Chapter 409: The Great War Is About to Begin (27)
Xie Baoshu has also heard a lot about Buddhism.
What is the king of Jizo, hell is not empty, and he will not become a Buddha.
It is said that on a full moon night a long time ago, King Ajashi saw that the moonlight was like water, so he asked his wife, "The moon is clear tonight, like day, how should we spend this good night?"
When the lady saw that the king was happy, she replied, "On the occasion of this beautiful night, you should bathe and change your clothes, and let the maids dance and have fun." ”
King Ajatha then asked the crown prince Yoyabadha, "How should we spend the moon when the moon is full today?"
The prince replied: "Tonight is a good moon, and it is right to gather the ministers and the four soldiers and horses to discuss the rebellion on the border, and then have fun together." ”
King Ajata groaned for a while, and then asked the brahmin Yusha and the other ministers, "How should I spend this night so that I can make my mind open?" The brahmins and the ministers suggested that King Ajata visit the brahmins, nuns, and other so-called great virtues, but King Ajata was undecided.
At this time, King Ajatha turned his head and asked the boy beside him, "Tonight, the moon is white and the wind is light, should I see Shaman or Brahman, so that I can enlighten my heart?"
The boy replied, "Now that the Buddha is in the garden of Nunnery, the king should go and pray for the Dharma." If the king can see the Buddha, he will be able to enlighten his heart. ”
After hearing the boy's words, King Ajata's heart suddenly brightened, and he urgently ordered his subordinates to prepare all the treasures and elephant carts, five hundred white elephants, as well as delicacies, and a group of people to worship Shakyamuni Buddha.
It is said that everyone went all the way, turned around the city, went out of the city gate, and unconsciously came to the wilderness road, King Ajashi suddenly felt uneasy, so he asked the boy of life sharply: "Could it be that you have no tricks, deceived me, deliberately led me and the public here, and wanted to do evil?"
The boy hurriedly replied, "Oh, my king, the villain is not harmless. But the king relaxes his heart and goes all the way, and he will be blessed and auspicious. ”
Hearing the answer of the Life Boy, Ajashi still had doubts in his heart. After walking a short distance, he asked again, "You said that you had no intention of harming me, why are the 1,250 bhikkhus silent, and you dare to say that you don't have other plans?"
The Lifespan Boy repeatedly explained: "My king, you can go with confidence, I have no intention of murdering. The 1,250 great monks had always been happy and quiet, so they were silent. The king just move forward, and the garden will appear soon. ”
While King Ajata was hesitating, the men and horses had already arrived at the gate of the garden. King Ajashi stepped down from the elephant chariot, untied his sword from his waist, retreated to the canopy, and walked into the garden. After entering the garden gate, he asked with some anxiety: "But I don't know where the World Venerable is now?"
The boy replied, "My lord, there is a high hall in front of you, the lights are bright, and the world-honored one is sitting on the master's seat, facing south. As long as the king walks forward for a short while, he can meet his face. ”
The group came to the outside of the lecture hall, took off their boots and washed their feet, and then walked into the lecture hall. When he entered the hall, King Ajata looked around silently, and when he saw the majesty of the Buddha and the majesty of the bhikshus, he was overjoyed, and he muttered to himself, "These sand doors are silent and sufficient, and I wish that my crown prince Upaya could also achieve such a meditation." ”
At this time, the Buddha said aloud to King Ajata, "Since you want your crown prince to be able to do this, please come and take your seat." ”
When King Ajatha heard the sound of the Buddha and Yayin, he bowed to the Buddha with his heart, and then sat down on one side and said, "I want to ask now, but I don't know if the Buddha has any leisure, may I ask?"
The Buddha said, "It doesn't hurt to ask, Great King. ”
King Ajatha asked, "Venerable World-Honored One, if you are born in the world, drive on an elephant, learn the art of swords, whether you are rich or poor, you don't need to make a living by skill, and you can share your family with your family, this is the reward of a person, but I don't know what kind of reward you will receive in this life if you become a monk and cultivate the Tao in this life?"
The Buddha asked rhetorically, "Have you ever asked such a question to a shaman, a brahman?"
King Ajata replied, "Yes, I have asked them such a question.
Once, when I asked this question to Bhuranjaya, he said that killing and committing adultery and causing sentient beings to sorrow and weep is not to do evil and not to receive evil retribution, and if you do almsgiving, you will be happy and compassionate, and you will not be blessed if you do good deeds. It's like asking a melon to report a li, asking a li to report a melon, it's all irrelevant. I asked him if he had any retribution, and he said that he would be innocent and blessed. When I heard what he said, I thought, "Even though I am the king of a country, if I kill, bind, and drive my family out for no reason, is there no evil retribution?"
Another time, when I asked him this question, he replied that there is no past and present life, no good or evil, no good or evil, and if there is a shaman, a brahman, who says that there are three lifetimes of cause and effect, and that there is the Dharma of equality of all beings, it is all false. It's like asking a melon to report a li, asking a li to report a melon, it's all irrelevant. I asked him if he had any retribution, and he said that he would be innocent and blessed. Hearing what he said, I thought, "Even though I am the king of a country, if I kill a monk for no reason, or if I am bound and expelled, is there no evil retribution?"
