Volume 1 Chapter 59 Iron Tools

After a period of sunny weather, the season has arrived, and recently the weather has been cloudy and sunny every day, occasionally falling for half a day or a shower of rain, which has seriously affected my life and construction career!

At the same time, this rain has also completely lowered the comfortable temperature, which has basically stabilized the temperature within 15 degrees, and it seems that with the decrease in temperature and the mildew season.

The drying time of the bricks and tiles will be extended for a few days, and the construction of the house will be forced to be postponed for a while, so that the time can be used to take care of other things before the bricks and tiles are fired in this kiln.

After all, the preparation of the house was already completed a long time ago, and the wood could be directly removed from the collapse of the previous house.

......

When I checked the crops in my spare time, I found that the sweet potatoes had been ripe for many days, and the main task today was to recover all the sweet potatoes of more than ten square meters from the field.

After many times of cutting and feeding the sheep, the remaining length of the sweet potato Tengman was only less than one meter, and after all of it was cut, I fed it all to the sheep.

happily dug the first hoe down, and the luck was very bad to dig up the sweet potatoes in the soil directly, and cut them in two.

However, I am still satisfied with the size of the dug up, compared to the small size when I dug up three or four sweet potatoes in the woods last year, today there are three large and small sweet potatoes in one plant, and the largest one is bigger than a fist!

As I dug more and more, I also had a further understanding of the yield, and the planting area of more than ten square meters almost got 150 catties of sweet potatoes, which was very surprising!

Generally, the yield per mu of farmers who specialize in planting sweet potatoes can reach several thousand catties, and the highest yield varieties and refined operations can even reach 10,000 catties.

Due to the fact that the cultivation is not very fine, the varieties are not particularly good, and the fertilizer is insufficient, the gap is still very obvious, but there is no need to be presumptuous.

The storage of sweet potatoes is a problem, and now there are about three months before planting after the year, and I am worried that they may spoil simply in the house, and there is no preservative, which is a big problem, especially after the quantity is too much.

The rot of sweet potatoes is like an infectious disease, one bad will infect the next few neighbors, and then pass on one by one, so when storing, you must choose the ones that are not broken and the ones that sell well, at least to reduce the probability of rotting.

After digging it out, except for putting one or twenty catties to eat outside, all the rest was buried in the ground by me, which is also the practice of a large number of sweet potatoes at home when I was a child.

Dig a pit about half a meter deep directly in the ground, and cover it with a layer of plastic film, and I can only cover it with soil when I don't have it, and then I don't need to worry about it, I only need to check the status every ten days and half a month.

Now the place of eating is not fixed, basically in the morning and evening in the cave, and during the day on the top of the mountain to make bricks, so it is not so troublesome to take it back.

When you need it, just grab a few catties in the pit, and the left and right are thirty or fifty meters away!

After being buried in the ground with soil, there is basically no problem with storing it for three or four months without wind and rain, of course, there may be a small part of it rotting, but without modern means such as preservatives, this level of loss is still acceptable.

Another purpose of this is also to prevent myself from losing control of my mouth, and if I eat it openly, I am worried that I will not be able to increase the planting area in the next season, and the safest way is to keep it out of my eyes.

......

After settling the dug sweet potatoes, I want to make a new dish - vegetable soup, and now I have oil, salt, and enough greens, I want to make some new dishes to get rid of my greasy mouth!

It's very simple, pick a handful of green leaves from the ground, wash them, boil them in water until the leaves are soft, and then soak them in cold water!

Remove from the water, squeeze out the water, then chop the leaves, like chopping dumplings, then put oil in the pot to heat, add the chopped leaves and stir-fry for a while, then add water to boil, add a little chicken essence and salt.

The steps are very simple, but it's a pity that I don't have enough seasoning, if there are chili peppers or lard, the taste will rise by two grades, and the leaves are a little old, if you use excess seedlings to make this dish, it would be better!

Even so, the taste can be said to be first-class!

At the same time as harvesting sweet potatoes, the ginger that has been neglected for a long time has also been harvested, and the yield of this season has increased more, which is close to 30 catties, but it is a pity that the storage time is too short to make me anxious, and after the harvest of the last season, it will only be stored for a month before all the mold and rot.

At this time, I suddenly thought of the method of drying the fish, I can wash it and cut it into thin slices, dry it and seal it for preservation, and this problem is so easily solved.

It's just that a limited clay pot is going to be occupied again, and it seems that it is imperative to take time out to make pottery, and most of the pottery destroyed by the typhoon has not been replenished until now!

......

Before I knew it, it was early December, and after the sweet potatoes and ginger had been retrieved, and at least a week before the bricks were drying, I set off again for the ship while I had free time.

