back." They love to sneak up on domestic animals and ordinary small animals and suck their blood dry......"

“...... Of course, vampires are actually very weak magical creatures that rarely attack Muggles or wizards...... It's just that these bastards in the Forbidden Forest not only killed a litter of chickens that I raised, but also attacked a litter of rabbits that I released three weeks ago, which is really an unforgivable crime......"

Chicken...... Rabbit...... This vampire sounds weak!" Matthew thought to himself.

So this "expedition" should probably not encounter any danger!

"Take this!" Just then, Professor Kettleburn shoved a teapot into Matthew's hand.

"What is this?" Matthew was stunned, this delicate teapot was the same one he had seen at the round table before.

After taking the teapot, he could clearly feel that this thing was heavy, it seemed to contain something, and it was a living thing!

"If you're in danger, smash this teapot, and the little one inside will protect you!" Professor Kettleburn explained, "Alright, Wakefield, let's go!"

Matthew looked at the teapot in his hand...... Like, it still doesn't feel very reliable.

......

Since it wasn't quite dawn yet, especially after entering the Forbidden Forest, Professor Kettleburn brought a lamp with him.

He walked in front, and Matthew walked behind, and together they reached the edge of the Forbidden Forest.

Then, Professor Kettleburn was the first to enter a sheep's intestine path hidden deep in the black jungle.

The Forbidden Forest was dark and silent, and Matthew could hear the murmuring of running water, and it was clear that there was a stream somewhere nearby, and he could hear Professor Kettleburn whistling.

From the moment he entered the Forbidden Forest, the professor of the Magical Beasts Protection class was whistling in a frivolous tone.

And it's especially ugly!

What's more, Matthew also has a teapot in his hand, and he can't cover his ears.

After enduring it like this for almost five minutes—

"Meow!" came a cat meow ahead.

"You're finally here, little Tom!" Professor Kettleburn stopped whistling, crouched down, and said with some affection.

Then in the bushes, a cat came out.

More precisely, a cat-like creature...... It is a little larger than the average domestic cat, with various spots on its fur, very large ears, and sharp teeth, and in a sense, it might be more appropriate to say that it is a small tiger.

"Come, Tom!" Professor Kettleburn pulled out a ham out of nowhere, and threw it in the direction of the little tiger.

The "little tiger" sniffed the ham, picked it up with his mouth, and then swaggered towards the depths of the Forbidden Forest.

Professor Kettleburn hurriedly motioned for Matthew to follow.

"Tom is a civet, very intelligent and familiar with the environment of the Forbidden Forest, and he can help us find that nest of vampires. At the same time, he explained: "Of course, sometimes it's too smart......

As he spoke, Professor Kettleburn glanced at the ham in Tom's mouth with some regret.

......

With the cat leading the way, the rest of the journey seemed to go much smoother.

They walked a little further into the Forbidden Forest until they came to a fork in the road...... Tom the cat put down the ham and sniffed vigorously on either side of the fork, and soon he was in a clear direction, picked up the ham again, and walked into the road to the right.

Professor Kettleburn looked relaxed, while Matthew looked around curiously, looking at the strange flora and fauna with great curiosity.

Every now and then, a morning light spills down from among the leaves above.

By chance, Matthew suddenly saw a silver-blue stain of blood on a fallen leaf.

He quickly stopped and wiped his eyes, but unfortunately the light suddenly dimmed again.

"Hurry up, Wakefield, don't be left behind, know that there are werewolves in the Forbidden Forest!" Professor Kettleburn urged from the front.

Matthew could only hurriedly follow.

They walked past a mossy stump, and suddenly, Tom the Cat stopped, followed by Professor Kettleburn.

In the bushes ahead, something was moving, and it seemed to be large and numerous......

Professor Kettleburn's face, which had been a little grinning before, suddenly became serious.

Then, Matthew saw him raise his wand.

Only a few "bangs" and "bangs" were heard, and several ropes came out of the end of his wand and flew into the bushes.

Then only the roar of a man was heard.

A half-man, half-horse thing fell from the other side of the bushes...... Above the waist is a human, with black hair and a beard, but below the waist is the body of a horse, with a long tail dragging behind it.

It's a centaur, but Professor Kettleburn's spell has easily subdued it.

Professor Kettleburn didn't look at the taunted centaur any longer, his gaze still on the bush—

His voice also became stern: "Centaurs, you have broken the agreement you signed with Professor Grindelwald, and you dare to leave the habitat that has been assigned to you!"

Matthew noticed that the wand that had been in Professor Kettleburn's left hand was now in his right hand, the prosthetic arm.