Later, I went to ask Ayita Winged Shachen Bharata, Fudhajayan, Sanjora Pear, and Niganzi, and they all gave the same answer.
So, Venerable Buddha, I am asking you the same question now, if a person rides an elephant or rides a car, learns the art of war, and even makes a living, he will be rewarded in this life, so can he attain the blessings of this life in the Shaman Path?"
After listening to King Ajata's long speech, the Buddha said, "I will ask the king a few questions, and the king is free to answer them." If someone thinks, "Is this the blessing of the king's good deeds in his previous life?" If he does this the pleasure of the five desires, then what retribution will the king receive in the next life? When the king sees this man coming, will he still think that this man is your servant?"
King Ajata replied, "Of course not. If I see him coming, I will get up and greet him. ”
The Buddha said, "O king, he was originally your slave, but he was treated so well by you because he became a monk, isn't this the retribution of Shaman?"
King Ajata suddenly came to his senses and replied, "Indeed, this is indeed the retribution of Shaman." ”
Then the Buddha said, "O king, if one of your diners sees the king performing the pleasures of the five desires on the night of the full moon and thinks to himself: Is this the blessing of the great king's good deeds in his previous life? If he does this kind of pleasure of the five desires, then what retribution will the king receive in the next life? When the king sees this person coming, will he still think that this person is just a diner under your door?"
King Ajatha replied, "Of course not, World-Honored One, I will surely rise up to greet him and ask him to sit down." ”
"Then may I ask the king, isn't this the result of Shamen's retribution?"
"Indeed, this is indeed the retribution of Shaman. ”
The Buddha spoke again and said, "Great King, those who have entered the Dharma will attain the Three Understandings, destroy the underworld, give birth to great wisdom, and have all the proofs. Why is this so? It's all because of the diligent cultivation of the Tao, the concentration of thoughts, the joy of solitude and quietness, and the non-indulgence of the five desires. Isn't this the great fortune of Shaman, my lord?"
King Ajashi nodded frequently: "That's true, this is indeed the great blessing of Shamen's monasticism!"
At this time, King Ajatha stood up, bowed to the Buddha's feet again, and said to the Buddha, "May the World-Honored One repent of me, for I am an arrogant, foolish, ignorant and ignorant person." I think that my father and king have always ruled the country with righteousness, guided the people, and had no partiality, but I am confused in the five desires, and I want to do the evil thing of killing my father and mother, and I am really ashamed. May my Buddha be merciful, mourn me, and accept my sincere repentance!"
After listening to the heartfelt words of King Ajata, the Buddha said, "Ajata, although you are ignorant and obsessed with the five desires, and even annoyed your father, you can repent of your sins in front of the Buddha, and you should benefit yourself. Although you have made a great mistake, I have compassion on you and accept your repentance. ”
King Ajata tearfully bowed to the Buddha's feet and sat aside. Next, the Buddha continued to give him a lecture on the good dharma, which made him immeasurably happy.
King Ajatha then said to the Buddha, "Dear Buddha, I now ask to take refuge in the Three Jewels, and please allow me to be a lay person. From now on, I will live a long life without killing, stealing, adultery, deceit, or drinking, and pray to the Lord and all the great virtues here to accept my request."
After the Lord accepted King Ajata's request, King Ajata bowed down in front of the Buddha again, got up and circled the Buddha three times, bowed and retreated.
After King Ajatha left, the Buddha said to the crowd, "This King Ajatha has repented of his heart before the Buddha and has taken refuge in the Three Jewels with all his heart, and his sins have been diminished, and his grave sins have been removed. If he had not committed the felony of killing his father, he would have been proven to have been cleared, but it was very rare for him to be able to repent and be freed from the felony. ”
It is said that the king of Ajashi and his people are walking on the way home under the bright moonlight. On the way, King Ajashi was full of emotion and gathered in his heart. He said to the boy of life: "Good, good, good! You persuaded me to come to the Buddha on the night of the full moon to worship the Buddha and ask for the Dharma, so that I can receive this great blessing, and I am very grateful to you!"
Every time the moon is full, people often say, "Raise a glass to invite the bright moon, and the shadow becomes three people", "The willow tops on the moon, people are about after dusk", how do you know that the three people are all shadows, and the darkness is endless after dusk. When the scenery is beautiful and the night is good, this inappropriate remark may be a bad scenery. But the Buddha's heart is merciful, not willing to give up one person, you can take this good night, eat sweet pills, chant Buddha, enjoy the beautiful scenery, remember the Buddha's grace, so that life is complete, live up to the clear light and bright moon, and live up to the heart of the Buddha of heaven and earth.
Zen Master Huang Bai was a famous monk in ancient times, he had many disciples, one of them was called Linji, Linji wanted to understand what Buddhism was all about, so he asked the Zen master for advice. The Zen master did not answer his words, so he suddenly picked up a stick and hit it on the head of Linji, making Linji inexplicable. After Linji was beaten, although it was very painful, he still endured the painful question, and when Zen Master Huang Bai saw him ask again, he was beaten with a stick again; so he kept asking three questions and three beats, and Linji had to stop asking for advice and concentrate on his own study, and finally understood the mystery of Buddhism and participated in the purpose of Huang Bai Zen Master.
