Chapter 180: Buddhist Heritage

In our world, in addition to Taoism, there is also a large religion, Buddhism.

Buddhism, like Taoism, was also established by people who attained enlightenment, and the purpose of Taoism is basically the same as that of Taoism.

Buddhism, the earliest world religion, was founded more than 3,000 years ago by Gautama, the prince of Kapilavi in ancient India. Created by Siddhartha.

Thinking that is not detached from reality, development, and dialectical is the thinking of Buddhism. Therefore, Buddhism is characterized by both free thought and rational science.

Buddhism was born in ancient India in the 6th~5th century BC, but it is difficult to determine the specific time and age of its introduction to China.

It is said that in 2 B.C., Yi Cun, the envoy of the Dayue Kingdom (a powerful ethnic minority originally living in northern China after migrating westward to Central Asia), went to Chang'an, now Xi'an, China, and dictated Buddhist scriptures to a disciple of a doctor named Jinglu. This is the earliest record of the introduction of Buddhism to China in Chinese history books.

There is another legend: in the era of Emperor Ashoka of India and Qin Shi Huang of China, 18 people including Shamen Sri Fang of India came to Xianyang, China to preach.

Emperor Ashoka held his third assembly in 250 B.C., after which he sent great masters to preach to various countries, and he also spread Buddhism to China.

The second theory of wisdom says: "The name of the parents is Siddhartha, and Qin Yan is profitable; When you know all the dharmas when you attain enlightenment, you are called a Buddha. "The new name of the Buddha is Gautama, and the old name is Qu Tan; Because he belongs to the Shakyamuni clan, people also call him Shakyamuni, this cloud can be benevolent and silent - silence does not live and die; Nengren does not live in Nirvana.

Translation of the nominal collection: "Buddha." Big talk. Qin Yan knows. Knowing that future sentient beings are not the number of sentient beings. There are all the dharmas such as impermanence and impermanence.

The Bodhi tree is conscious. Hence the name Buddha. Later Han suburbs worship Zhiyun. Han Yan Jue also. There are three meanings. One is self-conscious, the understanding is true, and the confusion is vain. The two felt that he had no luck in the merciful world.

The three are perfect, the poor are at the bottom, and the line is full of fruit. Hua Yanyun: All dharmas are lifeless. Nor is it extinguished. Amazing Great Teacher. Consciously can perceive him. Zhao Shiyun. Life and death can not be consciously realized. Consciously aware of the other. It's only Buddha. Wonderful music clouds. This cloud knower is the one who perceives. Know the fame.

Say yes to foolishness. Buddha on clouds. All wisdom, all kinds of wisdom. Freedom from disturbing obstacles and cognitive obstacles. In all dharmas, all kinds of forms. Self-conscious. You can also be enlightened of all sentient beings. Like sleeping. Such as lotus blossoms. Hence the name Buddha.

It is similar to the original Taoism. Buddhism also has its own set of systematic theories and its own view of development.

Buddhism believes that everyone's destiny is in their own hands. In fact, Buddhism does not advocate superstition, the enemy of science, on the contrary, Buddhism advocates reason, opposes superstition, and pays attention to cause and effect.

"Buddhism is a religion of atheism and reason. In many ways, Buddhism is consistent with the spirit of science. Jiang Jinsong, an associate professor at Tsinghua University's Institute of Science, Technology and Society, said, "The Buddha opposes the blind worship of authority and the acceptance of any theory without thinking." Religious experts also point out that Buddhism has never opposed science throughout history. Not only that, many of the monks of the past dynasties were themselves famous scientists or technical talents, such as the astronomer monk of the Tang Dynasty, who co-founded the armillary bronze instrument and the zodiac instrument for observing celestial phenomena, and was also the first person in the world to measure the meridian.

Buddhism and science are no different. For example, potatoes and potatoes, but with different names. Master Yun, the Sixth Patriarch Huineng: "Buddhism is in the world." Never leave the world. Leaving the world to find Bodhi is like asking for a rabbit's horn "You have to leave the world to find the Dharma, just like looking for a rabbit's horn." The people who seek the Dharma outside their hearts look like this.

Just as Venerable Seeji said in "The Theory of Enlightenment and Enlightenment" (referred to as "Da Shu"): "Those who are enlightened, only the source Buddha said, the text is broad and scattered, and it is prepared in the scriptures." "Da Shu" quotes the "Bodhisattva Land Holding Sutra": "The Bodhisattva seeks the Dharma." What should you ask for? Seek it from all the five wisdoms. "The five clear places are the inner clear place, the cause clear place, the medical prescription clear place, the declaration office and the gong qiao clear place. Nagarjuna, the founder of Mahayana Madhyamaka Buddhism, said in The Treatise on Bodhi Resources: Saving the slain will naturally increase. He is good at cultivating his skills and teaching him by self-study.

