Chapter 346: The Transformation of the Mind

People on the earth will have the concept of a country, but they may not always have the feelings of a country. Often when people go to a foreign country, they will miss their hometown more and cherish their homeland, and the concept of this country will become flesh and blood, and patriotism will be very concrete.

Zhang Junyi in his previous life had never left his motherland, so he didn't have any concept of what he missed his hometown, after all, in his previous life, Zhang Junyi's pocket couldn't afford the high cost of going abroad.

This life is different, although it is tightly separated by a river, and Zhang Junyi's heart has been constantly saying to himself that Xiangjiang is a part of China, but now is not 97 years after all, no matter how Zhang Junyi self-hypnosis, but I have to admit that the current Xiangjiang is under British rule.

This is also the reason why Zhang Junyi has a certain ability, and donated a large amount of money without asking for anything in return when he went north for the first time, although there is a certain concept of investing in advance to build a good relationship, but in fact, the bigger thing is to do something for his motherland, otherwise why does Zhang Junyi not invest in other things but just donate money for the country's education!

Speaking of football, in the 21st century of the previous life, the field of football is rapidly becoming globalized, and players from various countries frequently transfer and come and go at will, resulting in more and more national leagues having international factors.

The players, regardless of nationality, only play for their own clubs, and there is absolutely no element of patriotism in their passion.

However, when it came to the World Cup, the world changed. Players from all over the world returned home to play and wore costumes in the same colors as the glorious flags. Before each game, the national anthem is sung to pledge love and loyalty to one's homeland. A blood emotion began to burn in the veins of the whole body, and the blood immediately boiled.

This is the sense of national honor, Zhang Junyi in this life finally understood why at some point, watching his compatriots sing the Chinese national anthem so wildly!

In fact, there is another theory about epiphany, which is a method of Zen Buddhism, as opposed to the method of gradual enlightenment. That is, the method of "clear mind" advocated by the sixth ancestor Huineng.

Of course, this is not the only way to achieve attainment by quickly comprehending the essentials of the Dharma through the right practice and thus guiding the correct practice, but the epiphany is mainly done through inspiration, which may be instantaneous in terms of time.

To put it bluntly, if you understand it, you will naturally understand, if you don't understand it, then you can't force it.

It is the same as the idea of Tantra. For example: the famous Wang Yangming's dragon field epiphany.

As for the concept of epiphany, as far as Zhang Junyi knows, it seems to come from the "Altar Sutra" of the Sixth Patriarch Huineng in Buddhism.

Gradual enlightenment, on the other hand, means that the process of practice must be divided into many stages, and only long-term or even life-long efforts can reach enlightenment and Buddhahood.

In his previous life, Zhang Junyi deliberately checked the statement about epiphany for a period of time, in fact, Zhang Junyi was super obsessed with martial arts at that time, and the word 'epiphany' was often mentioned in martial arts at that time.

I don't know if it's the welfare of crossing, anyway, in the previous life, as long as it was something that Zhang Junyi had seen, this life was clearly imprinted in my mind.

The connotation of the concept of "epiphany" put forward by the six patriarchs in the altar sutra is roughly in several aspects:

First, "Confusion and hearing are tribulated, and enlightenment is instantaneous", "Delusions are destroyed in an instant", it can be seen that epiphany refers to the sudden change or leap of people's thinking.

Second, "seeing the truth as nature" and "enlightenment Bodhi", it can be seen that epiphany is the realization of one's own Buddha nature, because everyone has Buddha nature, so everyone has the function of epiphany.

The third epiphany is non-thought, "what is the name of non-thought, if you see that all the Dharma mind is not tainted, it is for non-thought", which shows that the result of the epiphany is not tainted with general concepts or ordinary disturbing laws.

Fourth, "the former mind is the ordinary man, and the second thought is the Buddha", "I am in the place of the forbearance monk, and when I hear the words, I will realize that the truth is like my nature, so as to popularize this teaching",

It can be seen that the six ancestors believe that they and their teachers and five ancestors are both "Buddhas" who have had an epiphany.

In fact, about the epiphany mentioned in the Buddhist scriptures, Zhang Junyi thinks it is too mysterious.