Later, when Rinzai and his master, Zen Master, preached the Dharma, he was always quick-witted, and at this time, he had studied the mysteries of the Dharma to the same level as Zen Master Huang Bai. At that time, people who loved to study the Dharma asked them for advice, but Zen Master Huang Bai took a stick and hit them on the head, while Rinzai shouted and cheered, and they woke up many people in this strange way. Therefore, later generations said that this kind of behavior of warning people to go wrong was "a slap in the face".
Because Zen Master Huang Bai and Rinzai studied Zen Buddhism in Buddhism, Zen Buddhism advocates epiphany, so they came up with many ways to wake up the world, and "drinking from the head" is one of them.
When Liang Shuying accompanied Master Yin Ci to speak, Wu Xiaoqing led her younger brother Baolin to look around to see the scenery. This nunnery is actually quite small, and it is a large courtyard with three entrances. The front and middle halls are places where pilgrims can go at will, and the back hall is a place for bhikshunis to retreat, and the doors are locked. In each yard, the most conspicuous thing is a big tree, and a conspicuous sign is hung on the tree, saying that this tree is a Bodhi tree, which is hundreds of years old.
Xiaoqing was in awe under the tree, and felt a little baptized. But in the blink of an eye, Xiaoqing suddenly realized that her brother was not following her closely behind.
Xiaoqing was scared and sweated. Her younger brother is 12 years old this year, and from the outside, this child is white and chubby, and he only laughs and does not speak when he sees people, which is really very cute. But he is a child who doesn't grow up, he is neither deaf nor dumb, but he is afraid when he sees a living person, he doesn't dare to say a word, and he pesters his mother to accompany him to play with mud and pinch little clay figurines all day long. When his mother went to work, she always took him to the craft white porcelain factory, asked the workers in the workshop for a lump of white clay, and let him play by her side. When he arrived at this strange Ransom Pearl Nunnery, he suddenly disappeared, and Wu Xiaoqing hurriedly shouted:
"Pauling--where are you--"
A young bhikshuni came out in response, clasped his palms together and said, "Donor, don't raise your voice in the retreat place. “
Xiaoqing hurriedly said: "I'm sorry, my brother is lost, he is a somewhat mentally retarded child." “
The little ni only smiled coldly and said, "Donor, please come with me, your brother is playing in the Luohan Hall." “
Xiao Qing hurriedly followed the little nun to the Luohan Hall, and as soon as he stepped in, he felt a murderous aura rushing towards him. The Arhat Hall is in the side hall, the light is dim, and five hundred Han are lined up in five rows, standing around the wall. When you break down the door, you will see hundreds of Arhats on the front wall, all of them looking at you strangely.
Xiaoqing couldn't help but shudder. She tried her best to find her brother, but she saw no sign of him, so she turned back to ask the little nunn. Xiao Ni smiled, pointed to the arhat on the left wall and said, "There, next to Venerable Sanssouci." “
Xiaoqing was startled, and then looked carefully in the arhat bushes, only to find that his younger brother was indeed sitting next to a bodhisattva with kind eyebrows, and the posture of sitting was exactly the same as that bodhisattva.
In an instant, Xiaoqing's heart surged with infinite emotion, and she suddenly felt that her younger brother was really like a bodhisattva! At that moment, she was frightened and scared, and she screamed a little out of shape: "Baolin, don't do that, come down quickly!"
Bao Lin slowly walked down the altar and walked to
Xiaoqing was beside her, but whispered to Xiaoqing: "Sister, I want to pinch these Arhat Bodhisattvas here, and Sister Zhihua promised to say that it was okay." “
Xiaoqing hurriedly looked at Xiao Ni and asked, "Are you Master Zhihua?"
Xiao Ni hurriedly clasped his palms and saluted, saying, "Xiao Ni is intelligent." The little donor just said that he could shape these arhats, and Xiao Ni couldn't believe it. As everyone knows, this little benefactor still has white mud with him, first pinched himself, and then pinched a Bodhisattva, I saw that he really pinched a little like, so he agreed. This is also a small benefactor with a deep Buddha fate. It's just that this matter, Zhihua doesn't count what he said, and Master Yinci has to be the master. “
Bao Lin whispered to Xiaoqing again, "Sister, go and beg that Master Yinci." “
Zhihua has all ten hands, quietly waiting for Xiaoqing and Baolin sisters and brothers.
At first, Zhihua was cleaning the shrine in the Luohan Hall, when he suddenly felt a child gently enter. She turned back to look for the child, but she saw a living Bodhisattva in the dim light of the Buddha in the Luohan Hall! Standing in front of Zhihua was a little boy about ten years old. White and pure skin, chubby face slightly oval, and the jaw is particularly wide, and the whole face shape is very much like a subordinate national character. A pair of Bodhisattva-like eyes, silkworm eyebrows lying down, two eyes clear and clear Buddha light, and a pair of earlobes are much richer and bigger than ordinary people's earlobes.
Zhihua suddenly saw the child, and immediately became restless, secretly recited Amitabha, and asked the child very reverently, "Is the little benefactor the manifestation of the boy next to the Bodhisattva?"
