Chapter 1041: Bodhisattva Walk (2)
It comes from the common desire of all Buddhas and bodhisattvas. For example, the quality of our social atmosphere cannot be determined by the quality of the leader alone, but must be slowly formed by the joint efforts of every member on this road.
The Lengyan Sutra says, "If you can turn things, then you will come as well." ”
Studying Buddhism should not affect one's own heart because of fluctuations in the external environment, but can affect the external environment with one's own psychology.
On the other hand, if it is a matter of turning the mind and being affected by the changes in the external environment, it is an ordinary man.
Each Buddha's vow is different, and this is the difference between Buddha and other religions, not just one leader's vow.
For example, the Medicine Buddha's 12 vows are that there are 12 gods who will represent the 12 constellations, that there are 12 months in a year, and that there are 12 hours in a day.
His vows are different from Amitabha's forty-eight vows. However, if you go all the way to the Eastern Medicine Buddha Land, you will come to the Buddha Land of Amitabha Buddha in the West, so the Pure Land of Glazed Light in the East and the Pure Land of Elysium in the West are almost the same.
If you want to understand this truth, you must familiarize yourself with the wishes and realms of each Buddha, and don't read the past carelessly.
So what do you want to do after you study Buddhism?
It is necessary to "become one's own Buddha land". The so-called learning of Buddhism is to follow the Buddha to learn, and it is to learn Buddhism. It's not like ordinary people who study Buddhism, they all have something in their hearts, and they are all selfish psychology of asking for the blessing of the Buddha. It is also the state of mind to pay attention to learning the solemn beauty of each Buddha's Buddha land and learning his deeds, so that he will succeed in becoming a Buddha in the future.
Once, there was a rich old overseas Chinese in Nanyang, he had the habit of the older generation in the Central Plains, the more money he had, the more he saved, he took a boat from Hong Kong to Shanghai, and bought a ticket for the big cabin.
The tea room on the ship was snobbish, and he couldn't see that he was a rich man, and he was impatient with the call of the old overseas Chinese, so he said, if you have the ability, you can open a shipping company by yourself!
The old man was angry, and when he arrived in Shanghai, he arranged for the establishment of a shipping company as soon as he went ashore, and asked someone to go to work in the snobbish tea house. Is this a vow? No, it's gambling. Got it?
When you listen to this story, you have to check your psyche and sometimes think that you are making a wish, but in fact you are coveting.
If you really make a vow, you don't want anything to come back, and learning Buddhism is the heart that can give up learning Buddhism. When we follow all the actions of the Buddha, we are learning the Buddha and practicing it.
Therefore, if you wish to be reborn in the Pure Land, I advise you to read the three sutras of the Pure Land: the Sutra of Amitayus, the Sutra of Amitayus, and the Sutra of Amitabha, so that you will know what is going on in the Elysian World.
If you want to study the origin of Amitabha Buddha, you have to look at the Lotus Sutra, which says that there was an emperor who gave birth to sixteen sons, and he later became a monk and became a Chase Outwitting Buddha, and sixteen sons also became monks, and Amitabha Buddha was one of them, and Shakyamuni Buddha was also one of them.
Why there are exactly sixteen sons, sixteen is two eights, this number has to be studied, and there is an inner meaning among them, this is Tantra, and you can practice if you find out these truths.
"Infinite giving, sufficient and good". If you give in unlimited amounts, you will have good and solemn rewards. Why do you want to offer flowers in front of the Buddha? According to the Buddhist scriptures, you will be beautiful in the next life; Offering incense in front of the Buddha, he will not have body odor in the next life; Those who give more medicine in this life will have less sickness in the next life. Although there are these sayings, but the good and solemn still give more, and if people are in pain, you are willing to help, and this help is also charity.
The first of the six paramitas is generosity. Again, there are three types of giving: internal giving, external giving, and fearless giving. Inner charity, also known as Dharma charity, is to help others spiritually and culturally, to preach the scriptures and teachings, and to answer questions for others. Giving outside is also called giving with money, which is to help others with money. When we were children, we must read the "Zengguang Virtuous Texts of the Past Times", which has this sentence: "If you ask for someone, you need to ask for a husband, and if you want to help people, you need to help when you are in a hurry." This is the principle of financial generosity.
