Volume 2 Plane Battle Chapter 191 The Battle of Buddha and Demons
The demon king Bo Xun happily thought that the Buddha had a heart of retreat, but he didn't think about it, and the Buddha sat under the Bodhi tree and entered meditation, and saw the stars and became enlightened. At this time, the demon king Bo Xun was completely panicked, and he tried countless methods, but the Buddha was unmoved, and dispersed all the demon armies with the light of enlightenment and wisdom.
Bo Shun knew he was defeated, but he didn't give up. When the Buddha established the Sangha, Bo Xun also tempted the Buddha's disciples to harm the Buddha and the Dharma, but the Buddha repelled them one by one.
It wasn't until the forty-ninth year of the Buddha's life that Bo Xun came to persuade the Buddha to perish. What the Buddha realized was the method of "dependent arising", and all dharmas are born due to karma, and they will also be destroyed due to karma, and the bad Buddha is also a part of "dependent arising". So the Buddha agreed to Bo Chen's request to manifest nirvana and perish in this world!
In the Buddhist scriptures, there is a dialogue between Shakyamuni Buddha and the demon king Bo Xun, which is very classic and intriguing! Through this dialogue, we may be able to have a deeper understanding and reflection on the current situation and future of Buddhism.
The master Shakyamuni Buddha was alive, and he preached the scriptures and teachings for 49 years, saving countless people. The demon king Bo Xun saw it in his eyes and hated it in his heart, so one day he came to see Shakyamuni Buddha and asked the Buddha to hurry up and become nirvana: "You have saved so many people, you can become nirvana." ”
The Buddha realized that his fate with the sentient beings had arrived, and he agreed to Bo Xun's request. In this process, Shakyamuni Buddha and the demon king Bo Shun have the following dialogue, which roughly means this.
The Demon King Bo Shun said, "After you attain Nirvana, I will definitely destroy your Dharma. The Buddha said, "The Dharma is the Dharma, what power do you have to destroy it?" and the Demon King Bo Xun said, "Hehe, justice will always exist, and evil will not disappear."
There are both good and evil in the world, and there are many of my disciples and grandchildren? Even if you preach the Fa, aren't there many people who don't believe in you? Human nature is inherently evil, and it is easy to learn bad and difficult to learn.
After you are destroyed, there will be more and more followers of me, and there will be fewer and fewer people who believe in you. The Buddha said, "What good is it for you to destroy my Dharma? The Buddha's light is the light that shines on the good and the evil like you."
If the Fa-rectification era is over, your good fortune will be over, and what awaits you will be the Infernal Hell, where you will suffer immeasurable suffering. Demon King Bo Xun: "I know that the Buddha does not lie, but you also know that the Buddha is made by the heart. I'll try to avoid hell. ”
The Buddha said, "If you do too much injustice, you will kill yourself, where can you avoid it!" Demon King Bo Xun: "The saint is impermanent, and he takes the heart of the people as his heart." Bo Xun is also impermanent, and takes the hearts of the people as his heart. In terms of conforming to the people, Buddha, you are not as good as me.
Thou hast been very disciplined, emphasizing the dangers of greed and teaching people to stay away from it. And I conform to the desires of the people and satisfy the desires of the people. Sentient beings have no greed, where is my Bo Xun?"
The Buddha said, "I have sutras left behind. Demon King Bo Xun: "The classics are dead words, and if you want to educate sentient beings, you still need people to interpret them." ”
The Buddha said, "I have a treasure of the Sangha." Demon King Bo Xun: "If you want to educate sentient beings, you have to bring in new people." Your old man will not refuse my disciples to accept your teachings. The Buddha said, "No." ”
The Demon King Bo Xun said, "At the end of your Dharma period, I will ask my disciples and grandchildren to mix into your Sangha treasure, wear your robes, and destroy your Dharma. They have perverted your scriptures and broken your precepts in order to achieve what I cannot achieve by force today......"
The Buddha listened to the words of the demon king, and was speechless for a long time, and after a while, two lines of hot tears slowly flowed down. Seeing this, the demon king led the crowd to laugh wildly.
Why did the Buddha weep? According to the Demon King Bo Xun, are the Three Jewels of the Buddha, Dharma and Sangha really useless?
In fact, there is no need to be so pessimistic, after careful consideration, there are still big loopholes in Bo Xun's words. First, Bo Xun's remarks all have a premise, that is, "human nature is inherently evil". The question of whether human nature is evil or good has not yet been determined. China's Confucian Yasheng Mencius advocates the goodness of human nature, and Xunzi advocates the evil of human nature.
Although the theory of sexual evil can explain the practical necessity of the "fake" education of ritual music, because it denies the a priori morality of human beings, the sage's educational behavior of "transforming nature and creating falsehood" in the treatment of ritual and music has lost a solid existential basis.
Equating man's innate natural nature with the evil of social morality does not truly see the role of human consciousness between man's natural nature and man's social "malignancy". Therefore, the premise of Bo Xun's "human nature is inherently evil" may not exist.
Second, there is another premise of Bo Xun's remarks, that is, all sentient beings have greed, and it is precisely because of the greed of all sentient beings that Bo Xun is born! It is undeniable that all human beings have desires! However, human desires are not necessarily selfish desires or desires of five flavors and colors.
Thirdly, there is another premise of Bo Xun's remarks, that is, his disciples and grandchildren have mixed into the Sangha treasure, wearing robes, and harming the Dharma. This is often overlooked because there are still true believers who defend the Dharma. It is undeniable that today, there are many disciples and grandchildren of the demon king mixed in the Sangha treasure, but there are still more true disciples of Shakyamuni Buddha.
A dialogue between Shakyamuni Buddha and the demon king Bo Xun is very classic and intriguing. Nowadays, many people say that it is the era of the end of the law, and it is undeniable that now in the name of the Buddha, there are those who accumulate wealth and those who cheat sex!
However, we believe that this is not the mainstream of the Sangha, and this is not a reason for the pessimism and disappointment of the Orthodox believers, and that the disciples of Shakyamuni should have the confidence to defend the Dharma.
According to the texts of the time, Moro thought to himself: Prince Siddhartha has come to the Bodhi tree to realize the Buddhahood and get out of my control, and I can't let him get out of my control in any way!
After that, he returned to the heavenly realm, gathered his army, and said to them, "Warriors, take on all kinds of horrors, take on all kinds of weapons, rush in front of Prince Siddhartha, and destroy him like a flood destroys everything." ”
Moro himself, on the back of a great war elephant, followed the army. and conjure up a thousand hands, each holding a different weapon.
The great army of Moloh was two hundred and sixty-eight li long, and two hundred and sixty-eight li wide on the right and left, and two hundred and two li above it, and it was two hundred and two li on the bottom, and it was down to the bottom of the world. The trembling clamor of that army could be heard from 22,400 miles away, like a huge landslide!
Armed with weapons, armies of various shapes, and Mora, they came to Shakyamuni and wanted to conquer and destroy him. When the army of Mora was advancing towards the Bodhi tree, the celestials who had come with the Emperor of Sharjah to pay homage to the Bodhisattva scattered in all directions.
Shakti himself took the conch and hid to the edge of the world, and the Great Brahma threw down the white umbrella and returned to the Brahma realm. The dragon king didn't care about the dragon dancer and went straight into the earth, returned to the dragon palace to cover his face with his hands, and no god or Brahma dared to continue to stand under the Bodhi tree.
