Chapter 20
Steven kept throwing footsteps at the forks in the road around him, but the monsters chasing him were undisturbed.
The sound of tentacles scraping against the walls was always flickering and coming, keeping Steven's nerves tense. He couldn't remember how long he had stumbled. The pain coming from the cut leg is becoming more and more apparent. His shirt was soaked with sweat and the rain that had been dripping from before, making him extremely uncomfortable. The white ball of light that had been following him was still ringing, which added another reason to his upset.
The monster with the tentacles clashed head-on with Steven several times. As if deliberately avoiding it, the other party never caused obvious damage to Steven, but provided him with a chance to escape after leaving a few scratches.
Just as an exhausted Steven was about to stop, an orange point of light floated in front of him. He looked in the direction the points of light had left, and saw that many of the same points of light were moving through the labyrinth, all drifting to the same place in a regular manner.
"It's long overdue." Steven muttered, dragged his injured leg and limped down the orange dots.
At the point where the points of light meet, a wall becomes translucent.
Lannie's figure appears on the other side of the wall. She raised her right hand in reverse, allowing the bracelet's screen to rush inside the maze. Her left hand was pressed against the wall, and an orange glow spread along it.
Steven stopped in front of the translucent wall. He glanced at Lannie's bracelet and pressed his own hand against the wall as well. "Okay, Alpha Thirty." He muttered, "Thirty is thirty, it's not difficult at all." Think of something happy, Steven, something happy. ”
A blue glow poured into the walls, but it immediately collided with the orange glow. Steven and Lannie are bounced away at the same time. As a result, the walls were restored to their original appearance.
There was a chirp somewhere in the labyrinth.
Steven stood up and walked back to the wall with a curse.
The wall blurred again. The orange glow scribbles the words "Don't mess up again" on the wall.
Steven glanced at Lannie behind the wall and rolled his eyes. "Well, your stinky face does help." He sneered, and pressed his hand back against the wall.
This time, the two colors of light fused together, blurring the walls.
Just as the wall was about to become invisible, Lannie suddenly pointed behind Steven and opened her mouth to shout something.
Annoying grinding sounds came from behind Steven. The humanoid monster rushed into Steven's pathway, brandished the tentacles that strapped around his waist, and lunged at him.
Steven hurriedly ran to the side. The injured leg nearly knocked him to the ground.
Lannie also ran along. Their hands ran across the wall, dragging a dark brown line across the wall.
The humanoid monster crawled on all fours, narrowing the distance between it and Steven.
Steven flicked his arm diagonally forward. A cloud of blue light flew out and hit the wall where he and Lannie were about to pass.
Lannie waved her hand in understanding, causing a cloud of orange light to hit the same spot.
The long dark brown wire that the two dragged touched the wall, finally creating a hole in the wall.
Steven flew through the hole, and the white ball of light that followed him slammed into the wall that was rapidly closing. In the next second, the monster with tentacles rushed forward. Its body shattered into white balls of light, and was blocked inside the labyrinth by the walls that had become clear.
Steven got up from the ground and reached out to wipe the rain from his face. "Where have you been for half a day? I've been separated from life and death several times. He looked around, "Where's that Asian imp?" Is it really hanging? ”
"You've had enough! Cecil! ”
Ziang's shouts came from the front of the lonely house.
"Doesn't seem to be." Steven nodded slightly awkwardly.
At that moment, the entire labyrinth became a blur. One by one, the walls vanished, causing tentacled monsters to appear next to Steven and Lannie.
The monster opened its mouth full of sharp teeth. A shrill chirp emanated from its throat and spread over the wasteland.
"It's fine," Steven said in a very small voice, "and it can only be located by sound." ”
The monster bowed its head. The charred flesh of its face parted from top to bottom, revealing two large eyes.
"What the!" Steven pointed at the monster and shouted, "As soon as I finished speaking, you got the right eyes to come out, didn't you obviously embarrass me?!" ”
The monster lunged forward, stabbing its tentacles at Steven and Lannie.
A cloud of orange light exploded next to Steven, catapulting him out of the way, causing him to brush past the thorny tentacles and plant into the weeds beside him. Lanny herself waved a hand. An orange ribbon of light stretched out along the hand and wrapped around the attacking tentacles. She tugged back hard, and the band of light shortened, dragging the monster with a step.
The monster immediately stood still, and jerked back into its tentacles.
Lannie, holding the ribbon of light, was dragged straight off the ground and flew towards the monster.
The monster stepped forward, raised a hand, grabbed Lannie tightly, and extended it into its open mouth.
On the ground, Steven, holding a blade of light, rushed towards the monster. Using his uninjured leg as a fulcrum, he made a magnificent turnaround slash, slashing the blade of light in his hand into the monster's knee. However, this difficult maneuver clearly made him lose his sense of direction. Instead of hitting the intended target, the blade sliced through the outside of the monster's calf and scattered the light that made up the small area.
The monster screamed, let go of Lanny's hand, and half-crouched down.
"That's right! That's where I'm aiming! Steven hurriedly said, "Now, we don't owe anything." He lifted his injured leg and coughed again when he realized it wasn't the same one.
The orange ribbon flew from Lanny's hand towards the monster, connecting the two tentacles together and pulling them behind the monster.
The tentacles tugged at the monster, causing its upper body to lean back.
Steven turned around again and made a downward slash. The blue blade of light magnified several times in the air, slashing at the monster from above.
The monster caught the blade with both hands, then leaned forward, trying to stand up.
Steven and Lannie jumped at either side of the monster at the same time, and waved their hands at each of the monster's arms.
Two blades of light spawned, slashing diagonally upwards at the monster's two arms, but hovering together on the surface of the arms.
Steven and Lannie waved again, slashing in the opposite direction. Both blades turned dark brown at the same time, severing the monster's arms.
The massive blade of blue light fell forward, but stopped at the monster's face again.
The monster screamed. Its tentacles broke free from the ribbon and stabbed Steven and Lannie.
Steven lunged forward, dodging the tentacles, and reaching out at Lannie's feet before hitting the ground.
A cloud of blue light catapulted Lannie into the air.
Lannie raised her hands and waved them down at the monster's face.
The massive blade of light turned dark brown and fell violently, piercing the monster's body from the middle. The light that made up the monster suddenly spread out and disappeared into the rain.
Steven stood up and looked at Lanny. "Well, it's all my credit again." He said with great certainty.
"You know, you've got mud on your face?" Lannie replied faintly.
Kelly appears in the open back door of the lonely house. She hesitantly lifted one leg and dropped it to the ground outside the door.
"Let's see, who's finally connected!" Steven let out a shout and limped over to Kelly, "I haven't forgotten that you hit me." But you don't need to apologize, just come and help me. ”
A thick mist diffused from the kitchen, enveloping Kelly in it.
"No, no......" Kelly flapped in horror at the fog that surrounded her, then glanced up at Steven and Lannie.
The mist bound Kelly's limbs and dragged her into the lonely house.
More fog spread out the back door, drifting towards Steven and Lanny. The two of them stopped, each opening a barrier in front of them. However, as soon as the two barriers touched the fog, they flickered violently and vanished.
"This," Steven looked at Lanny, "what the hell?" As soon as he finished speaking, a thick fog wrapped around his wrist.
