At that time, Sun Ce's uncle Wu Jinghe and his brother Sun Ben attacked Fan Neng, Zhang Ying and others, and failed to win for more than a year. Sun Ce then asked Yuan Shu and said: "My family has an old favor to the people in the Jiangdong region, and I am willing to help my uncle attack Hengjiang." After the capture of Hengjiang, I returned to my hometown to recruit soldiers and horses, and I could gather 30,000 soldiers to assist the general in pacifying the world. Yuan Shu knew that Sun Ce was dissatisfied with him, but because Liu Xuan, the assassin of Yangzhou, occupied Qu'a at that time, and Wang Lang, the Taishou of Huiji County, was in this county, he thought that Sun Ce might not be able to defeat them, so he agreed to Sun Ce's request, and the above table recommended him as the captain of Zhichong. Sun Ce led more than 1,000 infantry and dozens of cavalry to set out, recruiting troops as he went, and by the time he arrived in Liyang, it had increased to five or six thousand.
