Since the metaphysical master He Yan and Xiahou Xuan, Wang Bi and others advocated metaphysics, competing and talking, and opened a temporary atmosphere, the scholars of the Jin Dynasty learned more metaphysics, because of the frequent wars at that time, the government/power often alternated, and people's sense of security was very poor, so the upper class society was very popular to understand people's hearts and make people open-minded metaphysics, such as Wang Xie clan, Chen Jun Yuan clan, Runan Zhou clan, Wu Jun Zhang clan and other famous children have a high metaphysical cultivation and are good at talking about metaphysics.
Learning Confucianism is to improve the skills of governing the country and leveling the world, and the scholars in high positions focus on the spiritual pursuit of the individual, and cultivate the heart to make it strong, so in the realm of "learning things, enlightenment, sincerity, righteousness, and self-cultivation", metaphysics is more clever than Confucianism, but when it comes to Qi family, governing the country, and leveling the world, Confucianism is more clever than metaphysics.
It is difficult to argue with metaphysics alone, and it is easy to mislead the country by talking clearly; and it is easy to learn Confucianism to govern the country alone, but without the prestige and morale, it is easy to be unaccepted by the scholar class. The so-called entry and exit of Confucianism, the inner sage and the outer king, metaphysics and Confucianism are each other, which is the royal road. Therefore, it is necessary to cultivate both Xuan and Confucianism in order to be in a high position. None of the ruling clans of the Jin Dynasty, such as Wang Dao, Yu Liang, Huan Wen and others, specialized in Confucianism, nor did they specialize in metaphysics.
