Chapter 34 of the Year of Tranquility

The time with my son is as warm as a spring breeze, happiness is like a bright sky in spring, and the sunshine fills my heart. Looking at her son's quiet little face and listening to the crisp chirping of birds outside the window, Yachang has a feeling of intoxication in the spring breeze. This feeling is beautiful and wonderful, this feeling makes you smile at the four seasons, happy with the common people, everything in the world is shining with a beautiful luster, and the wind and rain are like obscurity, sadness and sorrow are far away from the sky.

The son is extremely well-behaved, and he spends most of his time in a quiet state. When he woke up, Ya smiled at him and teased him, and she didn't care if her son could understand him. She thought that her son might be able to understand, otherwise why advocate prenatal education? After he was born, did he still retain the impression of being in his mother's womb in the cerebellum? In his mother's womb, can he already understand what his mother is saying? He should be able to understand, otherwise, how could he be so lucky to be born on the day his father came? He came to earth five days before his due date. If he doesn't understand, shouldn't he be born until that day?

How did he know he had a dad when he was in his mother's womb? When he was in his mother's womb, he barely heard his father's voice. When he was so young, wasn't he also ignorant and vague? He seems to have the ability to think logically, and he seems to be wise and foolish. The daughter was born the day after her father arrived, and she was born almost to the beat of the due date. The daughter and son were born as soon as their father arrived, and they greeted their father with loud cries, expressing their deep gratitude to their mother and expressing their novelty in this new world. Ya even thinks that when the children are in the mother's womb, because of the effect of the umbilical cord, they seem to inherit the mother's thinking, and once the umbilical cord is cut, they seem to lose this wisdom......

Time flies like water, and there are still a few days before the moon is full. Usually a woman in confinement is probably like this: wearing a thin hat, lying on the bed, her husband or mother-in-law cooks several meals a day for her, and the child is brought over to feed when she is crying, and the child is taken away when she is full. Pregnant women spend most of the day resting in bed. In the minds of the older generation, confinement must be very careful, if you don't pay attention, you will fall into "confinement disease". "Confinement disease" is not obvious when you are young and fashionable, and when you are old, you will have endless problems, and it will be painful and difficult to cure.

My husband's grandmother once said to Ya that after her mother-in-law gave birth to her husband and sister-in-law, she took feces and urine during the confinement, washed diapers and coaxed the children to cook. Ya only has envy, and her mother-in-law met a good mother-in-law. Ya didn't dare to think that she would have this blessing, Ya was pregnant with a lot of food, and her mother-in-law often looked at Ya with disgusted eyes while eating, which was what her husband saw and said to her. In the eyes of father-in-law and mother-in-law, whoever works more in the field and cooks is the hero of the family, and they hate people who work less and eat more. As for the fact that so many parents built houses for their sons and married daughters-in-law, it had nothing to do with them. They never thought of building a house for their son, after all, when they got married, it was a new house and new furniture, and maybe in their minds, this earthen house could probably live for two generations.

Ya didn't want her mother-in-law to serve her confinement, compared to her mother-in-law, Ya would rather let her husband serve.

Chinese attach so much importance to maternity confinement that confinement culture can be produced.

Before seeing the way foreign women give birth, Chinese have never doubted the correctness of the phrase "confinement after childbirth". However, after seeing women in European and American countries go to work after giving birth for 2 weeks, many people advocate that confinement is actually China's "cultural dross" and should have been eliminated a long time ago. Is this statement true?

Why do Chinese women go to confinement? This is actually very simple, we and Europeans and Americans belong to different races, and the physical differences are relatively large. The Asian race, which is more influenced by Chinese culture, entered the agricultural era very early, and the three meals a day are mainly based on grains, supplemented by meat. As a result, the constitution of the Asian race has also undergone corresponding changes: the skin is delicate, the pores are small, and the bones are fine.

On the other hand, European and American races mainly eat meat, supplemented by grains and vegetables, and their physique will also undergo corresponding changes: large pores and hard joints. This physiological structure can well metabolize the moisture in the body out of the body. So they don't have the same fear of cold and dampness as Asians, and they don't think that confinement can prevent moisture from entering their bodies.

But this does not mean that there is nothing wrong with Europeans and Americans who do not have confinement, and the proportion of European and American women with joint diseases after old age is very high, but they do not associate this with non-confinement.

What are the benefits of confinement for Chinese women? Pregnancy is actually a thing that changes a woman's body a lot. From the perspective of Western medicine: during pregnancy, the mother bears all the needs of the fetus, blood circulation, endocrine, gastrointestinal and other systems will be greatly changed, and the mother has been transformed for nearly 10 months, and it is impossible to fully recover in a short time. And the time of confinement is used to restore these changes.

