Chapter 633: The Northern Netherworld (3)
Everything can be divided into yin and yang, everything that is moving, extroverted, rising, warm, and bright belongs to yang, and what is relatively static, inward, descending, cold, and dark belongs to yin. We attribute to yang the substances and functions that have the effects of propulsion, warmth, and excitement for the human body, and the substances and functions that have the effects of cohesion, moisturizing, and inhibition for the human body to yin, and yin and yang are interrelated things or two aspects of the same thing.
The theory of yin and yang holds that any thing or phenomenon in nature contains two aspects of yin and yang, which are both opposed to each other and mutually rooted. Yin and Yang are generalizations of the relative properties of related things or phenomena, or the properties of opposing sides within the same thing. The theory of yin and yang holds that the opposition between yin and yang, the mutual root and mutual use, are not in a static and unchanging state, but are always in constant motion and change. Yin and Yang, famous but invisible. One yin and one yang is the Tao. Dao: refers to the truth, the law, the yin and yang, the way of heaven and earth, the discipline of all things, the parents of change, the origin of life and death, and the house of the gods!
Yin and Yang immediately refer to the existence of two opposing aspects of Yin and Yang in all things or phenomena in the world, such as up and down, heaven and earth, movement and stillness, rising and descending, etc., in which the upper is yang, the lower is yin, the sky is yang, the earth is yin, movement is yang, stillness is yin, ascending belongs to yang, and descending belongs to yin.
The opposing yin and yang are interdependent, and neither can exist separately from the other. If the top is yang, the bottom is yin, and there is no top, it doesn't matter if there is no bottom, hot is yang, cold is yin, and without cold, it doesn't matter if it's hot. Therefore, it can be said that Yang is dependent on Yin, and Yin is dependent on Yang, and each side has the existence of its opposite other as its own condition of existence.
This is the mutual root of yin and yang, the opposition between yin and yang, the mutual root and mutual use are not immutable, but always in a process of growth and change, and yin and yang reach a dynamic balance in this growth and change. This change in growth and ebbs is absolute, while the dynamic equilibrium is relative.
For example, during the day, when the sun is strong, the physiological function of the human body is mainly excited, while at night, the physiological function of the body is mainly inhibited. From midnight to noon, the yang energy gradually flourishes, and the physiological function of the human body gradually shifts from inhibition to excitement, that is, the yin disappears and the yang grows; from noon to midnight, the yang energy gradually declines, and the physiological function of the human body gradually changes from excitement to inhibition, which is the yang and yin growth.
Yin and Yang can also transform each other under certain conditions, that is, the so-called poles of things must be opposed. For example, in some acute fever diseases, due to the extreme heat toxicity, a large amount of body vitality is consumed, and in the case of continuous high fever, symptoms such as sudden drop in body temperature, cold limbs, and weak pulse can occur, which is the manifestation of the transformation from yang to yin. It can be said that the growth and decline of yin and yang is a process of quantitative change, and the transformation of yin and yang is a process of qualitative change. The growth and decline of yin and yang is the premise of the transformation of yin and yang, and the transformation of yin and yang is the result of the growth and development of yin and yang.
In Taoist spell-casting rituals, there are often incantations, pinching tips, stepping gangs, etc., which together with calligraphy and calligraphy have become the basic means of Taoism. Taoist priests used to draw talismans and chant mantras and pinch tricks to perform spells to enhance people's confidence in defeating evil. These spells themselves have the cultural function of keeping humanity in mental balance and confidence in life in the face of uncontrollable alien forces.
A mantra is a mystical language that is believed to have an induction or prohibition on ghosts or natural objects: a mantra is often combined with a qi prohibition technique that uses the true qi of the human body to prohibit ghosts, gods, and foreign objects, and is called a forbidden mantra. Sometimes it appears together with the talisman, called the talisman, and the Taoist priest often uses some intermediaries when performing the spell, such as the spell water, the spell date, etc., and the water and jujube that have been spelled also have the effect of the spell.
There is a very high affirmation of the effectiveness of the spell in the Daomen, and it is recorded in the Curse Ghost Sutra: I contain heaven and earth, curse poison and kill ghosts, curse gold and gold self-selling, curse wood and wood self-folding, curse water and water self-exhaustion, curse fire and fire self-extinguish, curse mountains and mountains self-collapse, curse stones and stones self-cracking, curse gods and gods self-bound, curse ghosts and ghosts commit suicide, curse prayer and prayer self-determination, curse carbuncle self-determination, curse poison self-dispersion, curse and curse self-destruction.
Taoist priests believe that there is a powerful god, and constantly teach the mantras hidden in the sky, and tens of thousands or even millions of heavenly soldiers and generals will be called to serve when they recite the mantras. As a result, mantras are becoming more and more used in the Dao!
Mantras are widely used in Taoism: the Taoist method has the net altar mantra and the town altar mantra, there is the guardian spirit mantra before ascending the altar, there is a book charm for drawing talismans, Bugang has a Bugang mantra, the chanting preceding the opening of the Sutra Xuanyun mantra, as for the summoning of the general mantra and the Taoist book recorded in the heavenly generals and gods, there are also corresponding mantras. In this sense, there is no Taoist spell without mantras. At the same time, mantras have permeated every aspect of the daily life of Taoist priests, melting into their personalities. Taoist priests must recite mantras for washing their hands, eating, bathing, and getting a haircut. Not only are the Zhengyi sect good at reciting mantras, but there are also corresponding mantras for the Quanzhen Dao ordination.