In fact, as far as Zhang Junyi knows, all creative thinking of human beings has suddenness, so all creative thinking can be called epiphany, such as inspiration, intuition, and so on. However, it was nearly a thousand years from the Tang Dynasty of the Six Patriarchs that mankind began to pay attention to and study the problem of epiphany in an all-round way.

First of all, Zhang Junyi knew that the "genius inspiration theory" appeared in the early twentieth century, but this theory was a notch lower than the epiphany theory of the six ancestors, because this theory believed that inspiration (epiphany) is not the innate instinct or nature of sentient beings, but the characteristics of geniuses.

Soon, however, epiphany was discovered to be a common form of creative thinking. Modern psychologists have demonstrated that even advanced beings have the instinct to have an epiphany by using the famous chimpanzee as a ladder to pick bananas using a wooden box as a ladder.

Next, human beings began to analyze and study the information mechanism inherent in the epiphany mind. Soon came the "Gestalt Theory", revealing that epiphany is the process by which the old Gestalt is broken and the new Gestalt is created in the mind. At the same time, Gestalt theory also uses experiments to clearly point out that the epiphany function of human beings is universal and innate, that is, self-taught.

Next, modern psychologists have discovered that any epiphany must have a clear thinking problem as the main premise, and at the same time, the epiphany must be a long, serious, and even arduous thinking about this problem before it can occur.

Finally, a series of characteristics of epiphany are discovered and verified. For example, epiphanies are sudden, induced, accidental, extremely happy, or suddenly enlightened. Even, many modern psychologists have found that epiphany is related to people's non-memory subconscious.

In short, modern science has not only comprehensively affirmed the extraordinary genius of the six ancestors who put forward the concept or theory of epiphany thousands of years ago with its own research results, but also truly liberated the concept or theory of epiphany from the so-called religious misunderstanding of "becoming the first to become a Buddha" and has become an effective and promising method for human beings to "never leave the world".

Of course, in addition, Zhang Junyi also found out in his previous life that according to the explanation in psychology, an epiphany is a sudden realization.

Gestalt psychologists point out that the human process of solving problems is epiphany. When people are puzzled by a problem, they suddenly see the various relationships in the problem situation and have an epiphany and understanding. It's like "stepping on iron shoes and finding nowhere to go, and it takes no effort to get it". It is characterized by suddenness, uniqueness, instability, and emotionality.

For example, epiphany learning is the ability of animals to use their existing experience to solve current problems, including understanding problems, thinking about problems, and solving problems, and the simplest epiphany learning is the detour problem, that is, a barrier is set between the animal and the food, and the animal can only approach the food after first staying away from the food and bypassing the barrier. Octopuses can't solve this problem, and fish and birds can quickly learn to solve this problem after many attempts, while mammals such as squirrels, rats, and raccoons can quickly learn to solve this problem.

Chimpanzees are the animals with the strongest epiphany learning ability other than humans, and the research on chimpanzee epiphany learning ability was first completed by Köhler in the 20s of the 20th century.

Moreover, Zhang Junyi knows that in the later more and more complex experiments, it has been further confirmed that chimpanzees have a strong ability to learn epiphany, and even in solving some problems, they are close to human abilities, of course, this is an experimental topic in the 21st century.

Among the experiments of the Gestalt psychologist Köhler, there is the famous "bamboo pole experiment". In the bamboo pole catching experiment, Köhler kept the chimpanzees in a cage with two bamboo poles that could be attached, and bananas were placed on the outside of the cage.

For a chimpanzee to get a banana, he has to connect these two bamboo poles. After the chimpanzee is locked in the cage, it first reaches the banana with its hands, and uses a bamboo pole to reach the banana, and after such an attempt, the chimpanzee cannot get the banana, then the chimpanzee will stop, look at the banana outside, fiddle with the two bamboo poles in his hand, and occasionally make the two bamboo poles together, and he will quickly use the bamboo poles to get food. Chimpanzees are happy with their "invention" and keep repeating this way of getting bananas.

Köhler found that chimpanzees didn't learn how to get bananas by blind trial and error, as kittens do. Instead, the chimpanzee crouches on the ground and seems to be thinking about something.

