Chapter 25: The Eve of Halloween (Part I)
At Hogwarts, time flies.
As the weather gets colder, October is coming...... A wet chill seemed to permeate the entire castle, and a cold began to spread among the students and teachers.
Madam Pomfrey had Professor Snape prepare a pick-me-up that would cause his whole head to catch fire and steam out, but the cold was quickly cured.
Jon had been feeding the two South African spiders a tranquilizer given to him by Professor Kettleburn.
They looked much better, though it wasn't clear if it was the potion or if the basilisk had stopped being active at Hogwarts for a while.
......
In fact, after the first Sunday, Jon Hart rarely acted alone in Hogwarts castles.
Every morning and evening, I followed a group of first-year Hufflepuff students in and out of the common room.
There's no way a basilisk can attack people in the castle in broad daylight, and there's no way to get into the two barrels at the entrance to the Hufflepuff common room, right?
The kitchen rarely goes again, basically once a week or two...... Luckily, Klein and the other house-elves eagerly stuffed his pockets with snacks, which was more than enough for a week.
The time spent practicing mantras in the Room of Requirement was also greatly shortened, and he usually only went there at noon and when there was no class.
The practice of the Eye Disease Spell is progressing quite well, he can now easily smash the eyes of the moving dummy with a spell, but he doesn't know how effective the actual combat is; the Occlumency Technique has encountered a lot of trouble, as if there is no progress, strictly speaking, he doesn't know how far he has practiced the Occlumency Spell, after all, there is no activity dummy that can release the "Regent Mind" in the Room of Requirement.
The normal course continues.
The Transfiguration class was still the same, his performance was not very impressive, and the best student was Ginny Weasley, who could now turn a teapot into a mouse, and Professor McGonagall was full of praise for her.
Jon had been avoiding getting too close to Miss Weasley, who might have thought his name was John-Hat.
Colin Creevey and Miss Weasley had a good relationship, they often whispered together during class, and Jon couldn't help but mourn in his heart for the short Gryffindor boy.
The Charms class was about the same level as Transfiguration, the middle and upper grades of the class, and Professor Flitwick had recently been teaching them the Levitation Charm, and it took Jon about a week to cast it.
The herbology class was quite good, and Professor Sprout admired him...... However, the first-year students were not really able to take practical lessons, and Professor Sprout only taught them how to distinguish between a wrinkled fig and a scaphoid aconitum, and introduced them to dangerous plants such as devil's webs and mandrakes.
Not to mention the Potions class, the potions he and Astoria had been so successful in each class that a teacher who was mean and eccentric enough to Snape couldn't help but praise him a few times.
"You're probably the only non-Slytherin student to have been praised by Professor Snape!" said Hufflepuff Prefect Gabriel Truman excitedly upon hearing the news.
"Definitely not...... At least the second......" Jon thought to himself.
Defence Against the Dark Arts class was still a farce, and Professor Lockhart told the students to read aloud from his book in turn.
At the climax, he invites a pretty Ravenclaw girl named Melinda Bobin to perform with him.
As a result of the habit he had developed in his previous life, Jon would listen carefully to every class until the professor announced that he was leaving.
......
It's almost a blink of an eye, and October is coming to an end.
Jon knew very well that the peaceful life at Hogwarts would not last long.
"The Forgetting Potion is probably the deepest potion you'll ever need to learn in your first year!" Professor Snape's icy voice echoed every corner of the classroom on the last day of October, in the Potions classroom, "To be honest, I don't have any confidence that you'll succeed in configuring it now, I just hope you don't fail too stupidly!"
As she spoke, there was a loud thud, and Madeleine-Yaxley's cauldron exploded.
"Idiot!" Snape roared, waving his wand and sweeping away the potion that had been spilled on the ground.
"Didn't I remind you that you should add sneezing grass before you can add the feathers of the Soundbird? I don't know how you got into my academy!"
Ignoring Madeleine, who was crying, he turned his gaze to the first row.
Looking at the muddy mixture in Jon and Astoria's cauldron, he smiled contemptuously, "It seems that Mr. Hart and Miss Greengrass don't succeed every time!"
"No...... Professor!" Astoria plucked up her courage and looked up and said, "We haven't added licorice yet. β
As she spoke, Jon had poured a small vial of dark green liquid into the cauldron...... I saw that the crucible quickly changed violently, and the muddy mixture began to dissolve little by little, and finally there was only an emerald green pure liquid in the whole pot.
"Dry ...... Not bad......" Snape said dryly, and walked away.
Astoria hurriedly got up and went to the last row to comfort Madeleine, who was silently crying there.
Jon quickly packed his things and rushed to the Room of Need, before it was dark.
......
Flipping through the thick copy of the "Advanced Elixir" that seemed to be moldy, he felt that he was now capable of trying some of the potions in it.
And it's necessary to give it a try.,After all, according to the original book.γThe protagonist trio should go to the library to borrow this book in a few days.,So I'll have to return the book in the next two days.γ
He flipped to the page describing "Polyjuice Decoction":
The illustration above depicts several people who are transforming into other people, and their faces are extremely painful.
Lacewings, leeches, weeds and ampleworms...... These materials are readily available and are available in student lockers.
There are also the horns of a two-horned beast ground into powder, and fragments of the snakeskin of an African tree snake...... These two materials were out of his reach.
However, the solution has already been figured out, just find the owl of the school and write a letter to the potions material store in Diagon Alley to buy a little...... Hopefully the price isn't too expensive.
However, the dragon's liver is only worth seventeen sike, could it be that the snakeskin can be more expensive than the dragon's liver?
The liquid grass should be harvested on the day of the full moon, and the lacewings should be boiled for twenty days......
If you're lucky, you should be able to return to Southampton with the finished conoction before the Christmas break......
