Chapter 548: The First Zen of Lingdong

Chapter 548: The First Zen of Lingdong

The monk studied diligently from an early age, and by the time he was a young man, he was already proficient in the subset of scriptures and history.

He was hired as a doctor of Taixue. Although the monk is famous in the court, he is extremely bored with mundane things and often sighs.

By chance, the monk read a Buddhist scripture, and he suddenly woke up, so he devoted himself to Buddhism.

He was twenty-eight years old.

As soon as the monk shaved his hair, he looked for Buddhist scriptures to read, and after reading, he was filled with joy and sorrow, and he understood it, and he was more determined to stand in the Buddhist aspiration.

After entering the Buddha's door, the monks made five vows: 1) to take the Dharma as wealth, 2) to obtain great supernatural powers, 3) to promote the Dharma, 4) to dedicate themselves to the Three Jewels, and 5) to repay the kindness of parents, teachers, monarchs, and benefactors.

Seng Chou first learned from the Taoist Zen master to practice meditation, and then went to Jiayu Mountain in Dingzhou to practice.

After practicing for a while, the monk eliminated the desires of mortals.

One day, Seng Chou met a monk from Mount Tai, and Seng Chou told him about his cultivation.

This monk advised the monks to practice meditation and not to have other thoughts.

He said to the monks, "Everything that has a soul has the initial foundation for becoming a bodhisattva, and you must stick to this fate and not pursue worldly things. In this way, you will definitely be able to achieve the great road. ”

The monk listened to the monk's words and began to devote himself to meditation.

After ten days, the monk felt that his scattered mind had become one, and he entered meditation.

He then practiced according to the Sunnah of Nirvana and the Four Minds.

After a few days, Seng Chou found that neither in his sleep nor when he was awake, whether he felt it or did not feel it, it did not make him have the slightest desire.

Five years later, the monk went to Zhanghong Mountain in Zhaozhou to learn the Sixteen Special Victories from Daopeng Zen Master.

At this time, the monk cultivated even harder.

In order to save time, he only ate one meal in three months, and often cultivated until he knew the morning and evening.

The clothes were torn, revealing the flesh, and the monk just pulled it up, and there was no time to change it into a new one.

Sometimes he was cooking, and before the rice was cooked, he settled down.

After a long time, the food in front of him was eaten by the beasts.

When the monk was cultivating the method of exterminating all distracting thoughts, he was intimidated by thieves.

But the monks were undaunted, explained the Buddha's teachings to them, and destroyed the arrows they shot one by one.

The thieves were greatly shocked and heeded the advice of the monk and took the ordination.

Another time, Seng Chou was meditating and cultivating on Queshan Mountain.

After a while, he heard the sound of music coming from the air, and the intoxicating aroma pierced his nostrils.

Then I saw a few fairies wearing colorful silk and delicate postures floating down.

Several fairies stepped forward together, hugged the shoulders of the monk, the tender skin rubbed against his body, the breath of breath blew on his neck, the monk sat there, unmoving, he restrained his desires with death in his heart.

Soon, the fairy disappeared, and the monk was deeply determined, and he entered the meditation for nine days.

At this point, the emotional distractions are completely eliminated, and there is no longer the slightest interest in the world.

The monk came to the Shaolin Temple and told the great masters about the process of self-study and meditation.

All the senior monks praised the monks together. The Tianzhu monk Batuo said to the monk: "To the east of the Green Ridge, you are the best person to learn Zen. ”

The monk then lived in the Shaolin Temple and learned more deeply from the Buddha.

There are more than 100 monks in the Shaolin Temple, and there is a spring in the temple, and the water that bubbles up is not enough.

One day, a woman dressed in tattered clothes sat on the steps with a broom and listened to the monks chanting sutras.

And when they did not know who she was, they rebuked her and drove her away.

The woman's face was angry, and she stepped on the water with her foot, and immediately the water dried up, and the woman was gone.

