"Paradise Chase" voice actor talk

Director Seiji Mizushima and screenwriter Gen Hibuchi are both well-known names in the industry. And the combination of the two will naturally attract a lot of attention. Previously, it was officially announced that an original theatrical version of Zuò would be produced called "Paradise Chase". In this work, the earth, the home of human existence, has become a mess due to the loss of control of nanomachines, and most of the human beings have to leave the ground in order to survive, and then migrate to the computer world "Diva". However, in the year 2400 AD, Diva underwent a mutation: hackers from the surface world, led by Frontia Seta, invaded the area. In order to investigate the person, Angela, the investigator of "Diva", enters the physical body and travels to the surface world to meet with Dinger, the investigator on the surface. But what awaits her on the ground is a raging swarm of giant insects in the sand. Angela activates the motorized exoskeleton to take on these monsters. Meanwhile, in this desolate land, Frontia Seta is hiding herself. So Angela and Dinger join hands and embark on a journey to unravel the mysteries of the world......

The heroes and heroines of this work, Zaric Kajiwala and Angela Balzac, are voiced by Shinichiro Miki and Rie Tsumiya, respectively. On the occasion of the release of the movie, some Japanese media interviewed the two and learned about the charm of the work from their mouths.

■After getting a contact from Director Mizushima, I decided to participate. Although I was happy, I also felt the pressure

Q: First of all, could you please tell us how you decided to participate in this work? I heard that in the early stages of the project, the roles of the two were already decided.

Nailiya: Regarding this role**, in fact, neither Mr. Miki nor I have auditioned. Normally, it is the voice actors who participate in the audition and are then selected to star. But this time, when the director of Mizushima thought to himself, "Who will play it?" He sent me an email in his own name.

Our conversation is basically "Do you want to ask Miss Nailiya~" "Please let me act!" ”

Miki: After that, we went to meet with the director. I'm very happy to be able to play this role, but at the same time, I'm scared. I don't know what I'll be like in half a year, and I'll have to officially star after the New Year. That's why I'm feeling the pressure.

Nailiya: Since Director Mizushima came to contact me on purpose, I felt that I had to be responsible for the main role, so I was even more stressed. After that, I went to meet with the director, and in fact, there were very few meetings like this before.

Miki: The purpose of our meeting was to understand the general plot, world view, and character information. At that time, I also took a look at the brief video, so I had some confidence in "what exactly this work is".

Q: What kind of explanation did Director Mizushima explain about the characters?

Nailing Palace: This is how he introduced Angela: Some rough and unscrupulous sex. However, the body material she uses is a girl's body.

Miki: What are you talking about (laughs).

Nailiya: I think I've omitted a lot. But that's pretty much it.

Miki: I'm talking about it in a nutshell. You can basically position it as an "uncle". In terms of world view, director Mizushima said that it was a computer world, and the earth had become that miserable state......

But anyway, I was able to receive an email from Director Mizushima and go and meet with him. This kind of thing alone is shocking enough. I hadn't had this experience before.

Nailiya: I feel really lucky to be able to join us.

Miki: We are conceited, "Are we carrying a very heavy responsibility?" "So while I feel honored, there is also pressure.

■At the dubbing scene, everyone focused on the performance

Q: It seems that there have been two dubbing voices for this work before. Why?

Miki: At the beginning, we decided on the overall length of the work, and in order to coordinate the length of the dubbing, we first conducted a trial dubbing. Later, when you decide on the lines, you will encounter a situation of "I don't want this line". And if you do a trial dubbing, you can do it better when you add music in the later stage.

Nailiya: In consideration of the work of other staff, we had a trial dubbing, and with the progress of the production of the staff, we had another day of full-scale performance.

Q: What did you think of the two of you when you entered the full-fledged voice acting job?

Nailiya: I also said in an interview before that because of my dedication to my work, I hardly talk to anyone. We all trusted Director Mizushima and Director Sound of the three rooms, and of course we trusted the other staff, thinking "Let's do it!" "Since the number of voice actors on the recording is not particularly large, we also feel like we are being chased closely in that sense.

Miki: I've never felt liberated from stress, but whether it's Kamiya-kun who voices FrontierSetter, or myself, almost all of the people who meet in the studio are not strangers. So there's no need to care about what other people think.

Nailiya: In other words, we focus on the performance, don't care about what's going on around us, and keep moving forward alone.

Miki: We worked hard to dub the voice throughout the day, and by the time the work was over, it was past 12 o'clock in the evening...... If you continue the next day, the effect of everyone's performance will change. And after the dubbing, we went to drink, oops, the wine is really delicious~! (laughs)

Q: When you dub, everyone is watching celluloid 3DCG, so will it have an impact on the performance?

Miki: From Miki's point of view, I think it's a challenge to keep up with the speed of storyboarding. If it's a hand-drawn animation, then the storyboard transition will be very noticeable. In the case of CG, although the audience can clearly distinguish between them, those of us who participate in the dubbing are sometimes easily confused.

Nailing Palace: The changes in the storyboard are not abrupt, but closely linked. And even when the camera is cut, it doesn't feel like there's a noticeable change, so it's hard to keep up with the camera. Especially when there are many shots in a row, I can't tell the difference between the southeast and the northwest, and I feel like I'm lost.

Even if neither of us has seen the finished version yet, I believe that after our work is completed, the production party will carry out more processes to make the work perfect. That's why I wanted to see the work as soon as possible.

Miki: I'll go to see it 5 times by myself, absolutely!
