scp-022 scp-023

Item Number: SCP-022

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: Following the incident of Accident No. 022-827, a vault door has been installed to seal SCP-022. Unless SCP-022-1 appears, the door to the vault must remain locked. SCP-022's original door has been destroyed during Incident 022-827, and every attempt to replace it has failed. Security cameras have been installed to monitor for the presence of SCP-022-1.

In the event of SCP-022-1's manifestation, the automated incineration system is to be activated immediately after it leaves SCP-022, after which the vault door can be opened to remove the residue. If the automated incineration system does not destroy SCP-022-1, the Rapid Response Team is to enter SCP-022 and destroy it. Aside from the instructions given by Level 4 personnel, no living person is to enter SCP-022 under any circumstances. Level 4 personnel may order SCP-022-1 to be captured alive or imprisoned, though they are not to be removed from SCP-022's containment.

Description: SCP-022 is a morgue located in the basement of a [REDACTED] hospital in Great Britain. Until 198█, the morgue had not reported any anomalous events. The first report of anomalous activity was received in September 198█, after which the area was quickly quarantined by the Foundation, and the entire building was decontaminated after the official narrative was released. The cause of this particular behavior is still under investigation.

Every once in a while, a random drawer in the morgue would open and reveal a corpse lying on a table, covered in a corpse cloth. After about six minutes, the body will move and attempt to leave the morgue. At this point, the corpse will be labeled SCP-022-1. In some cases, SCP-022-1 will damage or successfully exit SCP-022, or even sit up from the table. In such cases, SCP-022-1 will typically fall and convulse until the time limit for activity is reached. If SCP-022-1 is still on the table after the time limit has expired, the table will be withdrawn from the drawer and closed. Reports indicate that a smell similar to that of burnt human tissue followed.

The energy source of SCP-022-1's activity is currently unknown. SCP-022-1 do not breathe, eat, or sleep, and they do not have a body temperature. Analysis of SCP-022-1 revealed no anomalous organs or chemical compositions, and that they appeared to be normal human corpses.

SCP-022-1 also possesses powers beyond the ordinary. After direct testing, the problem was confirmed, and the researchers estimated that the lifting force would increase by about 500 N (112 pounds) under the same conditions as a normal human. Disintegration is underway to determine if this is from an unknown source of power or an independent situation.

When SCP-022-1's body parts are severed, the parts with the highest mass will continue to move, while the others will remain stationary. Destroying the heart or head will not destroy SCP-022-1, as the rest of the body and limbs will continue to move. SCP-022-1 can only be eliminated by complete destruction of all tissues. SCP-022-1 will easily reach its time limit when left alone, with all indications indicating that it will once again become a normal corpse. Depending on the extent of SCP-022-1's damage and decay, the time taken is known to range from 2 days to 3 weeks.

Investigation has revealed that the known bodies of SCP-022-1 are consistent with those reported by the city's morgues. This mechanism of transfer is currently being studied.

It has been proven impossible to add any objects to SCP-022. Any object that enters SCP-022 will quickly disappear after passing through the door, leaving no trace. This includes any inorganic matter as well as biological specimens. See Addendums 022-001 and 022-002.

If SCP-022-1 has a functioning mouth, tongue, and trachea, it is capable of communicating with researchers. See Interview Log 022-751.

Addendum 022-001: A request has been submitted to remove a portion of the south wall to increase the entrance to SCP-022. The application is pending approval.

Addendum 022-002: A pile of material was found directly below SCP-022, which appeared to contain all materials placed in SCP-022 except for humans. All materials are cracked and worn. The metal parts are heavily corroded, and all parts of the various stages of biodegrading. Testing has revealed that objects placed in SCP-022 will reappear in the same condition after 183 seconds, while humans will not experience the above, but will be placed in SCP-022 and potentially become SCP-022-1.

Interview Log 022-751

The following conversations are conducted in much the same manner, with SCP-022-1 usually being hysterical until Foundation personnel are able to reassure/restrain them. These sections are omitted.

Date: March █, 198█

Interviewed: SCP-022-1-2

Interviewer: Dr. ██████

Note: SCP-022-1-2 is the second instance to be discovered by the Foundation, and the first was discovered and destroyed by Foundation agents. SCP-022-1-2 has the body of an Asian man, approximately 43 years of age, whose chest has been stitched shut, indicating that it has been autopsied.

[Conversation begins]

Dr. ██████: Please state your identity.

SCP-022-1-2: I... My name is John █████████. What the hell is happening with TMD?

Dr. ██████: John, that's what we're trying to figure out. How did you get this... State?

SCP-022-1-2: I... I do not know. I remember driving my own car home... By that... Never mind. I was driving and crashed.

Dr. ██████: What happened next?

SCP-022-1-2: Nothing! That's where I woke up! Come on... This must be [unknowable].

Dr. ██████: So you remember having a traffic accident and waking up in this morgue? Do you have any ideas on how to get here?

SCP-022-1-2: I didn't come here! Do you know? It's not me! I'm not me!

Dr. ██████: What do you mean by "I'm not me"?

At this point, SCP-022-1-2 is so emotional that it must be physically restrained, and due to SCP-022-1's increased strength, it requires 6 agents to carry it out. Eventually, SCP-022-1-2 became calm and continued the interview.

Dr. ██████: Now, could you please explain what you're trying to say?

SCP-022-1-2: This. No. Be. I. I can see the reflection on the steel. I'm not an old Asian idiot! It's not me!