Everyone told the monk about this, and the monk called "Youpoyi" three times in a row, and the Buddhists called the female layman "Youpoyi".

And the woman appeared.

The monk said to her, "The monks are practicing the Buddha's path, and you should protect them." ”

The woman plucked the spring with her foot, and immediately the water gushed out.

All the monks were amazed by the mana of the female layman, and they even felt the power of the monks.

When Seng Chou was practicing in Shaolin Temple, he found that there were two volumes of immortal scriptures on his bed, and the monk tree said to the immortal scriptures: "I have cultivated the way of Buddhism, and I don't want to live forever in the world." ”

After saying this, Seng Chou loses all kinds of feelings about things, whether they are internal or external.

And then he attained deeper meditation.

After that, the monk went to Qingluo Mountain to practice.

After a few days of practice, he developed sores on his body.

The sores are constantly pus, and the smell is unpleasant. But Seng Chou didn't care about this, and still cultivated as before.

After meditating for a long time, the monk felt tired and wanted to stand up and stretch his legs

。 At this time, a divine man descended from the sky and stepped forward to support the monk and asked him to meditate again.

Therefore, the monk has been in meditation many times, and each time he has been in meditation for as long as seven days.

After the monk Chou successfully studied the Dharma, he went to Majia Mountain in Huaizhou, ready to promote the Dharma, repay the kindness of the people, and fulfill his vows.

Emperor Wei Xiaoming inherited the legacy of his ancestors to worship Buddha, and sent people to Majia Mountain three times before and after to summon monks to Beijing.

The monk excused himself and said, "The whole world is not the king's land, I ask to cultivate the Tao on the mountain, it is consistent with your path of worshiping the Buddha, why do I need to come to your side?"

Emperor Xiaoming agreed to his request.

Zeng Chou knew that the king was moody, and the king was like a tiger, and when he was by the king's side, he would inevitably be entangled in mundane things.

And people often have the habit of being far away and cheap.

For the sake of propagating the Dharma, it is better to stay in the mountains.

After Emperor Wei Xiao succeeded to the throne, he invited the monk to be thick, but he still did not go out of the mountain.

Emperor Xiaowu then built a meditation room for monks in the Shangshu Valley, and gathered many monks to learn from him.

By this time, the monks' cause of propagating the Dharma had been extremely successful.

In all parts of Yanzhao, Buddhism spread, and almost no one eats meat anymore.

The monks worshipped the Buddha and begged for blessings.

There are people trapped by fame and fortune who come to Sanghou, and Sangchou will stop his fame and fortune for him, so that he can rejuvenate his heart and understand his true nature and return to the Buddha's way.

Later, the state of Qi was established. Emperor Qi Wenxuan issued an edict in the third year of Tianbao and invited the monk to go to Qi to preach the law.

Seng Chou felt that not long after the establishment of the Qi State, he invited himself to preach the Dharma, which was a good opportunity to spread the Dharma, so he decided to go.

On the day that the monk was about to leave, there was a sudden earth-shattering sound on both sides of the valley, which shook all directions, causing the birds and beasts in the mountains to run for three days.

The monk looked back at the mountains and gave birth to infinite attachment.

He thought to himself: "The heart of seekers and benevolence is found in all kinds of things, and it is not necessarily for people who know how to love." I wanted to spend my life in the mountains, but I thought there would be this change. People are really easy to be debauched, and it is difficult to persevere!"

From then on, the monk did not agree on anything in advance.

Emperor Wen Xuan personally welcomed the monk to the palace.

Although Seng Chou is over 70 years old, his spirit is clear and exciting.

Monk Chou said the Dharma for Emperor Wenxuan, first talked about the truth that the Three Realms are empty, glory and wealth cannot last long, and then talked about the law of the four thoughts.

After Emperor Wen Xuan listened, his hair stood on end, and cold sweat flowed. Then Emperor Wenxuan learned meditation from the monks, and soon attained deep concentration.

Since then, Emperor Wenxuan has never doubted Buddhism.