Then, it will suddenly splice two short bamboo sticks into a long stick, successfully reaching the banana outside the cage and into the cage. According to Köhler, this was the behavior of the chimpanzee after he suddenly understood the interrelationship of everything from the cage, the two short bamboo sticks, the banana outside the cage, and so on.

According to Köhler, learning is a process of epiphany, not trial and error. Epiphany often follows a phase of trial and error, but this behavior is more akin to a "behavioral hypothesis" than Thorndike describes, and animals abandon these hypotheses after experimenting with them, which is often a prelude to epiphany. The so-called epiphany is when the animal suddenly perceives the solution to the problem, that the animal understands why and how its actions are carried out, and that it understands the relationship between its actions and the situation, especially with the object. Epiphany can only occur when the animal clearly recognizes the relationship between the various components in the overall problem situation.

Therefore, the process of epiphany is also a process of reorganizing perception, from a vague and unorganized state to a meaningful, structured, organized state, which is the reorganization of perception and the basis for the emergence of epiphany.

Zen Buddhism is known as "one flower and five leaves", Zen Buddhism emphasizes enlightenment, epiphany education and Zen Buddhism have many similarities, but also a continuous "enlightenment" process, we teach students to increase knowledge in learning, improve understanding in thinking, and understand the truth in teaching...... It is precisely because of "enlightenment" that people can constantly rise from perceptual understanding to rational understanding, can they find reason from impulse, discover and awaken from chaos, and can they see through right and wrong, clear between right and wrong, good from bad, and beautiful from ugly.

In fact, ideological education in schools is also a process of promoting and raising students' consciousness by enlightening their minds and inspiring and guiding them, but as for whether it is an epiphany or gradual enlightenment, this cannot be generalized, it varies from person to person, from event to event, and from time to time, and it also depends on the specific situation.

First of all, taking classroom education as an example, it is impossible for students to have an epiphany at once and understand the truth they have expounded, even if they talk brilliantly and reasonably, and listen to them more intensively, there will always be students who are difficult to realize for a while, because the ability to understand and accept is different, which is an inevitable situation. Therefore, we should not rush to achieve results, nor can we be too demanding, hoping that through one or two or even a few educational lessons, we can achieve a very perfect educational effect.

Since it is impossible to have an epiphany, it is necessary to let the students gradually become enlightened, so that ideological education must be considered in the long run.

Therefore, for the daily education of students, we must judge the situation, calm down, and earnestly grasp every inspiration and guidance, and pay attention to doing a good job in education, which is actually to do a good job in education.

Practice has proved that only by grasping education frequently, frequently, and in a down-to-earth manner, can we continuously achieve good results in a subtle and imperceptible way.

However, the need for gradual enlightenment in ideological education is by no means completely absolute, and some work can also be enlightened, such as random education, which can make people suddenly wake up and suddenly enlightened.

Because this kind of education is more casual, but it is more targeted, often for a certain phenomenon or a certain thing, as long as the reason is in place, it is easy to accept.

Especially when having individual heart-to-heart talks with others, or doing one-person one-thing ideological work, sometimes a weighty word, a gesture or even a look may make the other party suddenly realize and untie the knot.

Therefore, just like the situation that Zhang Junyi is facing now, anyone who grows up must go through a spiritual transformation, and every spiritual transformation is like a double-edged sword, and at the same time it changes the perception of reality.

One thing and a word may make Zhang Junyi's soul transform once, leaving footprints deep in his heart.

This footprint can be happiness, sadness, or darkness.

Each transformation represents a spiritual baptism, and after the baptism, it is a new beginning.

Some of the darkness that they bring to themselves after experiencing the baptism of the soul, how can they get out of the darkness?

Then Zhang Junyi needs some time to forget the past and regain the confidence to start over.

In this process, it is ever-changing, and it is easier to impulsively make the relatives around you feel incomprehensible, just like Zhang Junyi a few nights ago, now at this stage Zhang Junyi has no emotions at all, and he has fallen to the lowest point in his life, and what he also needs is more comfort and understanding, so that he can get out of the darkness and regain his self-confidence and return to his normal life.

Of course, failure is not terrible, what is terrible is to give up on oneself and dare not admit one's failure, fortunately, Zhang Junyi's current situation is not like this, after all, no matter how you say it, Zhang Junyi himself is also a human being in two lives.
