Chapter 1013: How Buddha Shakyamuni Says the Dharma (I)
The bodhisattvas asked Vimalaya: What does the Venerable Shakyamuni say?
The Bodhisattvas of the Incense Kingdom asked Vimala, "What does Shakyamuni Buddha, the leader of your world, say?"
Vimala said: All beings in this land are strong and difficult to transform, so the Buddha said strong words to subdue them.
Vimal lay man reported to the Bodhisattva of the world above about our ugly side, and he probably sighed first, alas! The beings of our world are stubborn and self-serving, which is very difficult. That's why the Buddha had to say some cruel things to subdue them, and if he wasn't ruthless, he couldn't deal with them.
Therefore, the Buddha talked about the retribution of the six realms, the three calamities and the eight tribulations to educate the sentient beings in the world, and what kind of physical evil deeds he talked about, what kind of physical retribution he would encounter.
You have to know that there are many actions that are not done consciously, but physically, and you have to experience them.
What kind of evil deeds are "physical evil deeds"? For example, when everyone sits, almost no two people sit in the same way.
Confucianism talks about "sitting upright", danger is right, and it is difficult to say what is sitting upright.
In terms of Buddhism, it can be said that only the seven-limbed sitting method of the Buddha Virujana is the right sitting.
The Confucian sitting is different, the previous chair is not like the sofa, the Western-style sofa has been sitting for a long time, and the bones are easy to have problems when they are old.
In the old-fashioned chair, there is no way to bend down when you sit up, so you have to sit with a straight waist.
In the past, when we were juniors, when there were elders, we only dared to sit on the chair with half of our buttocks, and our waists were naturally straight.
I didn't sit on stilts before I was thirty, and I didn't dare to sit on my stilts even if no one saw me.
There was a figure in Confucianism, when a British dignitary came to visit, he talked with the guests all night, drank tea and ate melon seeds. When he got out of his seat and stood up, the British found two footprints in the melon seed shell, indicating that he had been sitting there for several hours without moving his legs!
In fact, this way of sitting is very healthy for the human body.
That's why I don't sit on the couch, and occasionally I have to sit on the couch outside, and it's very uncomfortable to sit for a while.
Sitting on the sofa makes people become shrimps, and the body is crooked, which will be very comfortable at first, and the spirit will get worse and worse after sitting for a long time.
In the same way, I also advise people not to sleep on sofa beds, because they will have problems with their bones when they are old. The middle-fashioned bed is made of wooden planks with straw on top. Now I sleep on tatami mats and a mat on top, so of course it is much more comfortable to sleep.
Speaking of the evil deeds of the body, there are so many evil deeds of the body that you can write a book about it. Many of the Hinayana precepts are to prevent evil deeds, such as washing hands before eating, and washing with water after finishing the large one, and not rubbing straw paper, but when you arrive in the Central Plains, you will change it.
These Hinayana precepts are not considered heavy vows, but belong to the precepts of the Regency and correct the habits of life.
The Book of Rites also says, "Three hundred etiquette, three thousand prestige." "There are too many prestige, and most of them are to prevent evil deeds.
Evil deeds in the body are the retribution of evil deeds in the body, so Shakyamuni Buddha taught everyone that the body should not have evil deeds.
What is the retribution of evil deeds?
Unhealthy, sickly.
More than 2,000 years ago, the Buddha paid great attention to hygiene, which seems to be nothing remarkable now, but in India at that time, it was very pertinent.
The education of these behaviors is especially abundant in the Hinayana scriptures.
As soon as the people of the Central Plains learned the Buddha, they read the "Diamond Sutra", the Silver Gang Sutra, and the Bronze Gang Sutra, so they knew less about the behavior education of the Buddha.
There is retribution for the evil deeds of the mouth.
What is the evil of the mouth? For example, biting your fingers, some people can't change it when they grow up, it's really terrible!