Emperor Wen Xuan and the monk took the bodhisattva vows, cut off wine and meat, and issued a decree to release the eagle harrier and others to nature, so that the country would become a country of benevolence and righteousness.

And it was decreed that slaughter should be forbidden for six months of the year.

Later, he also ordered fasting, and during the fasting period, all meat food was forbidden, regardless of official or private affairs.

Emperor Wen Xuan said to the monks: "Buddhism must be promoted by people, sincere and not hypocritical. I hope that you can rest assured in the Dharma and become your permanent disciple of Buddhism. What do you think?"

"Since Your Majesty has sworn to protect the Dharma, you should follow the arrangements of heaven, live in the world, devote yourself to education, and become a king who cherishes the Three Jewels and guides the people. Such a burden falls on his shoulders, and His Majesty should not shirk. ”

After living in the palace for a period of time, the monk felt that the matter of education had been accomplished, and wanted to return to the mountains and forests to practice quietly, so he resigned to Emperor Wenxuan.

Emperor Wen Xuan thought that the mountain road to Majia Mountain was rugged and it was difficult to travel with each other, so it was rumored that it was aimed at Longshan, eighty miles southwest of Yecheng, to build a Buddhist temple for monks.

The Buddhist temple should be built into a large temple within a radius of ten miles, so that cultivators can go to the temple to recite the scriptures and practice the Tao.

After the monk learned about it, he said to Emperor Wenxuan: "The area of the ten-mile temple is too large, I am afraid that it will hinder the local residents, this is not the way to help the world, please reduce it by half." ”

Emperor Wenxuan once again issued a decree to set the temple as a radius of five miles, and let the famous craftsman Ji Boyong pay for the construction of the temple.

When Ji Boyong summoned the nearby villagers and asked the name of this place, he suddenly heard someone in the sky answer loudly: "The mountains and forests are quiet, and the original name of this place is Yunmen." ”

When asked about the origin of the voice, no one knew.

When Emperor Wenxuan heard about this, he named the temple Yunmen Temple according to the voice in the air.

After the temple was built, a guest monk came with a tin staff.

The monks in the monastery arranged a place for him to live and asked him from which monastery he came from, and he replied, "I see that there are three monasteries here." ”

After saying that, it was gone, and when the monks were digging a well in the ground, they dug out the beaks of two owls.

In front of the monastery there is an abyss.

One day, the monk saw a hairy, burly man with a beard, lighting a fire on the edge of the abyss to boil water.

When the water was about to boil, a large python jumped out of the water and wanted to go into the pot.

The monk flicked his foot, the python returned to the abyss, and the hairy man was gone?

That night, a man of God led a man to visit the monk and said, "The disciple has a son who has done evil every year, and God will eat him." Although I cherish my son's life, I dare not hinder the man of God. My disciple is old and is dying, so I personally offer my son to God. Fortunately, my son was saved by the master. ”

After speaking, the two turned into clouds and mist.

After the monk lived in the Yunmen Temple, Emperor Wenxuan invited him to be the abbot of the grottoes and let him use this position to educate the monks.

He also sent a decree to transport thousands of offerings to the mountains, and to have Zen rooms built in various states of the country, so that those who had realized the Dharma could be taught by wise and insightful people to teach the Dharma.

The preaching of the Dharma is flourishing.

Emperor Wen Xuan thought that this way of propagating the Dharma had many drawbacks, and he said to the monks: "The fundamental purpose of Buddhism is to meditate on the mind, and the Dharma teachers teach the Dharma according to the scriptures, which makes people feel bored. It seems that this method is going to be abolished. ”

The monk said, "The Dharma masters inherit the four teachings and promote the Dharma, so that people can distinguish between good and evil, and realize the mystery of Buddhism. If you don't have these people, how can you start preaching? This is a process that must be necessary at the beginning of the practice of Zen. It is these people who rely on these people to give full play to the main purpose of the Buddha's teachings and make the devotees gradually comprehend. ”