Master Taixu, the leader of modern Buddhism, also taught: 'Jingyun: What should a bodhisattva ask for in the wisdom of the Buddha? Said: Ask for it at the Five Bright Places. The Five Ming are the ancient sciences of India, namely sound, writing, language, cause, reason, craftsmanship, art, medicine, and philosophy. Other words. Bodhisattvas should seek in the wisdom of the Buddha, that is, they should seek in science. ‘

Buddhism believes that the human body is rare. In the immeasurable reincarnation of sentient beings, the opportunity to obtain a human body is like a "blind turtle value wood", which is extremely rare. For the study of Buddhism, the immaculate human body and the ten perfections are the best conditions for learning the Dharma. Whether we repay our parents for their nurturing kindness and pursue a happy life in the world, or we study the Dharma and pursue the benefits of liberation from this world, we all rely on this extremely rare and precious human life.

President Chuanyin pointed out that Buddhism opposes both killing and suicide, and advocates the protection of life. The Buddha clearly rebuked and forbade suicide: "You are foolish, what you do is illegal!" Don't you hear what I said about compassion and forbearance and protection of sentient beings, and why don't you remember this Dharma now? And he made a commandment: "If you kill yourself, you must steal to cover your sin." Therefore, the assertion that "self-immolation is not contrary to the canonical teachings" is completely unfounded.

The "Treatise on the Middle Path" says: "The Dharma born of karma, I say is emptiness, and the name is pseudonym, and it is also the middle morality." He also said, "There has never been a Dharma, which does not arise from causes, and is therefore all Dharma, and all Dharmas are empty." That is, all things are born of causes and conditions, and since they are born of all causes, they have no self-nature and are empty. Buddhism holds that when causes and conditions do not exist, things disappear, and such a phenomenon is emptiness. So, what is karma? The cause is the main condition, and the dependent is the auxiliary condition, and when neither the main condition nor the auxiliary condition is present, there is no existence of things. Therefore, the existence of anything needs to have a primary cause and a secondary cause. When the cause is present, the thing exists; When the cause is not there, things disappear.

The theory of dependent arising is the basis of Prajna's thought. Prajna attaches great importance to "dependent origination". There is a verse in "The Buddha Says the Merit Sutra for Building a Tower": "All laws are born by fate, and I say that they are karma; Thus saith I do." Today, no matter what standpoint we stand on, these four sentences are true, the world was not created by God, but is indeed formed by the aggregation of various causes and conditions, which is the fundamental principle of Buddhism and the core idea of Prajna. "Dependent arising" is an important point in our understanding of Prajna's thoughts. It can be said that the theory of dependent origin in Buddhism is atheism.

This is the essence of the development of Buddhism, with the help of which Buddhism has achieved unprecedented development.

Around the time of the Gregorian era, Buddhism began to be introduced to China from India, and after a long period of spread and development, Chinese Buddhism with Chinese national characteristics was formed. Due to the different times, routes, regions, national cultures, and social and historical backgrounds of the introduction, Chinese Buddhism has formed three major lines, namely Han Buddhism, Tibetan Buddhism, and Theravada Buddhism in Yunnan.

When Buddhism was introduced to China, according to historical records, there are several different sayings, such as "In the fourth year of Qin Shi Huang (243 BC), the eighteen monks of the Western Regions came to Chang'an with Buddhist scriptures", "In the second year of Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty (121 BC), Huo went to the sick to fight against the Xiongnu and obtained the gold people and placed them in Ganquan Palace", "In the first year of Emperor Yuanshou of the Western Han Dynasty (2 BC), Jingxian, a disciple of the doctor, was dictated by Yicun, the king of the Dayue clan", etc. However, among the legends, it is generally known as the saying that "Han Ming felt the dream and first passed on his way", and it has been rumored since the Three Kingdoms.

In addition to his understanding of Taoism, Wang Ming also strengthened his understanding of Buddhism, whether it was the history of the development of Buddhism or something, Wang Ming found that this was very similar to the original development of Taoism.

They are all sects established by powerful people, and in addition to teaching the world how to be a person, these great powers will also pass down a large number of cultivation methods, Wang Ming does not care about how to be a person, only cares about these cultivation methods.

Wang Ming of Taoism has already studied it, and Wang Ming of Buddhism also has a little understanding, it is all like this, the laws of heaven and earth are in the same vein, they are all similar, whether it is Buddhism or Taoism, the practice is also similar.

Maybe it's different, but the end result is the same. (To be continued......)
