Chapter 1012: The Buddha of Incense Accumulation
Furthermore, Vimala asked the Bodhisattvas of Incense, "What is the saying of incense?" ”
Now that the meal was finished, Vimal asked the great bodhisattvas from the incense country above, what did the Buddha say?
The Bodhisattva said, "I have no words to say, but I use incense to make the heavens and men enter the law." ”
The Bodhisattvas sit under the incense tree and smell the wonderful incense, and they will attain all the virtues and Tibetan samadhi.
To be a samadhi, the bodhisattva has all the merits of the bodhisattva.
The word "soil" here is pronounced as "degree" in the old way, and the Buddhist scriptures of the past add a point to the upper right corner of this earth character to indicate that the pronunciation is different from that of soil.
Some people don't understand, they still read the soil, alas, the old soil is the old soil!
The great bodhisattvas said that we don't use words, mouths, or scriptures to talk about the Dharma over there, and we use our nose to contemplate the Dharma (this contemplation is the meaning of visualization, and we need to read the sound of "infusion").
The land of the incense Buddha is to use the nose to contemplate the practice, and you can realize the Tao by smelling the fragrance.
The great bodhisattva is sitting under the tree and meditating, smelling the fragrance of the tree, and then he can attain it, get merit and achieve samadhi, and at the same time have all the merits of a bodhisattva.
The first step in our study of Buddhism is to cultivate merit and merit, and if merit is not sufficient, wisdom will not be initiated, wisdom will not be initiated, and there will be no way to attain Bodhi.
Everyone's thoughts of enlightenment are all delusions, and they don't even have a little good deed, let alone merit!
Cultivation is to correct one's own psychology and behavior, initiate great compassion and altruistic psychology and behavior, achieve merit, and complete wisdom, so as to become enlightened and become a Buddha.
The cultivation of the Buddha world of incense above is different from the world of sampa in that they are achieved by observing and smelling the incense with their noses, and the cultivation of each Buddha land is a deep one.
Because the sivent beings in the world of sampa have heavy karma and many troubles, there are 84,000 troubles in a single thought, so the Buddha is very compassionate to this world and says 84,000 convenient methods.
The six roots of practice can lead to enlightenment, for example, chanting the Buddha is to recite the root of the mind, reciting the sound is to use the root of the tongue, and the Guanyin method is to use the root of the ear, and so on.
The nose is cultivated by smelling the fragrance, and our world lights incense in front of the Buddha, but I personally don't approve of burning incense.
Buddhist scriptures talk about incense, there are many kinds of incense, etc., burning incense will pollute the air, the same as smoking.
People asked me why I smoked, and I said it was because I wanted to be a bodhisattva, and a bodhisattva had to endure being smoked every day, and some bodhisattvas had their faces blackened.
Some incense is made of perfume incense, which is also not good, and it is easy to have evil thoughts when you meditate and smell it (this evil thought does not necessarily refer to the evil thoughts between men and women), which will attract some unnecessary obstacles.
The real incense, for those who study Tantra, is only sandalwood. Sandalwood is found in the tropics and temperate zones, and there are many in India, and the price is relatively expensive.
As for whether there are people in the Central Plains who have realized the Tao because of the fragrance?
I heard of a poet who had been working hard for many years but had not attained enlightenment, and one day he asked his master to give him a simple and concise way to enlighten the Tao.
He is also a stealing heart, stealing the psychology of stealing, his master is a Zen master, in the temple of Lushan, Jiangxi.
The Zen master asked him, "Have you ever read the Analects?" ”
This sentence doesn't matter if you hear it today, but it was very insulting at the time, and in ancient times, children had to memorize the Analects at the age of six.
That poet is so well learned, and asking such a question is tantamount to asking a university scholar if he has read a book like "The Beginning of Man", which is really embarrassing.
The poet replied, "Yes." ”
The Zen master said, "The second and third sons think of me as a hidden? I have no one to hide. ”
It is recorded in the Analects that one day Confucius told a few students beside him, "You young people, do you think I still have a hand?" I don't keep any secrets! Why don't you understand?
When the Zen master quoted this sentence, he was scolding the poet.
The poet was still at a loss when he heard this, but we knew that he must have felt uncomfortable at this time, and such a writer and celebrity was scolded like this.
The Zen master saw that he didn't understand, so he walked out of the mountain gate.
The poet followed behind, and it was autumn and the osmanthus flowers were in full bloom.
Speaking of osmanthus, my habit delusions are here again.
When I went to Sichuan CD alone, in the fall, we liked to go to Xindu County, which is forty miles away. There is a lake called Guihu Lake in Xindu, and there is a Zen jungle called Baoguang Temple next to the lake. When I got there, there was a scene of thousands of lotus flowers, and the fragrance of osmanthus flowers all the way, and this realm has now become a dream.
Back to the poet, he followed the Zen master for a while.
The Zen master suddenly turned around and asked him, "Do you smell the fragrance of the woody flowers?" Do you smell osmanthus? The psalmist replied, "Smell." ”
The Zen master said, "I have nothing to hide. ”
The poet was enlightened at that time. This is a well-known public case, and the poet heard the wood and realized the Tao.
Of course, in the above public case, the poet just broke the initial level, and there is something to do later. I quote to illustrate the truth that the Buddha of Xiangji smells the fragrance and realizes the Tao, not in words.
I used to have a Taoist friend, he meditated without asking sandalwood and couldn't enter the meditation, so I laughed at him for being a native of the country of Zhongxiang, who broke the precepts and was beaten.
