Learn about the ECO function in the car

It is a fuel-efficient mode that appears in Korean and Japanese cars, when the ECO indicator light on the dashboard lights up, indicating that the car economy mode has been turned on, and it is divided into two modes, active and non-active.

Active: There are independent buttons, the owner can choose whether to turn it on, and once the vehicle is turned on, the settings will be automatically adjusted.

Non-active: Without a special button, the ECO indicator lights up, and the car will automatically evaluate the owner's driving behavior and make corresponding adjustments, such as: throttle opening, transmission shifting, air conditioning output, etc.

What does ECO mean? ECO mode will not work in the following cases:

1. The speed is more than 120km/h.

2. Parking idle speed or N/P gear.

3. When the car needs a lot of power to drive.

ECO energy-saving principle: through the trip computer, the transmission gear, engine speed, transmission oil temperature and other parts that have an impact on fuel consumption are judged, so as to reasonably control these gears and reduce unnecessary fuel.

The name ECO was coined by Ecology (environmental protection), Co

vatio

(Energy Saving) and Optimizatio

From the moment of its birth, it is the basic concept of design and development based on technology, environmental protection and economy, and these three major properties have also become the quality that ECO intelligent engine family series products have always pursued. The main principle of ECO mode is not very complicated, mainly in the process of vehicle driving, the automatic transmission gear, engine speed, vehicle speed, braking and transmission oil temperature and other conditions that have an impact on fuel consumption are comprehensively judged and analyzed, and the ECU control unit calculates the optimal fuel amount to provide the engine to do work, so that the fuel consumption is effectively reduced than the ordinary driving mode. To put it simply, it is to control the engine speed in a reasonable gear to reduce unnecessary fuel consumption. Despite its ease of operation and remarkable results, the ECO model is not effective in certain situations. When the speed exceeds 120 km/h, the ECO mode will fail on its own in order to give priority to the speed, in other words, if the economic speed is exceeded (usually between 60 and 90 km/h) a lot, then the ECO mode will not be able to save fuel. Second, the ECO mode is mainly controlled by the computer while the vehicle is moving, so the ECO function does not work when parking and idling or in N, P and manual modes. Third, when it is necessary to overcome a certain resistance and need a large torque output, such as when encountering a hill, the ECU computer judges that it gives priority to ensuring sufficient power to drive the vehicle, and the ECO mode will not work. In fact, ECO mode is more like an intelligent fuel-saving accompaniment, guiding the owner and reminding the owner to drive in a suitable way. When the optimum fuel supply is reached, the instrument panel displays the green word "ECO", which disappears if you press the accelerator pedal hard to accelerate, or if you encounter a climb. Open ECO mode, first of all, the vehicle will automatically match the best gear, speed to reduce fuel consumption, and at the same time, the owner needs to actively control the throttle and braking during driving to achieve the most ideal fuel amount.

For electric vehicles, most vehicles are equipped with ECO mode, which not only controls the power output, but also has different control schemes for the energy feedback system. First of all, in terms of power control, if you use the energy-saving mode, the acceleration performance of the vehicle will be limited, and the control of the motor is reserved when the throttle is large, which can also reduce the consumption of electric energy.

In the energy feedback system, a strong feedback mode is generally selected, and the vehicle can clearly feel the reverse drag of the motor when decelerating. Therefore, in this mode, the overall power consumption of the vehicle will be reduced, and the range of the engine will be extended.