From the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine: the bone joints of the Chinese were originally closed, but with the opening of the pelvis, the bone joints of the mother are in a relaxed state. Coupled with heavy bleeding during childbirth, women's bone joints and qi and blood are in a very weak state. At this time, the wind and cold are easy to take advantage of the weakness and enter the mother's body. After the confinement is over, the woman's body will gradually recover, and the bone joints will gradually close. In this case, the wind and cold will be locked into the mother's body, so many women will have "confinement disease" such as joint pain.

During the confinement period, the woman's body is in a state of complete opening, and although it is susceptible to wind and cold, it can also treat the diseases before pregnancy and improve the previous physique. If you don't take care of it, your physique will weaken. It can be said that confinement is actually an opportunity for women's physique to change, and it should be grasped well.

Confinement is a necessary period of rest for a woman to give birth to a child. Due to the excessive bleeding during childbirth, coupled with backache and abdominal pain, the mother is very depleted of physical strength, qi and blood, muscles and bones are very weak, at this time it is easy to be attacked by wind and cold, and it takes a period of time to make up, so postpartum confinement must be confined to recover health.

Why do Chinese attach so much importance to confinement, while Europeans and Americans do not? It turns out that it is due to different races, different physiques, and different diets.

Confinement directly affects a woman's health in the second half of her life, and if she is properly maintained during confinement, she can even improve her physique, otherwise, it is easy to lay the root of the disease in the future.

Imagine that other mothers have been lying down and recuperating in addition to feeding their children during the month, such a blessing is unimaginable. Shi Ya gave birth to her daughter in confinement at her mother's house, and her husband served her for a month and then went back. At that time, Ya often walked back and forth with her daughter in her arms, hoping that her daughter could sleep quietly and stop crying. After her husband left, Ya fell into a hectic situation because her daughter loved to cry too much. As soon as her daughter cried, Ya hugged her back and forth. The daughter seemed to enjoy the feeling of being carried back and forth, so much so that she cried loudly as soon as she put her down. It's like this day and night, until Ya tosses into back pain and leg pain, and it is difficult to walk.

There is some distance between my mother's house and my mother-in-law's house, it takes six or seven hours to travel, and it is impossible to go back and forth on the same day. After Ya got married, the days of going to her in-law's house were limited, and once she returned to her parents' house, she didn't want to go this distance again, unless her husband repeatedly urged her back. Ya takes her daughter back to her parents' house for a long time, and she eats and lives as casually as she did before she got married, and her parents often buy snacks and toys for their daughters.

At her mother-in-law's house, even if she ate in the same pot, Ya also ate for a few days and then quickly separated, she knew that if it took a long time, her father-in-law and mother-in-law would lose their faces. They are different from Ya's parents, Ya's parents are relieved and happy to see their children eating sweetly and sleeping comfortably at home, while their parents-in-law feel uncomfortable as if they have raised others for nothing.

The diapers that her husband bought for her son ran out, and she had to buy some food, and Ya felt that she should go out. She doesn't have so many taboos, but many families do taboo their daughters to be confined in their parents' house. So Ya gave her younger brother 100 yuan before her son was born, which means that she rented her brother's house, so that she could be considered a tenant. There are also women who are in confinement or have miscarriages, and they cannot appear at their parents' homes, nor can they go to relatives' houses or other people's homes.

She didn't know about these taboos before. At that time, one of her classmates who had a good relationship came to play with her, but she didn't talk for long and said that she wanted to go back, and Ya was struggling to stay. In the end, the classmate had to tell the truth: she had a miscarriage, and it was not good to have a miscarriage to someone else's house. Ya said disappreciably: "It's nothing, it's all superstition."

"Women need to start confinement after giving birth, only a good confinement can make their body slowly recover to a healthy state, in order to have better physical strength to take care of their baby, many women during the confinement, all the attention is focused on the child, but they do not care very much about their own physical health, this is very incorrect, usually, confinement is in their own home, no one will go to other people's homes to confinement, let's take a look at what are the taboos in other people's homes.

will take away the aura of the confinement family, if it is a son, it will make the family have one less son. As a small confinement, you can't go to other people's homes for a month, you can only stay in your own home, or you can go out and go wherever you want, but you can't go back to your parents' house, saying that other people's homes will be unlucky. A woman's menstrual period is considered unclean for a few days, and she is not allowed to go to the temple or offer incense to her ancestors at home. Seeing these words on Du Niang, Ya thought: Her family has few sons, is it because a woman came to her house during confinement or miscarriage? That's too mysterious, isn't it?
