I've loved voice acting since I was a child! Interview with rookie voice actor Nepo Gorin

Every year, a large number of newcomers emerge in the Japanese voice actor industry, and for this reason, the Japanese media specially produced a program called "New Voice Actor Illustrated Guide". The show interviews and reports on some of the most promising rookie voice actors, to understand the behind-the-scenes stories of their entry into the industry, and their prospects for the future. In the latest issue of the "Rookie Voice Actor Guide", we will introduce Naba Korin, who once played roles such as Chacha in "Nobunaga the Fool".

Q: What was the reason why Ms. Naba became a voice actress?

Naiba: When I was in elementary school, there were two children in my class who had a very good relationship with me, and then we used our notebooks to draw our own comics. The characters in the work are all adapted from our own images, and on this basis, we further set up, and even made a sequel and a side story.

I don't know how to draw, so I took on the voice work for the work, and it was a lot of fun to read the work while voicing the characters. It makes me happy too. From that moment on, I became aware of the job of acting.

Q: Miss Naba made her voice actress debut because she auditioned for "Nobunaga the Fool". So how did you feel when you auditioned?

Naipo: That's right. It's a project that links stage plays and animation, and because of that, I became a member of "Kunai" Chacha. "Kunai" is composed of Chacha, Chu, and Jiang, and at the time of the audition, we were also examined in the form of a trio. And the final review is singing, and then we need to stand in front of the judges and perform. Since the interlude of this song is very long, I still remember the nervous feeling at the time (laughs).

Q: So why did you choose Cha Cha for the role of Audition?

Naipo: This is a big sister who has a leadership temperament and can bring the team together well. I really like and look forward to this, so among the trio, she resonates with me the most.

Q: Last December, you performed on stage. Then, in January of this year, I waited for the broadcast of the TV anime. You dubbed Cha Cha on both occasions, how do you feel about that?

Naipo: The format of the stage play is very special. There are two types of actors, one who performs action and the other who is dubbed. It's rare to see such a situation. But I did both parts of the job. Actually, the impression of Chacha in the stage play and the anime is a little different, so I was very annoyed. Cha Cha in the animation is completely a big sister with leadership skills, and often reprimands Chu and Jiang; And Cha Cha on the stage gives people a very energetic feeling, and the three of them are equal. It also took me a long time to distinguish between such settings. And the story is also told by the "story 0" of the animation, and all kinds of interweaving are difficult to grasp......

In the anime, every time I watched the live stream, I felt very sorry that I didn't do my best. However, when it comes to dubbing, I try to put my emotions as much as possible on the characters and the work, and then go into the studio.

Q: From the stage play to the animation, this project has come to an end. How are you feeling at this moment?

Naiba: In my mind, the project was going on for a year, so I didn't really feel it when it came to the end. I haven't looked back much before, but now that I think about it, it seems like I'm getting older. In other words, this project is my "nest", and I need to leave now. I have such a close relationship with Nobunaga the Fool, and in order to live up to the name of this work, I will have to spread my wings from now on. Also, Yui-chan Umemura, who voiced for the first time, and Saki-chan Takahashi, who voiced E, both walked through stage plays and animations with me and went to new heights, so they are also like family members, and they can't help but cry when they think that they won't see each other in the future.

Q: You've been dealing with Cha Cha for a long time.

Naiba: When I acted in both the stage play and the animation, I discovered that Chacha also has a childish side. However, in the Warring States period, childishness could not survive. Even if this is very difficult, Cha Cha still has a clear understanding. In the process of integrating this part into myself, I felt that I had become friends with the longing Cha Cha, and she seemed to have become a big sister. To this day, she continues to cheer and encourage me in my heart. And even if I encountered painful things before, as long as I thought that I had Chacha's support and thought that she was working with me, then I wouldn't feel empty! Thanks to Cha Cha Tea, I also have self-confidence, which makes me feel like I have gained something amazing. I'm afraid that Chacha will always be in my heart in the future.

Q: So, after your debut work "Nobunaga the Fool", you have continued to appear in other works. For example, in the card game "γƒ’γƒΌγƒγƒΌγ‚Ίγƒ—γƒ¬γ‚€γ‚Ήγƒ‘γƒ³γƒˆ", you played 3 characters by yourself.

