(48) Costochondritis

Costochondritis usually occurs in the second costal cartilage and thoracic costal joint, and produces painful bulging and swelling locally, which is more common in women. The main cause of the disease is that wind and heat invade the lungs, the guest enters the meridians, the qi and blood are suppressed, and the pain is not passed; Over time, the internode is congested and the carina is swollen; or overwork injury, qi and blood stagnation and joint stagnation. It is more common in the left thoracic costal joint. Pain in the affected area, followed by localized bulging and swollen masses, burning skin, and worsening pain when breathing and coughing.

(1) The patient is placed in a supine position, and the operator uses the five fingers of his right hand to slightly separate, and the rib is thinned along the painful flank for 3~5 minutes, and the force should not be too heavy, see this figure (1).

(2) The surgeon pinpoints the tender point, take the threaded surface of the finger end as the focus point, and repeatedly operate on the Ah Shi acupoint by friction method for 3~5 minutes, see this figure (2).

(3) The patient is in the prone position, and the surgeon is in the Tianzong acupoint on the side of the pain, and the left hand is used to knead and push for 3~5 minutes, see this figure (3).

(4) The surgeon uses the palm of his right hand to gently rub the palm of the patient's pain area and Ah Shi acupoint for 1~3 minutes, see Figure (4) in this figure.

2. Precautions

(1) Flank pain can be caused by multi-system diseases, and the diagnosis should be clear before treatment to avoid missed diagnosis and misdiagnosis.

(2) This disease can generally improve the symptoms after 1~3 times of the above treatment until it is cured. If the symptoms do not improve after treatment, they should go to the hospital for further treatment.

(3) Cooperate with appropriate hot compresses, but the time should not be too long, and it is better to have ruddy skin. Prevent burns.

(4) Properly do chest expansion exercises and deep breathing exercises, and pay attention to keeping warm.
