Chapter 34: Sentinels

The terrible scream from the faceless skull was terrifying, like the cry of a baby, telling the grief and indignation of the sentinel.

The roar caused the entire chamber to vibrate, and the bricks of the floor even cocked, revealing its fangs hideously.

The sentry shook his python-like neck, his featureless white mask facing Patrick, as if whispering his duty to expel the invaders. It takes a step forward and is ready to go.

"Danger!" shouted madly.

In an instant, the sentry moved to Patrick, his slender fingers reaching out of his spherical hand, covered with a purple halo, and grabbed at him. Patrick made a quick decision, turned on the force field shield to defend, and raised his gun to fight back. However, when the sentinel's fingertips touched the force field shield, the force field shield's energy was strangely lost and scattered, and after only two seconds of pause, the force field shield became ineffective.

......Seeing that the situation was not good, Patrick quickly stepped back, and the exoskeleton's thrusters helped him distance himself from the sentry.

Both he and G41 raised their weapons and fired at the sentry, who simply raised his hand and let the bullet stop in front of him. They emptied a cartridge of bullets, and the sentry remained unmoved.

"What's going on with this guy......" Patrick said as he changed his ammo. He's trying his best to stay calm and focused, and if he deviates a little, they'll really die.

"Amazing to say...... Being able to manipulate the so-called 'field' at will like this, no, this is no longer a technology that we can understand. As he spoke, he burst out laughing maniacally.

A formidable enemy, Patrick thought. The sentinels let out a piercing howl, and the oppressive feeling that echoed through the chamber grew stronger.

A ball of light gathered in front of the faceless sentry's face, and with a roar, the ball of light elongated into a beam of light and blasted out. Patrick immediately dodged to the side, and the beam hit the hexagonal crystal brick, absorbing the beam, and the brick became a little brighter. The Sentinel was about to fire a second beam cannon, and Patrick was quick to pick up the upturned bricks to block the beam.

"There can be no mistake, the Sentinels are the prototype of the Servants. ”

"Servant?" asked Patrick, and to be honest, he didn't have the energy to speak madly right now.

"The first relics technology products produced in the Soviet Union in 1961 were revealed in 1971, and according to the saying at the time, the servants were more like machines than creatures, and I think they were very similar to sentinels. ”

"Automa?"

It's more of a beast, Patrick thought silently. Sentinels are simply irrational beasts, and in addition to yelling, they are attacking others indiscriminately.

The sentinels had already fired several beams, and the bricks that absorbed these attacks had become incredibly bright, eventually appearing to exceed saturation and shatter after cracking a few cracks.

By this time, G41 had already sneaked up on the sentry's back, and she aimed at the sentry and pulled the trigger, but the bullet still stopped in mid-air before hitting the sentry.

It seems that it will not work without attacking at close range.

The G41 understood this, quickly changed the magazine, and rushed towards the sentry. The sentry noticed her, turned around and raised his hand, the center of his five fingers gradually gathering a beam of light, and then opened his hand and pushed forward, dozens of beams of light shot out.

G41 had only a split second to react to the sentinel's deadly attack, and she leapt slightly off the ground, turning sideways and slicing through the gaps in the beam, only the corners of her dress rubbing against the deadly beam. She dodged an attack that was almost impossible to dodge, and landed on the ground running at the sentry without stopping.

As the Sentinel's next blow approached, G41 rushed up to the Sentinel, and she fended off its arm, and the Sentinel's fingers immediately stopped gathering the beam and instead twisted like a mollusk, piercing the slender mechanical prosthetic. G41 raised the gun with his other hand, the muzzle of the gun approached the sentry's chest, and pulled the trigger, the bullet roaring and tearing at the sentry's chitin until it pierced through its body.

The sentinel let out a dying scream and collapsed, purple liquid pouring out of the hole in his chest.

"G41! Are you alright?"

G41 didn't answer, her face pale, her left arm, which had been destroyed by the sentry, trembling, and purple abilities spreading up from the wound, eroding the prosthetic limb bit by bit.

"Oops...... Urgently turn off the function of the left arm, it is out of order......" madness muttered, "Damn! Patrick, remove the G41's left arm, quick!"

"Hmm......," Patrick replied briefly.

He grabbed G41's arm, and found that the ability did not erode him, so he pulled hard, and stabbed his Hidden Blade into the gap between the prosthetics, using all his strength to cut off the collapsed crystal bones in the prosthetic limb before removing the arm.

"Good risk, good risk...... It's almost going to be dismantled. Madness said.

"Breakdown!" G41 was frightened, "Woo......"

"yes, decomposing, melting, what does it feel like? ”

"Alright," Patrick stopped his madness, "now is not the time. ”

He turned back to check on the Sentinel, and noticed that the purple liquid was flowing out of the hole, slowly flowing down the Sentinel's body to his arms, enveloping it. After a few moments, the Sentinel's arms reformed into a pair of wings, and it screamed again as if it had woken up.

Patrick shot the rifle bullet into the air, but it didn't work at all, and he could only watch the sentry get back to his feet and take off into the air. The hollow in his chest suddenly generated a powerful suction, engulfing everything like a black hole. The corpses of its kind were easily sucked up, and were shattered to pieces as they approached the mouth of the cave.

"What the hell is this?" asked Patrick, trying to hold himself down, but he felt like he was getting closer to the sentry.

"Who knows! If you figure out the principle of this kind of thing, I'm afraid my CPU will burn out!"

They can't afford to drag on for too long, and Patrick himself can't hold out for long, let alone the G41 in its current state. With great difficulty, he pulled out the Valkyrie launcher and fired a grenade at the sentry, but instead of exploding, the grenade was shattered into pieces.

"Isn't there a solution?" asked Patrick, and if he spoke, the voice would be sucked in.

"Since it's a relic creature, it must be able to use some of the properties of the collapsed particle to deal damage, that's my guess!"

There is also some kind of characteristic...... They don't have time to find out which trait it is. I can only gamble.

This time, Patrick pulls out the portable Collapse Teleporter, which he activates and throws it at the sentry with a quick flick of the suction.

He could only pray that it worked, otherwise......

The teleporter reported that it flew into the hole in the Sentinel's chest, and after only a second, the attraction of the entire space stopped, and Patrick and G41 fell to the ground due to the reaction force.

Patrick looked up at the sentry, who fell from the sky without a scream or other movement, and the moment he touched the ground turned into dust.

"This time, it's dead, isn't it?" Patrick breathed a sigh of relief.

"Well, yes. The madness also replied with a sigh of relief.