Baolin, who is a little mentally retarded, originally followed his sister to play step by step, but accidentally fell into the order, and then strayed into the Luohan Hall. But the strange thing is that at this time he is not flustered at all, he has even completely forgotten about his sister. At a glance, he saw the hundreds of arhats standing against the wall on all sides in the big Buddha hall, and he was immediately confused. He walked towards the magical clay statues obsessively, and saw Zhihua but didn't know her name was Zhihua, until Zhihua came to talk to him, he pointed to those arhats and asked, "Sister, can I go over and touch them?"
Zhihua hurriedly said: "Amitabha, little benefactor, Bodhisattva must not blaspheme. “
Pauline pleaded, "Let me touch it, as long as I can touch it, I can make the same bodhisattva." “
Zhihua is willing to believe it, smiling and shaking his head slightly.
Pauline said, "Sister, if you don't believe me, I can pinch myself." “
As he spoke, Pauline took out a lump of white porcelain clay from his body. Pauline always carries a lump of white porcelain clay on his body. In front of Zhihua, he pinched a villain with that piece of white porcelain clay and called Zhihua to see. When Zhihua saw it, his mouth widened in surprise - that little clay figure really looked a little like the child in front of him!
Zhihua believes that he has truly met the Buddha.
However, Xiao Baolin pointed to an Arhat and asked, "Sister, who is this?"
Zhihua woke up like a dream, looked at the Bodhisattva, and hurriedly replied, "That's Venerable Basho Arhat Vanabhas. “
Pauline pointed to another Bodhisattva and asked, "What about this one, who is carrying a cloth bag?"
Zhihua clasped his hands together and said, "He is the Venerable Budai Arhat Injieda. “
Pauline was amused and asked, "Why does he always carry a cloth bag on his back, and what does it contain?"
Zhihua said: "The Venerable Arhat Injatta was originally a snake catcher in India, and the bags were full of snakes. “
Pauline was immediately a little upset, and said, "Why do you want to catch snakes? He's not going to eat snake meat, is he's a bad guy. “
Zhihua hurriedly clasped his palms together and recited: "Amitabha, sins and sins, the Bodhisattva catches snakes for all sentient beings to avoid being bitten by snakes." He caught the snake and released it into the mountains. Correcting evil, benefiting the people, and cherishing life is my Buddha. “
Bao Lin then turned his smile and said, "Oh, that's a good bodhisattva. “
As he said this, Pauline reached out to touch the cloth bag Arhat, but he was too small to reach. At this time, Zhihua also forgot the taboo, and hurriedly went over to pick up Baolin and asked him to touch the Bodhisattva hard. Bao Lin pointed to another Arhat in mid-air and asked Zhihua: "Sister, who is this? “
Zhihua said, "This is the Happy Arhat Shan Fearless Venerable. “
Pauline asked, "How can he call him Happy Arhat? Can he open his heart to others?"
Zhihua was surprised and said, "Exactly." He was originally the crown prince of a country, and the old king was very old, so he wanted to make him king, but his younger brother had bad intentions, so he made trouble to fight for the throne. He said to his younger brother very calmly, "Brother, don't fight, don't kill, I'll let you be the king, and I'll go to the monkhood." His brother didn't believe that he would really give up the throne so easily, and still wanted to kill. He said to his brother devoutly, "I only have Buddha in my heart, don't believe it, look at it." As he spoke, he unbuttoned his shirt and opened his chest for his brother to see. Sure enough, his younger brother saw that there was only one Buddha in his heart! At last, his younger brother was also moved, and he stopped fighting. “
Bao Lin said, "Then I will pinch the heart of the Arhat Shan Fearless Venerable now." “
Bao Lin kneaded the lump of white porcelain clay that had been his own and kneaded it again, and stood in front of Happy Arhat, looking up at the face of the Venerable Virtuous and Fearless with reverence, and looked at it for more than twenty minutes. Then start kneading the white porcelain clay. He glanced at the Bodhisattva, pinched it a few times, looked at it again, pinched it a few more times, and it only took a few minutes to pinch the Bodhisattva's head, and when he looked at it carefully, it was five or six points similar to the happy Arhat in the shrine!
Zhihua was shocked, and at this time, he heard Xiaoqing shouting loudly in the courtyard in front of him.
Pauline said, "My sister has come to me." “
Xiaoqing understood her brother's wish, so she hurriedly took her brother to see her mother.
Liang Shuying was talking to Yin Ci about common things, and when she heard that her son was going to pinch Arhat, she was startled, and hurriedly pulled Baolin to her knees and said, "Good, let's go home and pinch it, okay? “
Bao Lin said stupidly, "Mom, can you ask Dad to bring me some white porcelain clay?"
Liang Shuying let out a long sigh and said, "Good, this can't be done." “
When Pauline heard this, he burst into tears, and although he did not cry loudly, he burst into tears.
Mrs. Yin Ci said to Liang Shuying: "This child really has some Buddha fate, why don't you follow him?"
"He's a big kid and I can't stay and take care of him," his mother said. “
Wu Xiaoqing hurriedly said, "Mom, I can stay with my brother for a few days." “
Liang Shuying couldn't let go.
