Chapter 373: Jin Dan Health Maintenance
Xiao Tianshu said: "But Master Zu, I still don't understand......"
Lu Dongbin said with a smile: "The Tao is natural, everything comes from the Tao, and it is inclusive of the avenue, the Tao is born for the living beings in the world, yin and yang are always changeable, the Buddha is needed, the Buddha is born, the Tao is hidden, and the Tao is hidden." It is necessary for the Tao to spread the world and transform people's hearts, so why should the Tao be polite to others...... Hehe......"
Xiao Tianshu said confusedly: "Master Zu told me to bypass ......"
Lu Dongbin smiled: "Hahaha, just like the change of yin and yang, the world is impermanent, but the avenue is always there, no matter whether it is hidden or ...... obvious."
Xiao Tianshu said: "I seem to understand, thank you Master Zu for lighting, but can Master Zu talk about Jindan......"
Lu Dongbin said with a smile: "Jindan health preservation is the way and method of Taoism to refine the medicine of life and refine it internally, so as to realize the ideal of becoming an immortal and attaining the Tao. Jindan health preservation thought, rooted in the Taoist Huang Lao's learning and the Xianjia Fangshu, is the Taoist "with the Tao of the truth" thought and the immortal "longevity and long-term vision" practice of the combination and development. In the whole process of the development of Taoism, many Taoist people have carried out unremitting exploration and practice around the topics of immortal Tao and noble life, golden pill and immortality, cultivation and health preservation, etc., forming a complete theoretical system and rich cultivation methods. ”
To learn immortals is to cultivate the Tao, practice the Tao, and take the Tao as a thing; Your life must be reborn, maintain health, and be the foundation of your life. In short, monasticism and health preservation are an inseparable whole. In other words, "Tao" and "Birth" are two aspects of the same thing, one is the root and the other is the appearance. However, in practice, there is a difference, the path of cultivation is to realize the truth of the avenue to transcend the ordinary, and the health is to explore specific techniques to prolong life and solidify the form. The Tao is used by art, and the art is used by the Tao. The two contain each other, and are a relationship of opposites and complementarity.
This also reflects the cultural characteristics of Taoism, which emphasizes both "Taoism" and "art". Mr. Guangcheng Du Guangting talked about this feature in "The Legend of Immortals": "The art and the Tao must go hand in hand. The Tao is not self-inflicted, and the non-Tao is not extended. If you have the skill but can't do it, it's like you want to fit thousands of miles but you can't do it. Although the sorcerer has a hidden vision, he has not removed the death urn, because he should inhabit the wonderful domain, pay attention to Danhua, make meritorious contributions to help him, and refine his spirit to save it. The inside and outside are one, and then they can be suitable and can last forever. "The Tao is hidden in the nameless realm of mysteries, and it is through various magic techniques that it is revealed." Although the "technique" is visible and visible, it needs to rely on the "Great Dao" as the foundation for its long-term existence.
Xiao Tianshu said: "At the beginning of the establishment of the Patriarchal Sect, the Patriarch paid great attention to the relationship between the Tao and life, and he warned people to do the Tao or lose the Tao. He also said, "Those who do the way live, and those who lose the way die." We must "believe in the truth, abandon evil knowledge, and keep the basics." He believes that the important foundation of cultivation is to be quiet, and the "Note" says: "The Tao Qi returns to the root, and the more quiet it is." It is pointed out that "knowing the treasure root is quiet, and the common method of recovering life is also". It is believed that the cultivator "enters into tranquility, is in harmony with nature, and can last for a long time"; "If it is not quiet, it will not last long." In other words, only by entering into tranquility, merging with tranquility, and taking tranquility as the persistent law to restore the vitality of life, can life be long-lasting. ”
He also said: "Therefore, "the Taoist attaches great importance to the spirit and is based on tranquility" in order to achieve the way of longevity and long-term vision. The key to health preservation lies in "self-discipline", so that "the five Tibets are all born in harmony". "Xiang'er Note" believes that "the essence of the Tao, the Tao is also different, and it is fundamental to enter the human body". Essence is the foundation of human survival, and only the essence of treasure can live forever. In the "Note", it is said: "The ancient immortals are really good to live, and the present people lose their essence and die." How to make the essence of the treasure? In the "Note", it is proposed: "The husband wants the treasure essence, the hundred elements should be cultivated, the ten thousand goodness should be treated, the five elements should be reconciled, and the joy and anger should be gone." ”
In this way, we can "accumulate goodness and success, accumulate essence into gods, and become immortals". On the one hand, they have become the ideological forerunner of the doctrine of "the unity of life and Tao", and on the other hand, they have also established the guiding principle for correctly grasping the relationship between cultivation and health preservation, that is, grasping the relationship between "Tao" and "art". The following is represented by the two periods of the Wei and Jin dynasties and the Song and Yuan dynasties.
Lu Dongbin said with a smile: "The way of immortals in the Wei and Jin dynasties is a very important historical period in the development of Taoism, and it is an important stage in which the Taoist ideological system tends to mature. Ge Hongzhen is an important representative of this stage. For "Tao" and "art", he has incisive discussions. "The Taoist, Han Qiankuokun, has no name. If there is none, the impact is still significant; As far as there is, then all things are nothing." ("Tao Yi Chapter") "The sorcerer who does it cultivates the form of the god inside, so that he can prolong his life and heal his illness; and stir up evil from without, so that evil will not be done". In Bao Puzi's view, "art" is just a practice method to prolong life and heal diseases, and to eliminate evil and evil; The Tao can encompass the universe, affect all things, and latent in all things, which can be said to be the root of the subtle changes of all things in heaven and earth. Therefore, the head of the immortal is in Changxuan, and it is necessary to do business. ”
Bao Puzi's elaboration on the way of Jindan health preservation, in general, there are about five ends: one of the words of the gods can be learned, the second is the most important of the Jindan, the third is the art of prolonging life, the fourth is the merit of the first to stand, and the five words of the return to simplicity are fundamental. These are discussed below. Bao Puzi believes that immortals are real and can be learned. He used a lot of words in "The Inner Chapter of Hug Puzi" to discuss the reality of immortals attaining the Tao, and the immortals can learn the Tao. When he replied to people's questions about "it is difficult to seek immortals", he said: "If you want to be honest, you don't have to worry about it, and you have fresh ears!" But if the will is not established, the faith is not steadfast" ("Liberation and Stagnation"). In other words, the way to seek immortals is not difficult, the key is determination and faith. He believed that man, as the spirit of all things, could achieve immortality through learning. He said; "The husband cultivates the creation, and the spirit is in the people.
Xiao Tianshu said: "Therefore, those who reach the shallow level can use all things; Those who have attained it are able to live forever" ("The Vulgar Chapter"). He also said, "Those who have attained the Tao can be in the clouds at the top, and can dive in the rivers and seas at the bottom." Those who have attained immortality "Immortals or ascend to heaven or dwell, they must live forever, and they will stay according to their own ears." Bao Puzi's argument that "immortals can be learned" is well-founded and convincing. ”
Lu Dongbin said with a smile: "Jindan is the most important, and there is a saying in the world that those who serve gold are as long as gold, and those who serve jade are as long as jade." After Ge Hong investigated the various health preservation and life extension methods that were popular at that time, he believed that Jindan medicine was the most important for "longevity and long-term vision", and it was "the extreme of immortal paths". He said: "Yu examined the book of nourishment, and the dove collected the prescription of long-term vision, and there were thousands of volumes involved, all of which were focused on returning the Dan gold liquid. However, these two things, the extreme of the road of immortals, and the absence of immortals in this way has no immortals in ancient times. ”
