Chapter 996: The Right Way and the Evil Way (I)
Someone came to India and asked, "What is the right way and what is the wrong way?" ”
I explained to him the doctrine of the Bodhisattva of the Pearl-crowned Bodhisattva of "the right path and the evil way".
The Bodhisattva of the Pearl-crowned King said: The right path and the evil way are two. Those who live in the right path do not distinguish between evil and good. Leaving these two is the only way to enter.
When I wrote "Zen Sea Survey" a few decades ago, I said that religion is exclusive, rejecting others, like doing business, only I sell real goods, and everyone else is fake.
True Dharma is not like that, it is all-encompassing.
If you go and look at the "Huayan Sutra", it is said that the names of Buddhas in various places are different, some are called ancestors, emperors, and immortals, but in fact, they are all Buddhas.
So in the book, I say, what is the outer way?
The outer road is also the way, it is the outer road, and it takes tens of thousands of years to walk back.
What about the side door? The side door is also a door, and you say that the dog door is also a door, and you can also drill it! It's just a little more difficult than the others. Only by seeing the world in this way can we be inclusive. The Diamond Sutra also says, "All sages and sages are distinguished by non-action," and all masters and sages have attained enlightenment, but the degree of attainment is different. Those who teach kindergarten and those who teach universities are teachers, and you can't go to university without kindergarten teachers.
Therefore, the Bodhisattva of the Pearls told us that the right path and the evil path are all the way, and those who have truly attained the Dharma will not distinguish between the right path and the evil path. And many people in the outer path are better at kung fu than those who follow the right path, no matter what else, their physical training is better than yours, and they take less medicine, so they will compare you to you.
This is because there are different ways to get started, each with its own strengths. If you look down on others, you are not a student of Buddhism, and those who study Buddhism are truly equal to all sentient beings.
Even if this person really goes the wrong way, you have to have compassion and pity on him, and I don't know how many calamities it will take to get back.
Only by being able to leave the concept of good and evil and to be tolerant of everything can we enter the only way.
The Central Plains culture also talks about tolerance, "tolerance is greatness", and it can tolerate all people, so that the merit will gradually increase.
If the amount is small, the virtue will not be great, and the merit is also cultivated by the belly of the mind, remember! There is a statue of Maitreya Bodhisattva at the entrance of the temple, which is also a reminder that you should learn from his big belly.
Someone asked two questions, the first is to ask, the practice should be in-depth, or to hold mantras or to chant Buddha or to visualize, then what does Tantric Santanic Yoga say?
The second question is, can I first practice the Pure Land Method in order to eliminate karmic obstacles, and then go back to recite the Buddha?
The first question, yes, there is nothing wrong with having a deep practice. These are the words that the Dharma encourages you, and not only in practice, but also in reading and learning.
For example, if you dig a well, you dig five feet deep on the first day and pick out twenty loads of mud, and on the second day you dig five feet deep, but you only pick out fifteen loads of mud, because it is more difficult to pick out the mud when it is deep.
When you dig ten feet deep, you may only pick up one load of mud a day.
A well was dug until the water was seen, and it was successful. A deep course requires you to dig down and dig to the end in one go. Don't dig for a day or two, feel as if there is no effect and no water, give up, and find another place to dig, this will not be successful.
So we are encouraged to go deeper, which is one of the principles of our practice.
Now you ask the tantra body, mouth, mind, and the three tantric yoga, what does it say? That's how to say it!
What else to say?
Do you think that chanting mantras and chanting Buddhas are two different doors, and don't visualization and mudra becoming three or four doors again?
This concept is completely wrong, it can be seen that you are studying Buddhism, and you have no real practice, which is called a frog jumping into a well, and it doesn't work!
