Chapter 18: The Potions Teacher (I)
On the way to the cafeteria after Charms class, Jon had been thinking about it.
The wizards of the Harry Potter world are not essentially scholar-type mages in the DND worldview, but warlocks who are born with the ability to cast spells...... Again, the release of the spells of wizards depends on their emotions!
This is also Jon Hart's biggest flaw as a wizard.
As a scholar with more than 10 years of scientific research experience, a good young man who has received more than 20 years of materialist education, and a mature man with a mental age of nearly 40 years old...... Rational thinking is already ingrained, and it's hard to change it!
Therefore, Jon has no way to change his emotions and let emotions dominate his mind like his classmates who think like a blank sheet of paper.
Unless a powerful wizard casts an Oblivion Charm on him......
But that's something he can't allow!
80%-90% of magic, including but not limited to Transfiguration, Spells, and Dark Arts...... They all relied heavily on the wizard's emotions, and when it came to magic, Jon suspected that he would need to expend several times the energy of others to achieve the same results.
Fortunately, his outstanding memory can shorten the gap in this area a little, so that he will not fall behind too much.
The remaining 10%-20% of the magic does not depend on emotions. These seemingly rigid spells are Jon's strengths.
For example, the Petrification Charm, if a qualified Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher sees Jon Hart using the Petrification Charm...... He was sure that Mr. Hart's mastery and understanding of the petrification spell was even better than that of most sixth and seventh graders.
Jon suddenly remembered that during the sorting ceremony yesterday, the Sorting Hat wanted to place him in Gryffindor instead of Ravenclaw......
At first, he thought the Sorting Hat was mistaken, but the real reason was that he didn't have enough talent in the wizarding category, and he didn't have the qualifications to become a true "Ravenclaw".
"What a shocking fact!"
......
At lunchtime.
Eloise Midgan and Zacharis Smith came over...... Both of them, like Jon, are first-year Hufflepuff freshmen.
Eloise was a pimple-riddled girl who looked a little distant, while Zacharis was a tall, lanky boy with a cocked nose.
"Jon, you've done a great job in Transfiguration class, you're the only Hufflepuff student who has made a match change......" Eloise said with a look of envy.
"Uh...... It's just that I've read the book a few more times......" Jon pouted.
"That Professor McGonagall is too biased...... Why does she only give Ginny Weasley extra points and not give you extra points......" Zacharis yelled as he opened his mouth.
Jon hurriedly motioned for him to shut up, then diverted the subject...... Fortunately, it didn't attract the attention of other students.
Zacharith grabbed a chicken leg and stuffed it into his mouth, "By the way, do you know Ron Weasley?
"Uh...... Attendant...... What's wrong with him?"
"At dinner this morning, his mother sent him a howling letter, hahaha, and we were all dying of laughter. ”
"So yesterday Weasley and Harry Potter came to school in a flying car!" Eloise whispered, "Sounds cool......"
While eating, I listened to the two classmates boasting.
"By the way, what's the afternoon class?" Jon casually asked, putting down the dishes.
"Herbology, along with Ravenclaw, Professor Sprout taught us...... She's the head of our Hufflepuff, but I haven't seen her yet!" Zacharis stuffed with food in his mouth and spoke a little slurred.
Eloise added: "Hannah and I have told us that Professor Sprout has been very good to us......"
......
At two o'clock in the afternoon, Jon walked out of the castle and through the vegetable patch to the Hogwarts greenhouse.
Professor Sprout had a lot of bandages on his arms, and Jon could see from a distance that many of the branches of the beating willow in the distance were tightly bandaged.
"Two mischievous students have injured a precious battering willow, and I've spent the morning treating it!" Professor Sprout's voice was gentle, and she was a stocky and stocky witch with patched clothes and a lot of dirt on them:
"I hope you don't do anything like this in the future!"
"Alright...... Now follow me to the first greenhouse!" she led the way, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw first-graders following her.
Jon didn't see the mandrake as he had hoped...... Presumably, that kind of plant is dangerous, and it is not suitable for them as first-year freshmen.
Professor Sprout introduced them to eighteen mushrooms, and it took Jon only fifteen minutes to recognize them all, and successfully divided them into two categories, one poisonous and the other non-toxic.
"Well done, Mr. Hart!" Professor Sprout complimented him with a smile and added five points to Hufflepuff.
At the end of class, she also gave Jon a precious specimen of matsutake mushrooms, a fungus of high potions value.
......
The last class of the first day of school had Jon in a bit of trouble.
This final lesson was Professor Severus-Snape's Potions class, which Hufflepuff took with Slytherin.
There was a lot of time to follow Professor Sprout to pick up the specimen of the matsutake mushroom and put it in the Hufflepuff common room...... By the time he hurried to the Potions classroom, he was already three minutes late.
“...... Even stop death - but there has to be one thing, and that is that you are not the kind of stupid fools I often meet. Snape's trademark greasy voice came from inside the door.
"I'm sorry, Professor!" Jon pushed the door open.
"Jon Hart?" Snape glanced at the roster in his hand, then gave him a cold look.
Snape's eyes, cold and hollow, remind you of two dark tunnels.
"Yes, Professor. Jon nodded.
"I was late for the first Potions class, I think this is the first time I've seen it in my more than ten years of teaching!" Snape said contemptuously, "Even Mr. Potter, who has always been proud of breaking the school rules, has never done anything like this!"
