Chapter 1010: An Uneaten Meal (Part I)

There will always be different voices and thoughts: there is little food, and everyone should eat.

Heterophonic is a special kind of Hinayana sound, which is a heterogeneous sound, although it is a study of Buddhism, but there is a deviation in opinion, it can also be regarded as a foreign way.

After the death of the Buddha, the disciples of the Buddha were divided into many sects, and their interpretation of the five aggregates and their experience in practice were different, so twenty sects were formed, and they disagreed with each other.

Many of these controversies have also been preserved, and this is the great thing about Buddhism, which can tolerate different opinions, and there are also their unique opinions in the "Treatise on the Wheel of Heterogeneous Sects".

At that time, the Hinayana people who heard different voices here heard that Vimal monks invited everyone to eat, and they thought to themselves, how can so many people share this bowl of rice?

You have to notice that Hinayana people are not prone to great compassion.

The Bodhisattva said: Don't listen to the sound of small virtues and small wisdom, weigh the immeasurable blessings and wisdom.

At that time, as soon as the person who heard the strange sound moved, the incarnate bodhisattva knew about it, and he warned him, "You should not use the small instrument of the person who heard the sound to estimate the immeasurable merits and wisdom of the Buddha, because this is not something you can speculate.

At this point, I'll start with a story.

It is said that the patriarch Bodhidharma arrived in the Central Plains, but he has not found a successor, so he meditated on the wall of Songshan Mountain.

The second ancestor Shenguang sought the Tao with the most sincere heart, and the Bodhidharma patriarch ignored him, so he kept standing in the snow with his palms folded and waiting.

The book doesn't say how long he stood up, but it does mention that the snow was above his knees.

How hard that is! But he did not waver, and as a result, Patriarch Bodhidharma turned around and asked him what he was asking for?

The Second Patriarch Shenguang said, "I want to ask the master to teach the supreme Dafa nectar method." ”

Why didn't he say anything else but nectar?

Patriarch Bodhidharma replied: "The Buddhas are supreme and wonderful, diligent, difficult to do, and endure without forbearance." How can you be small in virtue and wisdom, light and slow-hearted, and want to be true and hardworking. ”

Although Zen Buddhism does not speak of words, we can memorize these words for decades after reading them.

What's the use of you've only seen it? Not only do you have to memorize it, but you also have to take every sentence back to your heart to check yourself.

Because the Vimala Sutra talks about "small virtue and small wisdom" here, I quoted the words of Patriarch Bodhidharma.

Everyone felt that they were very sincere in learning Buddhism, and even became a monk and received ordination.

But these are all superficial articles, and you don't have sincere psychology and behavior, and you are learning the Fa with the "stealing hearts" that the Zen patriarch scolded.

To steal is to steal skillfully, to make a little merit, to show a little respect, then you think that you are terrible, and you want to get Dafa, that is impossible!

That's why Patriarch Bodhidharma said that the supreme Dafa is to be cultivated "diligently and diligently" from the beginningless tribulation, and it must be cultivated diligently and diligently since the beginningless tribulation.

What can you count as standing in the snow with your hands folded and waiting?

It's just a little loyalty!

It's not respectful, it's light-hearted, and slow-hearted.

If it were us, we would not be convinced, Ge Laozi, I have to hold you Bodhidharma Patriarch! I've worked so hard, and you're still saying that.

But the two ancestors had different divine lights, and they were scolded by Bodhidharma, and their arms were broken at this time. At this time, he had nothing to offer, nothing to show his sincerity, so he was so anxious that he could only take out the ring knife and cut off one of his arms to make offerings.

Before the second ancestor became a monk, he was already superb in learning and taught the Book of Changes.

After becoming a monk, he meditated in Hunan for many years, and still asks for the Bodhi Path.

You can sort out the process of seeking enlightenment from these patriarchs and Patriarch Milarepa into a book, and I believe everyone will shed tears when they read it.
