Chapter 840: Forty-Eight Grades
As the Buddha said, bhikkhus! Thou shalt be born and old and perish.
If you receive a reporter with no birth, then you are in the right position, and in the right position, you will not be remembered, and you will not be able to attain the three bodhisattvas.
The Buddha once said to the bhikkhus, "Your birth, old age, and death are all in this thought, this moment, and there is no past, present, or future."
If you understand this, if you understand this, you will be called enlightenment.
Therefore, Zen Buddhism is not to understand the truth, but to achieve that realm, to have no way to endure life, to be born without being born, to perish without extinguishing, now is, where can I find it?
What is it now? Now it's a thought that turns into emptiness, and you don't want to empty it, but you create an emptiness, which is the sixth consciousness realm.
It's it that comes to empty you, you can't stay if you want to, you can't stay in the past, the future hasn't come yet, once you change the present, you can't stay in the present.
So the emptiness, don't let you empty it, the original empty yours.
If you understand this, you can get the method of non-life, and only when you understand the method of non-life can you really get the instructions of the Buddha and Bodhisattva.
The non-life method is the right position to truly study the Buddha, and if you don't have the lifeless method, all your practice will not be in the right position.
Therefore, when a bodhisattva is in the right position, he does not care about being remembered, nor does he care what kind of enlightenment he has attained.
In the morning, we talked about the method of hiding secrets, and pressed all the Buddha statues underneath, what is the reason?
It is the expression of the law, which breaks people's attachment to the law, not only has no self-attachment, but also has no attachment; There is a Buddha, there is a Dharma, and you are not truly liberated. If you have truly attained the three bodhisattvas of the Anuttara and attained the supreme enlightenment of great enlightenment, you do not feel that you are enlightened.
I feel that I have been enlightened, and he already has the appearance of me, people, sentient beings, and longevity. Because without self, there is nothing to gain.
"Yun He Maitreya is remembered for a lifetime?"
After speaking of this, the Vimala monk then asked Maitreya: "You are said to have received the inscription of Shakyamuni Buddha, what do you use to receive the inscription?"
This is a really nitpicky question! It's inexplicable, it's so simple!
The Buddha clearly told him that he would be in the next life, but he wanted to ask what he remembered in his life?
Is it easy to understand when you think about it? Not easy! Let's not talk about the things of the past life and the next life, it's too troublesome.
All of you are listening to the Bible right now, do you know that the heart you are listening to the Bible now is yesterday, tomorrow, or now? Or is it the past, is it the future? Think about it.
Everyone here has a lot of knowledge, and your level of knowledge is the point that your mother brought with you when she was born? Or did you add many later?
From the time you have remembered so much knowledge and experience to now, and now you have the mind with these abilities, and the mind when you first became sensible, is it one or two? Let's talk about it.
The Buddha also discerned that the Buddha asked how old the King of Persian was in the "Lengyan Sutra".
The king said, "Sixty-two." ”
The Buddha asked, "How old were you to see the water of the Ganges?" ”
Wang said, "I remember when I was two years old, my mother took me to worship. ”
The Buddha said, "You are now sixty-two years old, from a child to a prime of life, and then to an old age, although your appearance has changed so much, and you don't care about your eyes, but when you look at the water of the Ganges, is it the same as when you were two years old?" ”
"Of course there is one," said the king. ”
The Buddha said, "There is no difference in the nature of seeing according to age, and the nature of seeing is always there." ”
So, now you can think and remember the mind, this thought, it has no time, no space! We must grasp this truth.
The same thing, different statements, Vimala asked Maitreya Bodhisattva, have you been remembered all your life?
In other words, will you be remembered for the next life?
Is there really a past, a present, and a future?
The past, the present, the future, yesterday, today and tomorrow are divided by man because of the difference between day and night in the physical world.
You knew yesterday that you were hungry to eat, and today you know it, and tomorrow you know that there is no time for this knowable nature, there is no past life or future life, and there is a dependent voidness.
"To be remembered from being born? For the sake of being remembered from the destruction? ”
Everyone now feels that they are alive, but in fact they are fake, and they are fake! If there is a temporary existence by chance, even if you live to be 100 years old, these 100 years will pass with a snap of your fingers from the perspective of the universe.
We who have lived for dozens of years, and when we think back to our youth, it seems like it was yesterday.
We walk to a distant place, look forward and feel that there is still a long way to go, and when we walk past, we look back, it's very short, right?
Life is this truth, after decades, looking back, very fast, so young people look ahead, feel that the future is boundless, while the elderly look back and feel very short!
So we live, whether we look forward or backward, everything is empty, it is an accidental and temporary existence.
When Vimal speaks of "being alive" and "being destroyed", we should pay special attention to the fact that we live as if we were alive, where is the true self? If you never grasp it, then this life is all fake, not yours.
So is dead really dead? Nor is it so, because it is destroyed.
If it is born, it is also like extinction, and if it goes, it is also like coming, so it is called such as coming, that is, self-nature.
This translation is wonderful, and it can also be said that it is like coming, and there is nowhere to come and nowhere to go.
Shakyamuni Buddha doesn't seem to be in this world now, is he gone? No, nowhere to go, everywhere is called Rulai.
Another clever translation is true, and there is no truth as true, as if it is true, and there is no falsehood.
"If you are born to be a reporter, if you are not alive." Vimala went on to say that the present is what it is, as if it had not been born.
"If it is destroyed, it will be destroyed, and if it is destroyed, it will be destroyed." If not dead. It's just that everyone is sitting now, I'll say, you listen, it's like life and death, the previous sentence is gone, it's empty.
Did you say empty? Besides, you'll still hear it.
But the nature of being able to hear in this is immortal and imperishable, and the dependent nature is empty. If you want to experience it in this place, then you can learn Buddhism and participate in Zen.
"All sentient beings are the same", all are the same, what else do sentient beings ask for life and death? There is no life and no death.
You see, now I knock on the table, and the "knock" will be fixed, which is if you don't move, pay attention! It's this moment, who told you to move? It's a pity that you missed it again, and it seems to be, huh! It's the same! If you call it again, it won't.
This is the principle of "as", so all sentient beings are like that.
All beings feel alive, as if there is this part of the universe, and so many people pass by...... It seems that many people have been in this world, and they have all passed.
