Chapter 547: Hui Si and the Second Life as Monks
Hui Si has been learning meditation from Huiwen for a long time, and she has been practicing for two seasons, but she has not yet attained enlightenment.
When the second summer came, Hui Si had to continue his cultivation again, and he made up his mind that he would not be able to realize the Dao, and he would sit and die here.
Hui Si tied her thoughts to the front and fell silent.
In the first three days and the seventh day, Wisdom saw the good and bad karma of his lifetime.
This was the beginning of enlightenment, and Hui Si sighed at it and worked harder.
Then the eight senses suddenly appeared one after another, and they entered the first meditation.
After that, the body seemed to be seriously ill, and his limbs were weak, unable to walk, and he couldn't help himself.
After self-observation, Hui Si knew that this was caused by his past negative karma, and that there was no other reason, and that this feeling was manifested in the process of clearing the negative karma.
Hui Si ignored this and just kept his mind.
Then, Hui Si felt that her body was like a white cloud, her heart was happy and quiet, and all her pain was removed.
Towards the end of the summer, Hui Si's meditation remained in the state he had attained at the beginning, and there was no further gain.
Hui Si examines herself and finds that she is drowsy due to excessive air guarding, and Hui Si feels very ashamed.
Hui Si relaxed her body and wanted to lean against the wall, and when her back was not yet touching the wall, she suddenly became enlightened and entered a higher realm.
Both the Lotus Samadhi and the Mahayana teachings have been confirmed, and I have attained a thorough understanding that I no longer need to be guided by others.
Meditation is an important method of cultivating wisdom and attaining enlightenment.
When monks study the Dharma, they should pay equal attention to insight and practice, insight is knowledge, and practice is to confirm knowledge in practice.
During the period of the Northern and Southern Dynasties, Buddhism in China emphasized practice in the north and knowledge and righteousness in the south.
Later, there was a confluence of Buddhism between the north and the south, which promoted the development of Buddhism in China.
Hui Si was an important figure who spread the method of meditation in the south from the north to the south, thus promoting the exchange of Buddhism between the north and the south.
When Hui Si was young, he was known for his generosity and kindness.
Hui Si once dreamed that a monk from Tianzhu persuaded him to become a monk, and he was very shaken, said goodbye to his parents, and entered Buddhism.
When Hui Si first entered Buddhism, he felt that a monk was teaching him in a dream, telling him to fast, asking him to keep the precepts and study as required by the Buddhist scriptures.
After receiving the full ordination, Wisdom became more steadfast in his heart of the path.
Hui Si often meditates and cultivates in quiet places, eating only one meal a day.
Hui Si read Buddhist scriptures such as the Lotus and read them thousands of times in a few years.
Once, the house where Hui Si lived was burned, and the person who burned the house immediately fell seriously ill.
The man who burned the house found Hui Si and asked him for repentance, which Hui Si accepted.
The burner built a grass house for Hui Si, and Hui Si recited and practiced in the grass house as usual.
The sickness of the burner was also cured.
Subsequently, Hui Si dreamed of hundreds of Buddhist monks, with strange shapes and costumes.
The Theravada said to Hui Si, "Although you have received the precepts, your monastic rites are not good. How can you enter the right path in this way? When you meet a monk who behaves in a pure manner, you have to learn from them. ”
Hui Si then took forty-two monks as his teachers and received full precepts from karma.
After completing his studies, Hui Si suddenly realized that this was arranged in a dream.
Since then, Hui Si has been practicing more diligently and concentrating on studying the Fa.
After practicing, Hui Si saw the things he had done in his three lives.
After Hui Si practiced for a while, he dreamed that Maitreya and Mida were speaking for him.
After waking up, Hui Si made two portraits and made offerings together.
Then, Hui Si dreamed of meeting with Maitreya and his family members in Longhua.