Baolin had been crying, looking at Liang Shuying pitifully, his eyes were full of begging, and he refused to leave the Ransom Pearl Nunnery. Wu Xiaoqing hurriedly took his younger brother into his arms and said, "Mom, I have broken my brother's wishes, I am afraid that he will give birth to something else, so it is better to stay here for a few days and then slowly persuade him." “
Liang Shuying was helpless, so she took Xiaoqing and Baolin to live in the Ransom Pearl Nunnery.
Master Yin Ci took special care of him and cleaned a sunny and ventilated meditation room for Liang Shuying's mother and son to live in. Originally, I had to arrange a separate room for Xiaoqing. But when I thought of Xiaoqing, a girl under the age of 20, who lived in a deep mountain nunnery and stayed alone overnight, would she be timid? Master Yin Ci was reluctant to electrify the Ransom Nunnery, she liked the ancient Buddha with green lanterns, candlelight and incense, and did not like the bright and dazzling electric lights. However, the Ransom Pearl Nunnery is in the deep mountains, and the nearest village is four or five miles away, which is designed for the small Ransom Pearl Nunnery to set up wires and send electricity, and the cost is too great. Therefore, the Ransom Pearl Nunnery still maintains a yellow roll and a green lantern. At night, in the Buddha hall, the candlelight is shining, and in the meditation room, the green lights are faint, and the sound of wooden fish responds to the four walls, and you feel that the peace of the Buddha country envelops everyone's body and mind.
At this time, Xiaoqing wants to be alone in a room, and the fear of loneliness is certain.
Xiaoqing had no choice but to share a room with Master Zhihua.
The nuns in the Ransom Nunnery only eat two meals a day. The sky is gradually darkening, and inside the nunnery, there are buildings of night shadows. Zhihua had to do her evening homework and would have to come back for a long time, she was afraid that Xiaoqing would not be used to using an oil lamp, so she specially lit a white ash and said to Xiaoqing: "There are a few magazines on my desk, although most of them are Buddhist, in fact, it is quite interesting to read." There are also two literary books, one is an essay and the other is a poetry magazine. “
Xiaoqing said, "Thank you." “
After Zhihua left, Xiaoqing was really bored alone, so he moved the white candle and first found the poetry magazine "Waning Moon" in a bunch of magazines in Zhihua. "Waning Moon" is a poetry publication that Xiaoqing is particularly familiar with, and most of the poems published on it are about the same age as her. On the Zhihua case, there is a small poem of hers on the book "Waning Moon". There are also several leading figures in the poetry world who are well-known throughout the country and are said to be famous all over the world. In normal days, just the names of those leaders are enough for Xiaoqing to admire and worship for three days. But tonight, in the Zhihua meditation room, Xiaoqing tried to read the articles of several leaders, but it was boring, and even felt a little disdainful.
Xiaoqing stupidly threw down the book "Waning Moon".
But if you throw away "Waning Moon", the boredom is even worse. The candlelight flickered in the meditation room, and the four walls became darker and more oppressive, suppressing people's hearts into a little panic, and something had to be done. There is another bunch of magazines on the desk, which is the journal "Nanwu" run by the Buddhist Association. Xiaoqing felt that the title of the magazine was also interesting, so she picked up a copy and read it, but she didn't want to be attracted by the first article published in the magazine.
The title of that article was "Why Do You Want to Believe in Buddhism?"
Why do you want to believe in Buddhism? If it was yesterday, Xiaoqing would not have cared about such a question, but tonight is different, tonight she is sitting alone in the candlelight of the meditation room, and she thinks this question is very interesting, and she should think about it, why do you want to believe in Buddhism?
She picked up "Nan Wu" and read it by candlelight, but the article reads--
"It's raining. It's been a long time, and it's like the whole world has been drenched. The rain was not heavy, but there was snow in the middle of the rain, and there was a miserable wind. The trail up the hill is extremely slippery. Qi, an old woman with a somewhat lame foot, crawls on this wet and slippery uphill path. She took three steps and knelt down, leaned over and crawled to the ground and kowtowed, kowtowed three times, got up again, walked three steps, and knelt down and kowtowed. And so on and so forth. Every time she kowtowed, she secretly thought in her heart, the Buddha blessed my son and grandson to avoid this catastrophe, and I will definitely give up all my family property to rebuild the temple and reshape the golden body.
Qi climbed all the way up Dongfang Mountain and knelt into the main hall, his forehead was already blurred with flesh and blood, and the cotton pants at his knees were also soaked with blood. When she climbed into the main hall, she saw three people kneeling in front of the Buddha. A middle-aged woman, much younger than her, a man, pot-bellied, an old man, well-dressed.
Qi knelt to the far right of the three of them. On the right, according to the rules from left to right, it is the back.
Qi didn't know why those three people came to ask the Buddha for protection, just as those three people didn't know about her. But when they kneel in front of the Buddha, they all have to pray to the Buddha, and they have to tell the Buddha all the hidden truths. When you are in front of the Buddha, your heart must be transparent, and if you want to be blessed by the Buddha, you must tell the truth to the Buddha in your heart.
