scp-043 scp-044
Item Number: SCP-043
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-043 does not require special containment, but is not recommended for use outside of experimentation. A turntable should be placed in the same room at all times for experimentation.
Description: SCP-043 appears to be a plastic replica of the Beatles' album "The White Album". However, a recent inspection found that there were no grooves on this record. However, regardless of the starting position of the stylus, the record can still be played from start to finish.
When the 29th song is played, the record does not play the track "Revolution 9", but instead stops spinning, and faint breathing can be heard. Sometimes entities that make breathing sounds will speak in a male voice. The entity answers questions and displays an encyclopedic knowledge of the music industry, music theory, and the gossip trivia of many bands and artists. However, the entity refused to answer questions regarding the Beatles or its own personal details.
Inside the outer packaging of the record, a small handwritten note was found that read:
Limited Edition: 1/1
Thanks, John!

Item No: SCP-045
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-045 must be kept in decompression chamber 32-s(D) at all times. The air inside the decompression chamber 32-s (D) should consist of inert gases (preferably xenon and helium). If SCP-045 is exposed to normal air, the entire containment area is to be sealed and heavily filled with helium until overseer-level personnel order the lockdown to be lifted.
Any personnel entering the chamber are to be equipped with full pressure suits with built-in oxygen respirators and to avoid contact with SCP-045.
Description: At ████'█ west longitude and ████'█ north latitude, SCP-045 was discovered while dormant in a submarine heat stream deep in ████ ████████, ████ ███████, and █████ (████). It was found during an underwater expedition and moved to a spherical diving tank. The dive chamber was found after a week of diving, floating several kilometers away from its original location and filled with unbelievably high pressure. These conditions alarmed the Foundation, and the submersible pod was quickly retrieved.
SCP-045, when dormant, is a perfect icosahedron composed of particles whose spectral data and known data do not match. Because it is often exposed to high pressures, researchers have theorized that SCP-045 has taken on this shape due to the pressure effects acting on it. SCP-045 reacts with atmospheric nitrogen to produce large amounts of water. Because the mass of the water produced exceeds the mass of available nitrogen, it is safe to assume that SCP-045 is using the mass of a source other than its location.
SCP-045 generates spherical bands of water at least five centimeters from its surface, allowing it to continuously use atmospheric nitrogen. These bands form a substable counterclockwise vortex that rotates at a speed proportional to the amount of water immersed in SCP-045. In the simulation, vortices can exist at depths of more than three thousand meters. Complete submersion in water with a pressure of more than three hundred and eighty (380) atmospheres (thirty-eight thousand five hundred (38,500) kPa) causes the vortex to collapse, at which point SCP-045 enters a dormant state due to lack of nitrogen.
SCP-045 produces water similar in composition to seawater, with temperatures ranging from ten to thirty-two (10-32) degrees Celsius when generated.
Addendum #045-1: Analysis of SCP-045's location has uncovered extraterrestrial meteorite material, plausible to the theory that the Earth did not obtain the water on it through geological means. Instead, when SCP-045 arrived on the planet, it rapidly began to generate water, eventually raising the sea level to where it is today.
Computer modelling has shown that seawater production peaked during the Precambrian period, after which continental drift and water formation caused SCP-045 to slowly sink into deep water of over three thousand eight hundred (3,800) fathoms, where it went into hibernation.
Addendum #045-2: A sudden earthquake in the Mediterranean Sea during mythological times may have briefly lifted SCP-045 to a "good place", causing SCP-045 to create a whirlpool well over two hundred (200) meters wide. This may explain the frequent references to Calybdis in mythology at the time.
Note on #045: "Listen, find me a planet with nitrogen in the atmosphere, and I'll get the go-ahead to launch this baby there." Cheap terraforming! ”——███████ ██████████
Item No: SCP-047
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-047 is to be kept in a 0.5m x 0.5m x 1m airtight storage box at all times. The box is to be locked in Locker 047a in Biosafety Level 3 Laboratory 047b. Any entry into SCP-047B and indoor activity is to be recorded by biometric scanning, closed-circuit cameras, and [REDACTED].
Entry into 047b requires approval from the project director and at least one O5 clearance. SCP-047 is to be considered a Class 4 infectious biohazard under all protocols, including mandatory post-contact quarantine. For this purpose, the kit Q047 has been supplied in laboratory 047b.
In the event of external contamination of SCP-047-1, Lockdown Protocol 047-01 "Yersinia 1" must be activated.
Description: SCP-047 is a heavily corroded, broken gas tank made of an iron[redacted] alloy. When exposed to the open air, the tank's material will slowly evaporate, producing a previously undocumented mutagenic gas. This gas has no effect on eukaryotes, such as humans, but can dramatically alter prokaryotes, especially the common human microbiota – microorganisms that live naturally on the surface of the skin and throughout the body. Rarely, this mutation has resulted in a "superbug" (collectively referred to as SCP-047-1), a naturally occurring symbiotic microorganism that is enhanced in its ability to survive and thus produces opportunistic pathogenicity (2). The pattern of changes caused by SCP-047 suggests that these highly infectious microorganisms are, at least to some extent, selective.
