Chapter 38: The Library (Asking for Recommendations)

Every Saturday, the number of students in the Hogwarts library becomes very large.

They went from shelf to shelf, searching for materials to complete the week's course papers.

Of course, this is not the case for Matthew Wakefield. Because all the course papers he needed to submit this week had been completed on Friday night.

But now, he still shuttles between the bookshelves.

"Matthew. Hermione Granger put down the quill in her hand, she walked over to Matthew, and asked softly, "What are you looking for?"

The two had already spent time together on the Hogwarts Express, and had met in the library many times recently, so they were already familiar with each other.

"Look for books about vampires. Matthew replied softly.

He also deliberately kept his voice very low, otherwise if Mrs. Pince was heard because it was too noisy, he would definitely be invited out.

"Vampires?" Hermione's face showed a smug look, "You've finally found out...... Professor Troka ......"

"Shhhhhh

"You wait!" Hermione swished, and was gone.

It wasn't long before she returned, though, with a huge old book in her hand.

"Give ......," she handed the book to Matthew.

"This is?" Matthew froze.

"This is what I asked Professor Flitwick to complete Professor Rozier's paper. Hermione was a bit ostentatious and said, "Normally, this book can only be found in the forbidden section!

"Books in the Forbidden Zone......" Matthew lowered his head and took a closer look at the huge book.

"If you keep making loud noises, I'm going to kick you out of here!" a fierce voice came from behind them.

Undoubtedly, it was Mrs. Pince, the librarian.

She held a feather duster in her hand, waved it, and shouted angrily at Matthew and Hermione.

Frightened, Matthew and Hermione apologized and fled.

......

Any book in the forbidden area of the library must be read with the permission of a teacher.

Professor Flitwick was the kindest of the four deans, and it would have been easy for a Ravenclaw student to get such a note from him, given that there was enough reason for it.

Slytherin's Headmaster, Horace Slughorn, is similarly kind, but that is limited to certain special students. Although Matthew is also quite "loved" by Slughorn, he also thinks that he has not yet reached that level......

Taking the huge book Hermione had given him, he went to a corner of the library, and he began to flip through it.

This book focuses on magical creatures that can compromise the safety of wizards, such as vampires, werewolves, and more.

Because the description is very detailed and some of the illustrations are extremely hideous, it was placed in the forbidden book section.

Matthew quickly turned to the vampire chapter...... There was no doubt that Hermione was right, and the description of vampire traits in this book was far more detailed than the textbooks and the materials Matthew had consulted.

After skipping the more familiar parts, Matthew quickly found something useful -

"Blood is a must for vampires, and it must be the blood of living creatures. Each vampire must suck fresh blood three times a week, otherwise he will suffer from severe nervous decadence. And the blood that is placed outside can't have such an effect!"

"Vampires generally have a special fetish for blood, and some well-known vampires will use powerful blood magic to achieve their additional purposes......"

"For example, the famous Hungarian vampire Elisabeth Bathory, of course, is better known as 'Lady Kamila'. She constantly sucks the blood of young girls and bathes them in order to achieve eternal youth...... It is rumored that at least fifty-one Muggle girls were murdered by her before 1611 alone. ”

"At the same time, there are vampires who are tired of Muggle and ordinary animal blood...... They believe that sucking the blood of higher creatures can increase their strength......"

"The vampires who try to reach out to young wizards are historically known as 'butcher vampires'. However, as early as the 19th century, in order to fight against these 'butcher vampires', some wizards formed the 'vampire hunters' organization and wiped out all these vampires. ”

"There are also vampires who have extended their claws to high-level magical creatures. For example, in the 17th century, Robert Kaplan, a vampire who had emigrated to Australia, tried to suck the blood of a Chinese fireball dragon, but could not bear the poison of the dragon's blood and died tragically. ”

"However, there is no evidence that vampires can suck the blood of high-level magical beasts or wizards more effectively than muggles or ordinary animals......"

......

Matthew's gaze swept over the text, and then little by little he flipped the vampire content to the last night.

He took a soft breath and thought for a moment.

Then he looked down and saw the title of the next section:

"Dream Demon!"