Hui Si said to herself, "I have received the Lotus in the last days, and now I am guided by the Buddha in this way, which is really a blessing for three lifetimes. ”
Hui Si was moved to tears, and suddenly gained enlightenment.
Hui Si further studied Buddhism, and various images appeared.
The water bottle that Hui Si used was always full, and all kinds of utensils were not prepared, as if a boy from heaven was guarding him underground.
When Hui Si read the Sutra of Wonderful Victory, he was very impressed with the kung fu of meditation.
Hui Si decided to practice meditation.
At that time, Huiwen's meditation exercises were profound, and Huisi went to learn from him.
After Hui Si had attained meditation, he went to meet with the Venerable Master and described to them the state of his enlightenment, and everyone was very happy for him.
As a result, Wisdom became famous far and wide, and the number of apprentices who admired his virtue and came to study with him increased day by day.
There are many methods of practice, and Hui Si chooses the method of concentration in the Mahayana to guide people into meditation and self-practice.
There are many people who study meditation, and there are some people with ill intentions.
Someone resented Hui Si and put poison in his meal, trying to poison him, but he didn't succeed.
The outsiders conspired to harm him, but it did not come to pass.
Hui Si didn't care about this: "When the great sage is in the world, there will still be gossip, let alone an immoral person like me? This kind of persecution is difficult to escape, it is caused by the wrong things I did in my previous life, and I will accept the persecution when it comes, so as to atone for the sins of my previous life." This is my private matter, and you don't have to worry about it. But the Dharma is going to be shattered here soon, so where are we going to take refuge from it?"
At this time, the monk said, "If we want to cultivate, we can go to Nanyue or Wudang, which is a good place to cultivate." ”
Hui Si left Songyang in the early years of Qi Wuping and led his disciples to move south, wanting to find a place to practice incognito, just like the previous great virtues.
As soon as he arrived in Gwangju, he caught up with the overthrow of Emperor Liang Yuan, the country was in chaos, and the road to the south was blocked.
Hui Si and his disciples had to live in Dasu Mountain temporarily.
In a few years, as many disciples came to join Hui Si as a tide.
Dasu Mountain is on the border of Chen and Qi, the two countries are at war, the spread of Buddhism is hindered, and many people are afraid of war and disperse one after another. Only those who are aspiring to do the Tao will not hesitate their lives to stay and learn the Dharma from Hui Si.
Hui Si taught them the method of meditation and taught the teachings of Buddhism.
Then, the people asked Hui Si to talk about the two sutras of Prajna and Lotus Sutra.
The content of Hui Si's lectures can explain the subtle meaning of Buddhist scriptures.
Zhiyi, who came to study the Fa in Jiangling, was smart and wise, and had extensive knowledge, and Hui Si asked him to teach the scriptures on his behalf.
Zhiyi talked about the place where he had ten thousand actions, and felt a little puzzled. Hui Si explained to him: "This is the meaning of the great grade, not the round and round of the Lotus Sutra. I used to think about this when I was on summer break. One night, I suddenly felt that a thought gave birth to ten thousand laws, thus confirming this statement. ”
Zhiyi accepted the Lotus Lotus Practicing Dharma Three Seven Realms taught by Hui Si, and asked Hui Si if his teacher position was the Ten Lands, and Hui Si said, "No. I'm Shixin Iron Wheel. ”
In fact, in terms of the realm that Hui Si has attained, he has reached the level of saying goodbye to the sea of suffering, but he himself is humble and retreats, and it is difficult to see the truth from his words.
On June 22, Chen Guangda, Hui Si took all his disciples and marched to Nanyue, starting the great cause of integrating Buddhism between the north and the south.
When Hui Si arrived at Nanyue, he told the monks, "I will stay here for ten years, and after ten years, I will travel far away." ”
And he said, "I was here in my previous life." ”
There is a beautiful place near Hengyang, Lin Jingquan is clear, and everyone who sees it is very happy.
