Chapter 799: Fourteen Grades (I)
"At that time, Sariputta, the Buddha and the Buddha, made a thought: If the Bodhisattva's heart is pure, then the Buddha's land is pure, and when I am a Bodhisattva, will my mind not be pure? It's that the Buddha's land is not pure. "It's a very dramatic scene. Sariputta is the relics on the Heart Sutra, he is the first wisdom among the Buddha's monks, many scriptures are taught by the Buddha because he got up to ask the Buddha for instructions, and he is also a disciple who often follows the Buddha.
At this time, "Sariputta inherits the Buddha's power and is reciting", which is to declare that Sariputta is not unaware of this problem, although he appears to be a Hinayana arhat, but he is a Mahayana Bodhisattva, and he will not understand, but pretend not to understand, as if he is singing a double reed with the Buddha.
The Buddha sensed him with the power of his mind and asked him to ask questions, which was the mutual communication between the mind of the Buddha and his disciples. So Sariputta had a thought in his heart that if the bodhisattva's mind was pure, then when he became a Buddha, his Buddha land would be the pure land.
"When the Buddha knew his thoughts, he told him: What is the meaning of the clouds? Will not the sun and the moon be pure? And the blind are gone. "The Buddha sensed Sariputta's mind and said to him, "What do you mean, aren't the sun and the moon clean?" Why can't blind people see the light? The Buddha is saying that pure light is everywhere, so why can't it be pure? It is because of the sins of man's own mind.
"Yes, no, Shizun: It is the blind who passes, not the sun and the moon." Sariputta replied that not being able to see the pure light of the sun and moon has nothing to do with the sun and moon itself. The sun and the moon are always shining, and the blind cannot see the light of the sun and the moon themselves. The word "pass" is used here to represent the karmic karma accumulated in many lifetimes, so the eyes cannot see the light.
"Sariputta: Because of the sins of all sentient beings, they do not see the purity of the land as they come, and they are not to blame." The Buddha told Sariputta, you are right, there is nothing impure in all the worlds, and sentient beings cannot see the majesty and purity of the land because of their sins. It's not that the Buddha doesn't come to sense you, it's that you yourself can't be sensed. For example, the sun always shines on the earth, but if you hide in the house and take the house as your own world, you can't see the sun. All Buddhas and bodhisattvas want to instill their wisdom and light into sentient beings, but sentient beings themselves block and do not accept it, and they are self-righteous.
"Sariputta: I am pure in this land, and you are not seen." The Buddha then told Sariputta that this world is the Pure Land of the Buddha, but you can't see it, you can only see the dirty side. At this point, let me give you an example, and you can refer to it. Sitting in this room, the environment is very clean! The walls are made of mud and bricks, but the essence of dirt and bricks is dirt, and if you put mud in the house, you will be dirty. There is wallpaper on the wall, and if you go to the paper mill and see it, you will know that the pulp is smelly and dirty. Nothing was originally clean, but after being made by hand, it seems to be clean now.
If you go to the kitchen, it's dirty, but the dishes are full of flavor and flavor. Therefore, the Heart Sutra tells you that impurity and impurity are a higher level of truth, the truth of the Dharma, and the truth of the ontology. Here we are also talking about the ontological principle, but we are also talking about the phenomenon of the truth. All the phenomena of the material world, pure and impure, are created by your wisdom and merit. The Buddha told Sariputta, "My land is actually very clean, but unfortunately you can't see it: it seems that our generation is a little luckier than Sariputta, and we see a little shadow." Look at the photos taken by the astronauts in outer space, how beautiful this Earth is! It's very clean! This truth is very deep and needs to be investigated.
At that time, the snail Sanskrit king said Sariputta: Don't do it, saying that this Buddha land is impure. So what? I saw that Shakyamuni Buddha's land was pure, such as being in the heavenly palace. "Then there was one of the great Brahma Heavenly Kings, the Brahma King, who had his hair curled on the right side, and he told Sariputta, "You are wrong, you think that this world is not clean, but from our eyes, this world is pure and majestic, and it is as beautiful as our free heavenly palace."
