Chapter 123: Ancient Runi (Part 1)
An hour later, following a group of Hufflepuff students, Jon walked out of the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom with a serious expression.
A few of my classmates were excitedly discussing what Moody's had just said in class:
"Sure enough, Professor Moody is really knowledgeable!"
"I really didn't expect that we would be able to know and understand the dark arts so closely!"
"If the Ministry of Magic knew what we were studying, would it trouble Professor Moody and Professor Dumbledore?"
......
Ignoring their whispers, Jon fell into silent thought.
From the lesson just now, Jon had vaguely guessed something.
In that case, you need to know something about the dark arts!
There is no doubt that as a Death Eater trusted by Voldemort, Moody (Barty Crouch Jr.) is really good at the dark arts!
If you're really trying to learn about dark magic, he's a good teacher!
It's a pity that I'd better keep a little distance from him just to be on the safe side, otherwise it wouldn't be fun if something happened and I got caught in a Imperius curse or something...... And judging from Dumbledore's performance, he has also suspected Moody, and everything should be under the control of the Headmaster.
In addition, all the books about the dark arts in the library were hidden by Dumbledore many years ago.
As a young wizard from a non-pure-blood wizard family, it is still too difficult to really get in touch with the knowledge of dark arts.
Let's wait and see!
Grab a bite to eat at the restaurant and head back to the Hufflepuff common room -
Jon was surprised to find that Zacharis-Smith was actually reading a book in the common room.
"The sun is coming out of the west?" Jon leaned over with some curiosity.
Zacharis triumphantly flipped the book over in his hand and showed Jon the title: A Guide to Cutting-Edge Transfiguration.
"How did you get the book?" asked Jon in surprise.
"I borrowed it from the library!" Zacharis said excitedly, "I lied to Hagrid's stupid big guy about borrowing a book about Fantastic Beasts, and he signed it for me without even reading the IOU, and I borrowed it from Mrs. Pince!"
"Are you really going to practice how to become an Animagus?" Jon had already guessed Zacharis's purpose.
"Of course!"
...... Unfortunately, Zacharis's enthusiasm lasted only fifteen minutes.
When several members of the Hufflepuff Quidditch team found him, he tossed the forbidden book to Jon.
"It's too complicated!" he complained, "I've never seen such a complex Transfiguration, the process alone will take more than a year, and at least five high-grade potions have to be formulated, I swear I can't match any of them!"
"And your plan to infiltrate the girls' bathroom, which lasted so long, was abandoned?" Jon joked.
"That's right, give up!" Zacharis shook his head and stood up, "I'm going to fight Quidditch...... Jon, if you go to the library, drop by and help me return the book to Mrs. Hooch. ”
"Okay, leave it to me!" Jon picked up the Cutting-Edge Transfiguration Guide that Zacharis had thrown aside, and slipped it into his backpack.
"Thanks!"
......
Zachares-Smith has no classes in the afternoons and can go to the Quidditch pitch to let himself go.
Jon, however, still had an ancient rune lesson to attend, and after resting in the common room, he hurried to the third floor of the castle.
This course sounds quite boring from the name, so the number of electives in it is much smaller than that of other courses.
The two houses, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw, with a combined number of no more than a dozen students, sat quietly in the classroom.
Jon found a seat and sat down.
"Hello!" In the front row, a light blonde Ravenclaw girl with waist-length hair turned around and winked at him softly, "Jon Hart?"
"Yes, Miss Lovegood!" Jon smiled and nodded.
"I noticed you in the Defence Against the Dark Arts class in the morning!" Luna whispered, "You seem to be bothered by something?"
"Maybe!" Jon mumbled off the subject, "Maybe it's been a busy time lately...... By the way, you actually took this course as well?"
"Of course!" said Luna, beaming, "My mother told me...... If you turn these ancient spells upside down, you'll see that they're actually an ancient spell! ”
"Really?" said Jon, a little embarrassed.
Chatting with Luna Lovegood is a struggle because it's hard to keep up with her mind.
In a sense, her thinking is too wild!
Until the magic teacher, Professor Bussida Babling, walked into the classroom.
"I always feel like the smell of your body is familiar...... Luna sniffed vigorously, then turned around slowly and opened her textbook.
......
Professor Bussida Barblin is a very young witch, she looks to be in her twenties, but her clothes are somewhat plain, even sloppy.
He was dressed in a black robe that seemed to be a little discolored, and his face was wearing a pair of thick black-rimmed glasses.
Professor Babling sat down on the podium and pulled out the roster to begin the roll call, which was soon completed due to the small number of students.
"Welcome to the first Ancient Runi lesson!" Professor Barburing's voice was crisp, "Many students think that this class is just learning a useless ancient text, and that it is not magic at all...... I hope you don't think so, but now, open your books!"
Jon opened his catalogue of Magical Word Sheets, and he froze.
In the inconspicuous corner of the book's table of contents, a man hanged upside down with his hands tied behind his back is depicted, with a faint glow on his head.
"It's ......" Jon had opened the Magic Word Chart several times before, never noticing this detail.
"Turn to page three, please!" Professor Babling said without question, "It's a very controversial topic about the origins of magic...... However, the most convincing theory in the history of magic is that modern magic originated in ancient Norse magic!"
"Ancient Norse magic has been largely lost, but their writing has been preserved, the Runi ...... We have reason to believe that some traces of ancient magic can be deduced from the text!" Professor Babling paused, and continued, "As an ancient Norse poem on page 3 of your textbook describes—"
"Hanging from a windswept tree for nine nights in a row,
stabbed with a spear;
I was sacrificed to Odin,
Sacrifice yourself to yourself,
On a tree that no one knows!
There is no bread to satisfy hunger, no drop of water to quench thirst.
Only mysterious texts, falling from the trees,
I looked down, picking up the runi script,
Shouting while picking up, it fills my heart......"