The Qi family originally had a very good family, and his son ran a very large factory for many years, so their family was rich and the envy of thousands of people. The people who come and go with their family are also generous characters. After his son became rich, he once returned to the village where he was born, rebuilt a village of more than 130 households, and built a beautiful small western-style house for each family for free. Their family's money is too much to count. It was only said that iron is rich and prosperous for generations. Unexpectedly, one day, her son and grandson were arrested, and their factory was suddenly closed. Qi really didn't know that her son and grandson were making poison in the factory! After the incident was exposed, in order to destroy the incriminating evidence, they even ordered people to set fire to the workshop, and 13 workers were burned alive in the arson accident. Some people say that her sons and grandsons are all guilty of capital crimes! No matter how much money there is, what is the use? Qi begged the Buddha for mercy, and she was willing to donate all the family's property to build temples and statues of the Buddha, and only asked the Buddha to bless her son and grandson from death.
Qi told the Buddha all the reasons, and without the slightest concealment, he kowtowed to the Buddha and pleaded.
Qi was surrounded by the pot-bellied man.
The pot-bellied man also prayed to the Buddha in his heart, and he also confessed all his sins to the Buddha very thoroughly in his heart. The pot-bellied man had already taken off his Chinese clothes 28 years ago and became a Hong Kong man. Twenty-eight years ago, Hong Kongers could have been British. However, he still felt that he had to return to China and ask for the blessing of the Buddha in China to be reliable.
Twenty-eight years ago, he went up to the mountains to chop firewood. At that time, chopping firewood in his hometown was one of the hardest and most tiring household chores. Firewood, rice, oil and salt, the life of ordinary farmers, firewood is the first. But part of the nearby mountains was forbidden by the commune, and the firewood on the other part of the mountains was not enough. On normal days, I have to get up on the fifth watch and go to the unclaimed mountains farther away to chop firewood. But the unclaimed mountain is so far away that under normal circumstances, a big man can only come back with a load of firewood a day, and he has to move in the middle of the night
Body. On that day, he also set out in the middle of the night with some dry food, drilled fifty or sixty miles of ravines, walked for more than ten hours, and arrived at an unclaimed wild mountain at dawn. When it was time for lunch, the firewood was cut and bundled, and he ate some dry food and carried a load of firewood down the mountain. After walking about half the way back, he was tired of walking, and when he heard the sound of running water in the thatched forest, which was more than a man high, he threw down the burden of firewood on his shoulders and went to the dense forest by the roadside to find water to drink. The mountain spring was very well hidden, and when I heard the sound of running water, I had to drill for a long time in the dense and impermeable high-pole thatched forest before I saw the mountain stream. The mountain stream is in a rocky ditch, the water is really clear, really sweet, and you will be relieved of fatigue when you drink it. He drank the water and turned to find his way back, but suddenly saw a girl peeing on her shiny tender ass behind a large rock a few steps away. He was flustered. At that moment, he didn't grasp his mind at all, and pounced on the girl who didn't have time to put on his pants. The girl screamed, struggled, and bit him. He pushed the girl down, but he didn't want the girl to scream and disappear! It turned out that there was a big hole hidden deep in the thatched forest behind the girl.
The girl fell into the bottomless cave, and he couldn't save her, and he was terrified.
From then on, he didn't dare to stay at home. Although no one would know about the relationship between him and the girl, there was always a shadow of a demon in his heart in the twilight, he couldn't sleep, he couldn't eat, and he had nightmares and sweats. He finally couldn't bear this torture, and secretly inquired that no kind of evil ghost would dare to get on the car or train, so he took a car to climb the train, and then took a sea boat and fled far away.
That year, he was twenty-two years old --
Twenty-eight years later, he left his homeland and fled to Hong Kong, but his heart still couldn't get rid of his debts. And when he was fifty years old, he became more and more restless day by day, and on the day of his fiftieth birthday, he suddenly saw the girl who fell into the cave twenty-eight years ago!
He felt that he could not escape, so he had to come back and ask the Buddha for forgiveness.
The pot-bellied man prayed to the Buddha, "Forgive me, I donate money to build a road in the mountains, and I engrave my name on the cornerstone of the road for thousands of people to trample on to atone for my sins--
On the other side of the pot-bellied man, there is the light and medium woman. Her things are actually quite simple. She is a single mother who has been abandoned by her ex-husband who is ruthless and unjust. Her husband, who had been an ordinary worker, had abandoned her and her son when he suddenly went to college and became a university teacher at a lesser-known university. She had to fight for her breath, keep her body and not get married, and endure all the hardships of the world before she raised her son. My son is in his third year of high school this year, and he will take the college entrance examination in July next year. She begged the Buddha to bless her son to get good grades in the exam, and it was best to be admitted to Peking University, so that the ruthless and unrighteous person would regret it!
She made a wish: If the Buddha fulfills her wish, she will sweep the tower for the Buddha for ten years!