Today's priority was to get some iron, and there was really not much iron left at home, and even the weight of making a hoe was lacking, so the idea had to hit the ship again.

I think after such a long period of volatilization, the smell of the ship should not be as obvious as it was at the beginning, and recalling the original smell makes me creepy now!

With purpose and an understanding of the basics, the preparation before the departure was more adequate.

First of all, it was a wet short-sleeved mask, and two wooden sticks tens of centimeters long were prepared, and two handfuls of hay were tied to each end of it as torches.

Their purpose is to light the dark cabin, but unfortunately the diesel fuel cannot be ignited, otherwise the torch will burn steadily and continuously in it, and two handfuls of hay can only provide light for a minute at most, which should be enough for me to check the situation of the bottom cabin very reluctantly.

......

When I walked into the boat again, my heart refused, but when I thought of the role of iron, this refusal turned into greed, which is one of the inferior roots of human beings and cannot be changed!

Fortunately, the smell inside is not as strong as last time, but the deep-rooted taste still exists, and the blood of rotten fish and shrimp is dried on the boat, and it is estimated that there will be this smell for many years, and it is still uncomfortable to smell!

The fish compartment was not intended to be entered, there was nothing of value in it, and my target was mainly to keep an eye on the living compartment on the lower level, which I had seen very perfunctorily last time.

The hay torch was lit inside, and sure enough, the light was what humans liked, and the dark and eerie feeling was swept away in an instant!

There weren't many things in there, most of them had been removed during the last sweep, and there were just things like cigarettes and slippers scattered on the floor, but I gave up when I saw their state.

Valuable things are finding a working lighter, a few books, two shirts, a pack of tissues, and a thermos mug in the corner, and nothing else that can be used.

After rummaging through the boxes and cabinets again and making no new discoveries, he had to get down to business and dismantle the ship's iron and iron products.

This work was easy at the beginning, and the tools and parts that were easy to disassemble on the ship were ironware, but after the parts that were easy to disassemble at the back did not have any trouble, it became troublesome, and it was difficult to remove a few catties of iron in half a day!

In five hours, I got a total of about 30 catties of various iron products on the ship, and it became more difficult to disassemble them again, thinking that these dozens of catties could already build a lot of good things, and I was ready to return.

There are still a lot of iron tools on the ship, but they can only be dismantled slowly when they have more free time in the future.

I suddenly saw the flag on the ship before I returned, and I was going to take it off the ship and take it home, and seeing it would at least provide me with a certain sense of belonging and intimacy!

After having a lot of iron, I felt that I had enough confidence, and my waist board was also stiff, and in one word, I was "wealthy", and I wanted to make more tools.

For the time being, I have a plan to make iron tools that include a kitchen knife, which I melted down last time I made nails, and a large shovel, shovel, and saw, and the hoe also needs to be made of iron.

......

As soon as I got home and rested, I was making all kinds of molds, and I was already a little impatient.

It's still the same as before, the clay is made into squares of various sizes and then divided into flat upper and lower parts, but this time the clay is made of bricks to adjust the unused clay, some of which are harder, but the shaping effect is better, and the finished product is basically no different from the shape in the mold.

The first few times I made a few ironworks were rough to varying degrees, and the practicality was practical, but I was not very satisfied with it in my heart.

The main reason for the problem is the lack of skill and impatience, this time there is more time, and I also want to do it more carefully!

In order to ensure higher accuracy, instead of using dry clay to create the shape, the wood with low hardness was chopped with an axe to create a rough shape, and then slowly refined with a knife.

The process must not be rushed, it needs to be carried out calmly and slowly, like those master carvers, until it meets my requirements and then press into the mold to make a cavity.

Before turning water, the deformed parts of the mold must be repaired, and the gap between the upper and lower molds should be made into one before the preliminary task is completed.

It took about a day and a half to make several molds, among which the saw was the most difficult, taking more than half a day, and the delay did not begin to melt the molten iron until the morning of the third day.

Although the process was very difficult and troublesome, the result was delightful, and several pieces of iron were cooled and shaped to meet the design requirements, even when they were just taken out of the mold, they felt beautiful!

Of course, this kind of exquisiteness is only relative to me, if you compare it with the utensils made by modern technology, it is simply a heaven and an earth, but compared to the previous utensils, it is simply exquisite.

Simply deburring them and sanding them one by one are ready to go.

I have to say that the polishing of several tools is really troublesome, and the reverse teaching material is the saw, its shape determines the difficulty of making it with the original process, and it took more than three hours to polish it alone.

Seeing the simplicity of the new tools in one place makes me smile, and their use can greatly improve the efficiency of both construction and later life.

In addition, the expansion of the well can also be put on the agenda, and it is no longer difficult to talk about it!