[END CONVERSATION]

Following on from the previous conversation, SCP-022-1-2 began banging its head against the wall. Then hours of incomprehensible screaming. It continued to struggle, but was apparently unable to speak, and did not stop completely until six days later. During this time, decay continues at a normal rate. A physical examination after this conversation could not determine the cause of death, as many internal organs had been removed. The only thing that did not appear in previous surgery/autopsy results was the damaged trachea.

Date: March █, 198█

Interviewed: SCP-022-1-5

Interviewer: Dr. ██████

Note: D-5619 disappeared after being sent to SCP-022, while SCP-022-1-5 manifested shortly after. SCP-022-1-5 is present in the body of a female approximately 12 years of age, but has lost her right arm and most of her torso. Following an SCP-022-1-3 event, all instances of SCP-022-1 must be physically restrained before coming into contact with important individuals, and SCP-022-1-5 is no exception.

[Conversation begins]

Dr. ██████: Please state your name.

SCP-022-1-5: What did you bastards do to my TMD?

Dr. ██████: Please state your name.

SCP-022-1-5: What did you do to me!?

Dr. ██████: We haven't done anything to you, now please state your name.

SCP-022-1-5: You know who I am!

██████: Then please remind me again.

SCP-022-1-5: I'm the guinea pig who just got by you. Don't tell me you've forgotten, Dr. Bastard.

██████:… Are you D-5619?

SCP-022-1-5: Inside this flesh. And then for your data, stupid ass, my name is [REDACTED]! Now TMD turn me back, or I swear to God I'll break your clever little head!

[END CONVERSATION]

Dr. ██████ then asked SCP-022-1-5 several questions to confirm its identity. Although it has been confirmed to be D-5619, no other useful information has been collected from SCP-022-1-5. It was kept in a cell until it reached its active time limit two days after expiration. Three weeks later, SCP-022-1-7 manifested in the form of D-5619. After a brief conversation, SCP-022-1-7 claims that it is an 89-year-old female.

Item Number: SCP-023

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: -[strikethrough] SCP-023 is to be kept in a standard 5 x 5 meter containment unit. [strikethrough]- SCP-023 is contained in a containment area at Site-██, which consists of two forked structures with two corridors interlaced and enclosed by a perimeter fence; The length of the aisle at each of the four ends is longer than 3 meters, and the ends of cloisters 3 and 4 have false doors in addition to the normal doors. The surveillance camera is located above the door at the end of the four ends.

At all times, both of SCP-023's eye sockets are to be filled with bulbous ocular implants made of hard rubber. When the implant deteriorates, it must be replaced. Deterioration can be determined by the brightness of the "fire" observed on the surveillance platform. When the brightness exceeds ██ candles, the implant must be replaced within 12 hours. It should be noted that the replacement should only be performed after full sunset1 and that both implants should not be replaced at the same time. No personnel are to look directly into SCP-023's eye sockets at any time.

As per Incident 023-27, all reflective objects, such as monitors, screens, or glasses of any kind, are not to be found within a 30 meter radius of SCP-023's containment area. The above requirements also include screen components that are connected to the surveillance camera. The above requirements are also mandatory for security personnel at designated outposts outside the containment area.

Testing of SCP-023 has been postponed indefinitely.

Description: SCP-023 is a large, genderless black long-haired canine (1.5 meters tall at the shoulders) with a pair of bright orange eyes and a protruding tooth [strikethrough]- (see Incident Report 023-26). When an individual makes eye contact with SCP-023, the instance or one of the instance's close relatives will die approximately 1 year from the time the sight is staggered. Although further trials have been postponed indefinitely, current data suggest that individuals are more likely to die than their relatives, and there is no apparent specific correlation between victims, nor has a particular preference been found for one type of victim. This may indicate that SCP-023's victims are completely random, however it is not known whether victims from previous trials died at the beginning or end of a one-year period. Attempts to terminate all individuals and their relatives who had made visual contact with SCP-023 by the end of the 1-year period ended with [DATA EXPUNGED].

Victims of SCP-023 have found that their appearance shows no signs of injury, though the rest of the body has been "filled" with highly compressed ash; The remainder includes, but is not limited to, any organs, tissues and circulatory system. All of the victims' musculature, bones, and brain tissues showed signs of exposure to temperatures above ██ degrees Celsius.

When SCP-023 is contained in a facility that does not resemble an "intersection" in appearance, it will be able to leap out of the wall, reach the nearest area eligible for containment, and incinerate all material in its path.

SCP-023 was first noticed by the Foundation in a church in ███████, when it launched an attack during a rally, directly killing █ civilians, and [REDACTED] due to eye contact. Following recovery of SCP-023, all witnesses and survivors were administered Class-B amnestics. The accident has been disguised as an arson case.

Addendum 023-001

On ██/██/████, SCP-023 exited the containment area through a wall (Incident Report 023-01). It was later discovered at the intersection of two cloisters within Site-███. Agent █████ noticed that SCP-023 looked similar to [REDACTED]. SCP-023's Special Containment Procedures have been updated. The research assistant ███████ was reprimanded for this negligence.

Addendum 023-002

Since the first containment on 10/12/██94, ███ staff and ██ civilian deaths have been attributed to SCP-023.

Addendum 023-003

Requests to upgrade to Keter are being evaluated.

Appendix 023-004:

SCP-1111-1 and SCP-023 may be two variants of the same phenomenon, as they have been found to share several identical properties: sensitivity to geographical location, destructive, and a similar canine appearance. An in-depth investigation into this phenomenon is ongoing. Due to the inability of SCP-1111-1 to be captured, research is currently focused on SCP-023.