The farthest away from the Qi family was the well-dressed old man. The old man is a celebrity, a cultural celebrity of a big city, very famous. But cultural celebrities were a bit of a flower when they were young and loved many women. At that time, he was very beautiful, so he didn't take his wife very seriously. It wasn't until later that he fell ill and suddenly suffered a stroke, and for more than two years, only his wife was by his side every day. Under the careful care of his wife, he miraculously recovered his health and was able to be his celebrity again. Unexpectedly, at this time, his wife was diagnosed with bladder cancer. At this time, he prayed to the Buddha - the Buddha of great mercy, my wife has suffered all her life, and she has not lived a good day, and I ask the Buddha to bless her and let her live a few years in a beautiful way, and I would rather exchange all my life for her. “
After telling these four stories, the author of the article asked:
"Why do you believe in Buddhism? To avoid calamity? To hide your sins, for your own vanity, or for your little useless repentance?
"In short, your worship of the Buddha is not your original wish, your original wish is not to believe in the Buddha, you have to ask for the Buddha to worship the Buddha!
"I don't usually burn incense, but when I'm in a hurry, who are you talking about? It's you, it's me, it's him--
"Don't believe in the Buddha so painfully, don't believe so badly, don't believe so narrowly, don't ask the Buddha to excuse you from sins, don't ask the Buddha to work hard for your promotion, don't ask the Buddha to satisfy your selfish desires.
"To believe in Buddhism is to believe in the open, to believe in happiness and happiness, and to believe in the purity of the heart. “
Xiaoqing finished reading the article "Why do you want to believe in Buddhism" in "Nanwu" by the dim and flickering candlelight, and suddenly felt that the heaven and the earth suddenly opened up, as bright as the light of heaven and earth shrouded in the top. She was thrilled. She was also a girl who was easily excited by nature, and now, on such a night, she was alone in the meditation room of such a nunnery, and suddenly read such an article, and her heart was like the world washed by the clear rain, and suddenly became refreshing. Even those branches and leaves, even those small grasses and vines, and even those decaying fallen leaves, were washed by the clear rain.
She thought, it turns out that people in the world believe in Buddhism with so many selfish thoughts, no matter what kind of worship and prayer, it is actually blasphemy against the Buddha. To truly believe in Buddhism is to be willing, to like, to be happy, to be lenient without desire, and to be dedicated.
Love and compassion are the Buddhas.
Xiaoqing was indulged in the text of "Nan Wu", ignorant and dementia in the flickering candlelight of the meditation room, completely unaware that Zhihua had returned to the meditation room and walked behind her.
Zhihua saw the book "Nan Wu" opened in Xiaoqing's hand, and asked: "Why don't you read that book "Waning Moon", but you want to read "Nan Wu", don't you also want to take refuge in my Buddha?"
Xiaoqing was shocked, hurriedly handed over the magazine, and said shyly: "This article is really well written. “
Zhihua saw seriously that Xiaoqing read the article "Why Do You Believe in Buddhism", so he smiled lightly and said softly: "Actually, Buddha will not ask the world like this." “
Xiaoqing was startled again, and looked at Zhihua with bright eyes. Suddenly, she saw that Zhihua in the candlelight was so beautiful! Zhihua sat opposite Xiaoqing, a few steps away. A purple nun's robe is dignified and remarkably luxurious. Zhihua's complexion is not the kind of dead ash of ordinary monks, but is full of youthful spirit. She had just come back from her evening homework, and her face flashed with happiness, and she felt as red and bright as jade. On the jade-like warm bald head, there seemed to be fine beads of sweat, and it was also shining in the candlelight.
Xiaoqing felt that in front of her, Zhihua, sitting in the candlelight, was a Guanyin Bodhisattva, or the incarnation of Guanyin Bodhisattva. Therefore, Zhihua's words sounded to her, just like Sanskrit, she was awakened from her obsession, and she asked Zhihua: "You must have read this article, don't you think it's well written?"
Zhihua spread out a piece of yellow sheet paper and a scroll of scriptures, and she was ready to copy the scriptures. But he also replied to Xiaoqing: "Naturally, the article is also right." It's just that no matter what kind of mood people in the world have to worship the Buddha, such as the old woman of the Qi family written in the article, such as the rich man who came back from Hong Kong, or the middle-aged mother, the elderly celebrity, the moment they worship my Buddha, their hearts are atoned for and good. That's enough. Or some people come to worship the Buddha for promotion and wealth, and some people even do evil things and ask the Buddha to help him escape punishment. Naturally, the Buddha can't help them. However, when they worship the Buddha, they get a little psychological comfort, or some kind of mental suggestion, which can alleviate some of their inner pain, disturbances, and mania, and at least calm them down temporarily. If such a thing happens, you say, is it good or bad?"
Xiaoqing was stunned, Xiaoqing saw Zhihua, the age was not older than herself, but the words that people said were so profound and profound, she began to worship Zhihua.
She said to Zhihua from the bottom of her heart: "You said it so well, better than what you said in that article." “
Zhihua said: "My Buddha is compassionate, Ci Sailing Pudu, all sentient beings have Buddha fate, the past does not chase, the coming does not refuse, why ask why?"
Xiaoqing was excited, and said repeatedly: "Yes, don't ask, don't ask!"