Naipo: Yes. The first is Hatake** Natsu-chan from Nanao City, Ishikawa Prefecture, the second is Okushi Iyo-chan from Matsuyama City, Ehime Prefecture, and the third is Hidaka Miyako Sauce from Miho City, Wakayama Prefecture. In this card game, girls from 47 prefectures and municipalities across the country appeared, which made me feel that Japan is really big again! And these children are carrying the mission of their hometown and working hard to promote their hometown. For example, Hatakeyama-chan recommends Japanese candles and the like. I didn't even know what a Japanese candle was, but just because I learned about it, I felt like my horizons had expanded. Along with the performances, I also felt like I wanted to go to various places. This is the first time I've dubbed a game, so I'm really impressed.

Q: Also, you played the role of Kojiro in DuelMasters.

Naba: Kojiro is the youngest of the four brothers, so this boy seems to be very free to do things. The sound director even said, "Please perform in the most free way possible!" "And the four brothers are very poor. I always eat white rice while smelling other people's food...... But Kojiro is very cute. It got to the point where I wanted him to be my brother (laughs).

Q: I feel like there are a lot of well-known voice actors in the industry performing in this work, so what is the atmosphere like at the dubbing scene?

Naibo: The theme of DuelMasters is "blood". Just like that, the scene will be passionate enough. And all the voice actors and staff are constantly shouting, "Come and perform with desperate momentum!" "A little more blood!" But outside of dubbing, everyone hangs out together. It's really a very warm dubbing scene. In the past, Nobunaga the Fool still had a singing exam, but this game was the first time I won a role based on my voice alone, so I think I've advanced a little bit more. So it's a very important piece. When I was starring in デγƒ₯γ‚’γƒ«γƒγƒΌγƒˆ-chan, I really carried that child's peripherals around in my wallet. It makes me very happy to play this role.

Q: In addition, you also starred in "Tribecoolcrew", so what kind of role did you play in it?

Naiba: I'm playing the role of KIMIKA, the sister of the heroine Kanon Otosaki.

A: How did you feel after trying to play Kimika Otosaki?

Naba: My sister Hana-chan loves dancing very much, and she has a talent for it, but her personality is rather gloomy...... Because of the strict environment at home and school, she couldn't tell the people around her, "I love dancing!" "So you can only do the dance on the sly. And in the process, KIMIKA met the protagonist Han Er and others, and took this opportunity to realize these small changes in her sister, so as to cheer her on behind her back. Anyway, when I was starring in KIMIKA, I wanted to be my older sister (laughs). In the future, even if it is very dangerous, I will work with KIMIKA to support Hana's straightforward dream.

Q: Speaking of which, how did Ms. Naba spend her vacation?

Naiba: I don't go out at all except for a walk with my puppy! I HAVE A 7-YEAR-OLD POMERANIAN NAMED DAREN-KUN, AND WE ALWAYS WATCH TV TOGETHER. News in the morning, documentaries in the evening, and more. I also like to watch daytime variety shows, and I also watch interviews like "secret ...... I can't tell my husband". There are also food programs such as "γ‚γƒ₯ーピー3εˆ†γ‚―γƒƒγ‚γƒ³γ‚°" (laughs). But my favorite is still that kind of whole-person show. How would a person react in an unlikely situation? I'm very interested in that. And I've been following TV with that in mind (laughs).

Q: What kind of voice actor do you want to be in the future?

Naha: If you want to be a voice actor, if a fan of a work finds out that I am the voice of a certain character, they can say, "If it's Naba Korin's voice, then don't worry." For those who like the original work, and those who see the work under the name of a manga artist or character designer, if they can feel that "this person matches the character's temperament and will perform in great detail", then I will be satisfied. I'm a big fan of anime myself, so I'd be very happy if people paid attention to the characters I liked.

Q: What role would you like to try to challenge?

Naibo: I'd like to try out any role, but I'm looking forward to the same character as myself. I want to have the opportunity to perform with instinct. Also, some of the works can arouse the motivation and motivation of the audience, so it would be very happy if I could work as a part of it.

Q: If it is true that Ms. Naipa can play this kind of "similar role", what role do you think is very similar to yourself?

Naiba: I think it's the kind of horn that chases dreams**? I think it's a character who dreams big and never gets discouraged and keeps going.

Q: Thank you for your time today!