While the specific properties of each instance of SCP-047-1 depend on the bacteria from which it originates, several characteristics are broadly consistent across all instances of SCP-047-1 mutations:
enhanced viability of the bacterium in its natural habitat and other similar environments;
resistance to all antibiotics;
increased rate of reproduction and consumption of available raw materials;
Gram-positive bacteria2 develop the ability to produce spores;
enhanced ability to absorb, preserve, and share plasmids3, especially in gram-negative bacteria;
Spread due to the above characteristics.
SCP-047 has selectively mutagenesis several types of bacteria. It is possible to mutate bacteria cultured alone, but the process is much more effective for bacteria that live in human hosts. In general, mutagenesis of naturally symbiotic microorganisms is encouraged for experimental purposes. Following a containment breach on 30/01/2010 (see Incident Report Yersinia-047-01 (2010)), mutagenesis of the species that was originally a pathogen was forbidden, and all existing samples were to be destroyed.
Three specific species of bacteria mutagenic by SCP-047-1 have been of concern due to their involvement in the containment breach on ██/██/201█:
+ D-15978 infected with P-047-A, 2 days after initial exposure.
Propionibacterium 047-A (P-047-A) is a species of Propionibacterium acnes mutagenic by SCP-047.

Pathogenicity: Violent proliferation on the skin around the sebaceous glands. The pH of the skin is adjusted to a level that is toxic to skin cells. Extremely severe inflammation and leakage of immune cells. The eventual collapse of the skin structure leads to sepsis.
Transmission: Skin-to-skin transmission. It is able to remain active on inorganic surfaces for up to five hours.
Lethality: The mortality rate is about 40%. The disease progresses in 2 to 6 weeks. Very noticeable symptoms appear within 5-10 hours (after infection); It starts to be contagious within 2-5 hours.
Handling: Victims with visible symptoms must be isolated immediately. Dead victims should be cremated.
Streptococcus 047-C (S-047-C) is a form of Streptococcus paldynea mutagenes mutagenic by SCP-047.
+ Show details
- Hide details
Pathogenicity: Initially causes inflammation of the mouth and esophagus. Causes open sores in the mouth, allowing S-047-C to enter the bloodstream and infect other areas. The cause of death is usually infective inner meningitis.
Transmission: some aerosol-like; It is not transmitted by breathing, but occasionally by coughing and spitting. It can be kept active indefinitely by spores.
Fatality: about 35% fatality. If it is not fatal, it can become a recurrent chronic disease.
Handling: Subjects with any signs of oral infection are to be quarantined. Dead victims should be cremated.
Clostridium 047-A (C-047-A) is a species of Clostridium difficile mutagenes mutagenic by SCP-047.
+ Show details
- Hide details
Pathogenicity: Unknown. C-047-A was obtained by tissue culture and has never been exposed to humans. There are no samples present in Foundation control.
Spread: Unknown. May be transmitted through fecal contamination as is the case with Clostridium difficile. Due to their smaller, stronger spores, they may also mix with flatulence (5) to form aerosols. The effect of absorption of C-047-A aerosols is unpredictable.
Pathogenicity: Unknown. It is assumed that there is a very high risk of destruction of the gastrointestinal endothelium, resulting in inflammation, sepsis, toxic megacolon.
Handling: Until further research is completed, victims are to be isolated and placed under round-the-clock medical observation to study the functional diagnostics of this breed. Dead victims should not be cremated until adequate etiological research has been completed.
Recovery Log 047: SCP-047 was recovered from the Site-██ security laboratory on ██/██/199█ by a Foundation Biological Disaster Recovery Team in response to a complete breach of activity. Test logs indicate that the research team was attempting to contain [DATA EXPUNGED] in a Class ██ anti-SCP compression gas tank, resulting in the mixing of [REDACTED] and [REDACTED]. A full molecular analysis of this can be found in [REDACTED]. The first release of gases when SCP-047's structure was destroyed triggered an "overgrowth" of numerous types of SCP-047-1, killing all staff in the laboratory within █ hours. Contaminated Site-██ personnel complied with standard Foundation quarantine/containment protocols, and the infection was successfully contained.
Footnotes
1. This bacterium is famous because of one of the members called Yersinia pestis, which caused the Black Death.
2. Gram stain: a method used to identify bacteria, invented in 1884 by the Danish physician Hans Christian Gram. The object of Gram staining is the cell wall of bacteria. Different bacteria react differently under the action of this staining method, which can be divided into two categories: gram-positive bacteria, whose cell wall is blue-purple after staining; Gram-negative bacteria, red after staining. This is an important method to identify bacterial species and is useful for the clinical diagnosis and treatment of diseases caused by bacterial infection.
3. Plasmids: Non-cellular chromosomes or nuclear regions attached to cells that are originally smaller DNA molecules that can replicate autonomously. It is found in many bacteria as well as in organisms such as yeast, and even in organelles such as mitochondria in plants. In simple terms, it can be understood as the "genetic material" of bacteria.