Xiaoqing calmed down and saw Zhihua carefully copying the scriptures, so he walked over. But I saw a wooden paperweight on the desk, and there was a broken glass ballast embedded in the paperweight. Zhihua held a brush in his right hand to copy, and the middle finger of his left hand pierced the broken glass of the paperweight, and then he dipped his middle finger in blood to copy the scriptures.
Xiaoqing was shocked and asked, "You, did you copy the scriptures with your own blood?"
Zhihua said: "This Heart Sutra has just begun to be copied. “
Xiaoqing was shocked and asked, "Why did you use your own blood to copy the scriptures?
Zhihua shook his head with a faint smile and said, "I'm willing." “
Xiaoqing couldn't believe it, and asked Zhihua tentatively: "You're not twenty years old this year, are you?"
Zhihua still smiled like that, but said, "You must be wondering, why did I become a monk, right?"
Xiaoqing hurriedly apologized and said, "I'm sorry, am I too rude?"
Zhihua put down the brush in his hand and said, "There's nothing rude about this. I became a nun at such a young age, and everyone wanted to ask why. Actually, there is no why. It's not that something unfortunate happened at home, and it's not that I've encountered some unbearable hardship. I've always been happy, and at home, I'm the pearl of my parents' palms. In our small county, our family is also a high-class family, and our parents are people of relatively high status. So, I grew up in the best kindergarten, the best elementary school, the best junior high school, and the best high school in our county at that time. My parents wished they would dress me up like a flower every day to show off. At that time, there were three girls in our class, and they were classmates all the way from kindergarten to elementary school to junior high school to high school. That's why our three families got closer. On July 9 of that year, we ended the college entrance examination together! At that time, I estimated my college entrance examination results by matching the answers with the teacher, and we all felt that the test was not bad. Several families were happy, so they made an appointment to go out to play and relax. On that day, when we were tired of walking around the scenery, we sat down under a big maple tree to rest and cool off, and we met a bhikshuni who had traveled to the Buddha, who was Master Yinci in this nunnery. If you say that it is a coincidence, when we met together, all of us recognized it at the same time, and the bhikshuni in front of us was actually our homeroom teacher when we were in elementary school! At that time, she had just graduated from the Buddhist academy and was in the process of rebuilding the Ransom Bead Nunnery. “
Xiaoqing couldn't help but blurt out: "This, is it true?"
Zhihua said: "Master Yinci became a monk, but there is a special story. Master Yinci's common surname is Lin, and his real name is Lin Ci'an. Ci'an was named Ci'an, but her aunt gave her the name. She was raised by her aunt when she was a child. Her mother was a hard-working country woman, married at the age of sixteen, conceived her first child at the age of seventeen, but destroyed her own life in order to give birth to this child. At that time, the countryside was far away from the hospital, there were no midwives, and a woman gave birth to a child through the ghost gate, but her mother did not pass through that pass, and she suffered from heavy bleeding after giving birth, and she died after giving birth. My aunt carried this croaking little life into her monastic nunnery overnight. My aunt is a very special person. My aunt was very young and had to be sent to be a child bride. It's really hard for us to imagine what kind of miserable life the child brides lived at that time. Naturally, the aunt refused to be a child bride, so she hid in a nearby nunnery. At that time, my aunt was only four and a half years old. Later, my aunt became a nun, and she studied Buddhist scriptures with the old nun and learned very good cultural knowledge. Until the year of cooperation, the temple and nunnery were forcibly banned, and the aunt had nowhere to go. Xiao Ci'an naturally grew up in a nunnery with her aunt, but later she was admitted to the normal school, and after graduation, she stayed in the primary school attached to the normal school as a teacher. At that time, my aunt lost her status as a nun, but Ci'an knew that even in the most difficult days, my aunt did not give up on following the Buddha for a day. Every later at night, my aunt would hide at home and do her homework, reciting Buddhist scriptures and copying scriptures, no matter how tired the production team was from farm work, my aunt never stopped doing her homework. It wasn't until the temple was reopened that my aunt became a nun again. “
Xiaoqing was stupid, and said in a dull voice: "Ci'an is not a teacher but is also a monk, is it because he listened to his aunt's call?"
Zhihua said, "No. “
Xiaoqing said: "Yes, I said it wrong, it should be the call of the Buddha." “
Zhihua shook his head: "Without Buddha's fate, you can't summon anything." “
Xiao Qing suddenly realized, and said to himself: "So, under the maple tree, I suddenly met Master Yinci, and it is also a Buddha's fate. “
Zhihua said: "That year, the admission notice for the college entrance examination also came, and it was the foreign language department of Central China Normal College, but I could still go to Nanjing Buddhist College. I chose Nanjing Buddhist College. After graduating, he has been following Master Yin Ci. “
Xiaoqing was stunned, looked at the white candle that was about to burn in a daze, and said, "Master Zhihua, I, can I not call you Master?"
Zhihua smiled and nodded.
Xiaoqing then asked, "I'll only call you Sister Zhihua from now on, okay?"
Zhihua was stunned for a moment.
Xiaoqing said, "Sister Zhihua, can I help you copy the scriptures? I also copy the blood scriptures!"
Zhihua said: "Xiaoqing, don't be in a hurry about this matter, the candle is burning tonight, we should sleep for a while." “
