Chapter 20: Cowardice and Humbleness

Evan slept uncomfortably all night and dreamed a lot.

He first dreamed that he was back in Godric's Hollow twelve years ago, and that in that dark and silent night, he watched Voldemort kill Harry's parents, and he wanted to help them, but could not do anything about them.

Immediately afterwards he dreamed of Ginny, the girl lying limply in front of him, cold as a corpse, and young Voldemort, Tom Riddle, standing beside her, mocking his little tricks with a sneering and smug expression, and being completely vulnerable in the face of absolute strength.

Evan laboriously pulled out his wand, but in an instant it was knocked away by Tom Riddle, and the next second, a green light flew towards him, and he sat up from the bed suddenly.

When he woke up, Evan was drenched in sweat.

It was just getting dark outside, and he gasped and lay back down, as if to realize that he was too weak to be Voldemort's opponent.

Luckily he still had time, and even more fortunately they had Dumbledore, Voldemort's only feared wizard.

Evan gradually settled down, improving his strength needed to be done step by step, he couldn't learn advanced magic as soon as he came into contact with it, and became on a par with Voldemort and Dumbledore. The immediate priority is to think about how to defeat the basilisk and deal with the journal.

"The basilisk seems to be afraid of the crowing of the rooster, should I?"

Just as Evan was thinking, he suddenly heard a rustling sound in the corner of the room, and someone had broken in.

"Fluorescent flickering!" Evan jerked up his wand at the bedside, looking warily ahead.

It was a brownish-green creature with a dirty pillowcase over it, a house-elf, and it was tidying up the room. The light on Aven's wand frightened it greatly, and it stood stupidly for three seconds with its big pitiful eyes before letting out a suppressed scream and disappearing into thin air.

On the four-poster bed next to him, Colin rolled over and continued to sleep.

Evan couldn't sleep, he sighed, and thought of Voldemort again, maybe in Voldemort's eyes, he was as humble as the house-elf just now.

This feeling was very bad, and Evan simply put on his robe and quietly got up from the bed.

Hogwarts was unusually quiet in the early morning, with portraits sleeping on both sides of the hallway, and not a single figure could be seen. Evan walked in the empty castle, and for some reason, he suddenly wanted to see the sunrise.

Avan held his breath and walked straight up the stairs, which was the very top of the castle, which he had never been to before.

When he climbed the last flight of steps, Aven saw a large circular room, with elegant arched windows on the wall, decorated with blue and bronze silks, and directly opposite it was an old, glossy wooden board with an eagle-shaped bronze knocker for questions.

It was the entrance to the Ravenclaw common room, and Evan didn't come closer, he walked to the balcony that protruded from the window on the left, from which he could see the beautiful scenery outside the castle.

The next second, Evan noticed that someone had arrived before him.

A gentle breeze blows, the morning sun slowly rises over the horizon at the edge of the Forbidden Forest, and with the golden sun, Evan sees a beautiful blonde girl sitting on the edge of the balcony. The girl has an indescribable ethereal temperament, like a fairy who has fallen into the mortal world.

"Good morning, Aven!" Luna said calmly, turning around, as if she had expected him to be here.

"Good morning, Luna!" Evan breathed a sigh of relief and walked over to her and sat down, "What are you doing here?"

"I'm writing an article looking for scimitar-horned snorers to submit to your newspaper. ”

Evan didn't know how to answer, it stands to reason that he should be happy if someone submits it, but the thought of this content "how to find scimitar-horned snorers" makes him unhappy.

"Inspiration tends to come most easily in the morning!" Luna set the parchment aside and looked at Evan with her foggy bulging eyes, "You're here for inspiration too, no, you seem to have something on your mind?"

"Well, that's right!" Evan hesitated for a moment and continued, "I just feel that in the face of the cruel reality, human power is too small, even if I know everything, I can't change anything. ”

Evan was vague, unsure if Luna could understand.

The two stared silently for a while, and then Luna said in that characteristic trance voice, "Strength is not absolute, and being able to face one's own cowardice and humility is also a kind of courage, isn't it?"

"yes!" Evan nodded, courage was the most important thing.

"However, I believe in wisdom more than strength and courage. Luna said in a singing tone, "Extraordinary ingenuity is the greatest treasure of mankind." ”

This was the second time Evan had heard Luna say this, and he had checked it when he went back yesterday, and it was the last words of Lady Royna Ravenclaw before she died, and it has been sung by posterity for centuries.

Maybe it's a famous saying, but Evan doesn't know how it will help defeat Voldemort.

"My mother once told me that before embarking on the road of life, it is important to choose the right direction, and then no matter how many doubts and objections are filled, we must unswervingly go on, to pursue our own beliefs, fearless and difficult, our hearts are sunny, and our own light is blooming. ”

On the towering Hogwarts Tower, Luna's voice came like a cloud beside her, making Evan in a trance.

"Directions?!" Then he reacted and subconsciously asked, "Your mother?"

"Yes!" said Luna simply, "she was a wonderful witch who loved to experiment, and one day her spell failed, and she died, when I was nine years old. ”

"I'm sorry, Luna!"

"It's okay, Aven!" Luna said in one breath, "I've seen her after all, and I still feel bad sometimes, but I still have Dad. What I want to say is that you are not alone, if there are any difficulties, you can talk about them and solve them together. ”

"You're right, I'm not alone. Evan nodded knowingly.

In fact, ever since he knew that he had traveled to the wizarding world of Harry Potter, Evan had always had a deep sense of anxiety, always putting himself alone on the opposite side of Voldemort, ignoring the existence of others.

Hearing Luna's words, he remembered Harry, Ron, Hermione, and everyone, in the original book, Harry relied on everyone's help to finally defeat the mighty Voldemort, even if it cost a lot, but in the end he still won.

Now that he is here, he will be able to avoid those tragic things from happening.

"Trust your friends, they may not be able to do anything earth-shattering, but they will constitute many mundane, almost negligible but essential details. Luna's voice came at the right time," Helga Hufflepuff famously said, and I think he has a point. I sometimes wonder if everyone should be assigned to Hufflepuff, who seems to be the smartest of the four founders. ”

"Thank you, Luna!" Evan felt better.

"You're welcome, are you going to come with me to the Ravenclaw common room?" Luna stood up, "We can read Singing Bad Tunes together, it's a magazine written by my father, and maybe it will give you some inspiration." ”

"Oh, no, I'm a little hungry and want to go downstairs for some pudding!" Evan shook his head, though he was grateful to Luna and interested in the Ravenclaw common room, but he didn't want to watch "Singing Back".
