Chapter 36: The Vampire Monster (Ask for Recommendation)

Professor Kettleburn doesn't seem to be going to say anything more about the issue of Hagrid, the half-blood giant.

Matthew didn't want to ask any more questions.

The two of them and one cat continue to march along the path in the Forbidden Forest.

They walked for nearly half an hour, deeper and deeper into the forest, and the trees in front of them began to become extremely dense, and the path was almost impassable......

Suddenly, Tom's hair stood on end all over his body, and his whole body tensed—

"Looks like we're getting closer!" Professor Kettleburn whispered.

He pulled out his wand again, this time with his left hand instead of his prosthetic, of course.

"Meow-" The cat screamed deep into the woods ahead.

The cries were hostile, as if they were a demonstration or a warning.

Through the tangled branches of an ancient oak tree over there, a clearing could be seen ahead.

"Is that guy's lair here?" Professor Kettleburn muttered to himself.

He waved his wand, and the lush branches suddenly spread out, forming a pathway.

"Wait!" Professor Kettleburn was stunned for a moment, he raised his arm to stop Matthew as he prepared to pass, and muttered, "What's that?"

A white thing, glittering on the ground.

Professor Kettleburn's face suddenly turned grim, and he moved closer and closer to the thing.

"Oh, Merlin's beard!" he exclaimed.

......

Matthew noticed that Professor Kettleburn's body was trembling slightly.

Even when facing more than twenty centaurs before, the Hogwarts hunting ground keeper had never been so alarmed.

He also hurriedly took a few steps closer and saw the white thing on the ground clearly-

There is no doubt that it is the corpse of a magical animal.

Matthew never imagined such a combination of beauty and misery.

It looks like a horse, but its fur is softer, whiter, and shinier than a normal horse.

Its slender legs maintained the posture of its fall, extending unnaturally, and its mane lay flat on the ground covered with fallen leaves, white like the most precious pearls.

But it's dead, dead.

Only specks of silver-blue blood could be seen around.

Matthew finally understood that the marks he had seen on the fallen leaves before were not delusions.

"Unbelievable......" Professor Kettleburn half-knelt on the ground and took a deep breath: "It's a unicorn, it's a murder!"

"Unicorn!" Matthew was shocked, even though he had vaguely guessed something.

From the textbook "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them", he clearly described the "unicorn":

"Unicorns may be docile on the outside, but their personalities are very different from their appearance. Adult unicorns can fight elephants and even fire dragons, and they are so fast that it is very difficult for the average wizard to catch them. Among the many types of magical beasts, unicorns are also one of the most magical beasts in the food chain......"

But now in front of him, the corpse of a unicorn quietly appeared.

"The blood has been drained...... Professor Kettleburn said with a grim face, inspecting the wound on the unicorn's neck...... Moreover, the murderer did not leave for long......"

"Could it be...... Vampires?" Matthew asked softly.

As soon as he asked this, he felt a little stupid.

"No way, it's impossible for a vampire to attack a unicorn, none of them are on the same level. Professor Kettleburn shook his head without hesitation.

"So......" Matthew hesitated for a moment before asking again, "What about the vampires?"

This time, however, Professor Kettleburn did not answer, he just looked at the unicorn's corpse quietly, his face slightly solemn.

"Professor Kettleburn?" Matthew snorted again.

The professor of the Conservation of Magical Beasts class woke up from a dream.

"It seems that what the centaurs said is true, and there is indeed something in this forest that I can't deal with. I'll have to inform Professor Rozier!" he muttered, "I really didn't expect to encounter such an accident in this after-class practice!"

Matthew looked at the woods behind him with some alarm.

At this moment, he felt at any time that in the woods behind him, a blood-sucking monster would suddenly emerge and attack them suddenly!

Matthew had to tighten his grip on the teapot again.

"Mr. Wakefield, our after-school practice is over!" Professor Kettleburn said as he carried the unicorn's corpse on his back with his prosthetic leg.

"Shall we go back to the castle now?" Matthew looked at the dark path with some concern.

Although he had come with no knowledge and no feeling, he now felt that he might be in danger at any moment when he looked at the gloomy jungle when he was about to go back.

"Don't worry, I have a solution!" Professor Kettleburn smiled.

He raised his wand, and a red spark shot straight into the sky.

......

Matthew didn't know what Professor Kettleburn was calling, but he thought it would take a long time.

But they didn't expect that just a few minutes later, a strange animal would burrow down from among the branches and leaves above their heads.

A rather eccentric animal, it has the body, hind legs, and tail of a horse, but the front legs, wings, and head resemble that of an eagle.

The cold beak is extremely sharp, and the talons on the front legs look at least half a foot long, which is intimidating!

The bright, large, orange eyes glanced at Matthew, then turned his gaze back to Professor Kettleburn.

"Very good baby, get us out of here!" Professor Kettleburn patted the animal on the shoulder, then greeted Matthew, "Come here, Wakefield, it's a Hippogriffon, come on its back!"

Matthew hesitated for a moment and walked over.

As he approached the Hippogriff, the monster was visibly displeased.

But then, Professor Kettleburn patted it on the head, and it quickly became well-behaved again.

Matthew and Professor Kettleburn climbed into the Hippogriff's reserve, and Professor Kettleburn took the unicorn carcass with him and said goodbye to Tom the cat.

With a violent up-and-down jolt, they flew high into the air.

Matthew hugged the hippogriff's neck, closed his eyes, and burrowed through the lush branches and leaves.

Then, a vast sky awaited him!

They soared in the blue sky, breathing in the fresh air, and almost the entire Forbidden Forest could be seen......

Then, in the direction of Hogwarts Castle, fly off!