"This is an ancient monastery where I used to live," Hui Si said. ”
According to Hui Si, the people dug up the ground, and sure enough, they saw the foundation of the house and some monks' utensils.
When they got to the bottom of the rock, Hui Si said, "When I used to sit here in meditation, the thieves cut off my head and died. Now it's me reincarnated. ”
The search was made and a dry skeleton was found, and a skull was found after careful searching.
Hui Si held it on his head and later built a tower for it to repay the kindness of his previous life.
Hui Si lectured on the scriptures and taught the Dharma in Nanyue, and the disciples of the mountain gate gathered, and his reputation grew.
A heretic was jealous and secretly told Emperor Chen, saying that Hui Si was a monk from the North, and he had come to destroy it at the behest of Qi.
Emperor Chen sent an envoy to investigate. The messenger was halfway through the road and encountered two tigers roaring angrily in front of him, and the messenger retreated in fright. A few days later, the messenger went again.
At this time, a small bee flew to sting Huisi's forehead.
Immediately, a big bee flew up, bit the little bee to death, put the little bee's head in front of Hui Si, and then flew away.
When Emperor Chen learned of this, he no longer doubted Hui Si.
Soon after, one of the informers died violently, and the other two were mauled to death by dogs, and the signs indicated by the bees were verified.
Emperor Chen admired Hui Si's profound Taoism and sent a decree to take Hui Si to Qixuan Temple in the lower capital.
Once, Hui Si went from Qixuan Temple to Waguan Temple, catching up with the rain, he didn't bring rain gear, but his body was not wet, and his shoes were not muddy.
When the disciples of Seng Zheng and Hui Wei met Hui Si on the road, they praised, "What a god! Otherwise, how could this be?"
The ministers of the Chen State admired Hui Si very much, and the Taoist customs were also fascinated by it. The governor Wu Mingche respected Hui Si and gave Hui Si a rhinoceros pillow. General Li Xiaowei went to the temple to meet Hui Si.
On the way, he thought, "How can I see the rhino half-pillow that Wu Mingche gave to Hui Si?"
When he arrived at Hui Si's residence, Hui Si said to Li Xiaowei: "If you want to see the rhinoceros pillow, you can see it now." ”
One day, suddenly a voice told Li Xiaowei to clean the yard and that a saint was coming.
Filial piety immediately asked people to clean up. After a while, Hui Si came, and Xiaowei admired him.
Xiaowei told everyone about this, and everyone was amazed.
Hui thought about returning to Nanyue, but everyone did not dare to redeem him, so they sent him to the river by boat.
After Hui Si returned to the mountains, Emperor Chen sent three letters every year to express his condolences.
Hui Si doubled his preaching of the Dharma in the mountains, and his teachings became more unfathomable.
The appearance is big and small, sometimes hidden, and there are often strange fragrances and strange colors, and all kinds of Rui are continuous.
Hui Si once said that he would live in the mountains for ten years, and then leave when he was full.
At the end of the decade, Hui Si descended from the top of the mountain to the dojo in the middle of the mountain, gathered disciples, and spoke the Dharma for days.
Hui Si painstakingly persuaded the monks to learn the Dharma and practice the Tao, and listened to it and moved their faces.
Hui Si told the people, "If there are ten people who risk their lives and practice the Lotus Sutra, the Prajna, the Buddha Samadhi, etc., and repent, I will always provide for any needs of such people. If there were no such people, I would be far away. ”
The austerity was difficult, and none of the disciples answered. Hui Si stopped thinking and waited for his life to end.
When the little monk saw that Hui Si was leaving, he cried loudly.
Hui Si opened his eyes and said, "You are a demon, I am leaving, and the saints are welcoming me, and I am very happy." Why are you alarming me, hurry out. ”
With that, Hui Si left.
When Hui Si died, the room was filled with a strange fragrance.
His body was warm on top of his head, his body was soft, and his face was as pale as ever.
He was sixty-four years old.