Mantras are not a phenomenon peculiar to Taoism, and other religions such as Buddhism also use mantras, especially Tantra, which originated from primitive religions' worship of the magic of language and later became a central component of witchcraft. Taoism absorbed the essence of witchcraft spells and developed them, thus forming the characteristics of Taoist spells themselves!
This structure of the Taoist mantra first indicates that it is divinely bestowed and therefore also divinely effective. Calling the Taishang Venerable, the Divine Xiaoyu Halal King, and the Heavenly Master all directly say the name of the god to summon the gods and suppress the demons. For the lower gods, who are exclusively used by mages, they are called by their first names to show that they have the ability to control them.
Therefore, the practice of Taoist mantras is closely related to the whole lineage of immortals, which expresses the monk's belief and also reflects the monk's way of believing. However, invoking the name of a god is not a phenomenon peculiar to mantras, or even mantras. That's a sign of strong trust and reverence for God!
Therefore, the name of the god in the mantra shows the belief and dependence on the gods common in many religions, but the gods have different appearances. It is more expressive of the characteristics of the mantra itself in the following aspect: it shows that the mantra is a command to the object of the prayer, and such as the law, it is both urging and emphasizing that the order must be carried out, and if it is not carried out, it will be punished according to the law.
The content of the mantra is straightforward and clarifies the purpose of the command, which is a strong utilitarian characteristic, which is the characteristic of Taoist mantras. Generally speaking, the attitude towards religion is dominated by praying for the solution of immediate problems, and seeking peace is considered blessed.
There is a considerable gap in the kind of devout conversion to the gods, and it is said that reciting it during night walks can ward off evil spirits. But the words are actually a reverence for the god of the night. There are 84 important mantras in Buddhism, the Great Compassion Mantra, all of which express the meaning of taking refuge and paying respect to Guanyin, and 83 sentences refer to the name of the Bodhisattva. This mantra is considered by Buddhists to be extremely powerful and widely used, and the Great Compassion Mantra records in detail how it can be used to cure diseases, induce labor, relieve Gu poison, dispel snakes and scorpions, and so on.
There are many similarities or similarities between Buddhist mantras and Taoist mantras, but they are very different in terms of structure. The characteristic of the Great Compassion Mantra is that it is to ask people to take refuge first, and if they take refuge, as soon as they recite it, Guanyin can help solve all kinds of evil difficulties, until they lead him to the Western Paradise, and the recitation of the mantra itself is refuge. The mantra is to directly drive the ghosts and gods, make them go away or accomplish things that mortals cannot accomplish or even incredible, the actual purpose is the premise, and the worship of the gods is centered on the immediate interests of the moment. This characteristic of Taoist mantras stipulates that the scope of application of each mantra is relatively narrow, so the Taoist mantras have their own specific and extremely large number.
An enchantment is a form of formation that stores the mana of a cultivator. After triggering, it will form a defensive shield within the range of the formation to block external attacks. It refers to the use of some supernatural power to create a special space, to create another small space. The enchantment in the inheritance is mostly based on means such as the Five Elements, Tai Chi, Bagua, etc., and is assisted by charms, magic weapons and other items! Different people use it to have different effects, and the enchantment is also divided into a certain area according to the law.
The five eyes refer to the naked eye, the heavenly eye, the discerning eye, the Dharma eye and the Buddha's eye, from the ordinary man to the Buddha's position, for the investigation of things and phenomena from the beginning to the end. Some people call the eyes the door of wisdom and the window of the soul, and the eyes can discern things and increase knowledge. The higher the level of practice, the wider the scope of the mind-eye action. The distance and scope that ordinary people can see through the naked eye of their parents are quite limited, too small, too big, too far, too close, and too far to be seen by the naked eye, or too dark or too intense, and not suitable for the naked eye. If you have the eye of heaven, you can observe freely in the material world, without being limited by distance, volume, or luminosity.
However, there are also levels of heaven: there are earth-dwelling heavens, empty heavens, and meditation heavens, and earth-dwelling heavens are the gods of merit and ghosts, as well as the four divine beasts and the spiritual realms! The empty heavens refer to the heavenly gods! and the meditation heavens refer to the twenty-two levels of the color realm and the colorless realm.
The higher the level, the more functions of the Sky Eye will be. The function of the so-called eye of heaven is to see things that cannot be seen by the naked eye, in addition to not being limited by size, distance, light and shade, nor is it limited by concealment or transparent exposure, it does not need to be reflected by light and shadow, but the reflection or refraction of spiritual power.
There is a difference between the cultivation and the retribution, and the general ghosts and gods have different shades of the heavenly eye, which is called retribution! Because there are no physical restraints of the ghosts and gods, there are only spiritual activities, which reduces the obstacles of objects. The general spiritual medium, that is, the person who is entrusted and attached to the ghosts and gods, this is the heavenly eye that the ghosts and gods repay, and can see things that people can't see. For human beings, the practice of meditation may lead to the attainment of the Heavenly Eye, but the purpose of meditation is not to cultivate the Heavenly Eye, although there are other ways to specialize in cultivating supernatural powers, but if the Heavenly Eye is cultivated, it does not necessarily mean that the Heavenly Eye has been attained.
In addition to the above, the function of the Sky Eye is to see the events that will occur in the future. That's because the occurrence of any phenomenon already has a certain causal relationship, and because of the creation of a certain amount of karma, it will cause a certain amount of karma, and often the phenomenon has not yet occurred, and the power to occur that phenomenon has already been formed, and if there are no other factors to join it, it will become a fact that will inevitably happen. Therefore, a person with an eye can predict the future. The stronger the ability of the eye of the sky, the longer the future can be seen, and the higher the accuracy. The so-called accuracy means that Tianyan is not reliable, as long as other factors are added, the future situation may not produce his expected results!
