Chapter 40: The March of Death (5)
The army of the undead who exited the Valley of the Falls didn't go far. The necromancers muttered as they walked, and from time to time looked at little Jasmine walking at the end of the line with strange eyes, and finally stopped.
"What are you looking at?" said Jasmine warily.
"Miss Jasmine, you just made a bad decision!"
"I wasn't qualified to make a decision, you forced me to do it!" Jasmine glared, "Didn't you think that at the time? I just said what everyone wanted to say and did what everyone wanted to do!"
"We all thought that Roland had troops outside the valley, who knew he was such a man!"
"Yes, no wonder he readily agreed to let us withdraw from the valley!
"You're all men, and you're still heroes who got the tinder!" Jasmine chirped: "Do you still want to lick back the spit that just came out? If you are a man or a hero, you have to talk and talk, and you must not regret it afterwards! Can't you even be a little girl like me?"
"We have half a legion of soldiers, but we were disgraced by a detachment of Roland, and finally lost our garrison, if others knew about it, where would we put our faces? Besides, the commander will never spare us!"
"Yes, we have to fight back!"
"Miss Jasmine, you must be responsible for your bad decision! None of us knew that you had ever been Princess Catherine's lady-in-waiting...... We suspect you're the one sent by Roland!"
"Nonsense!" Jasmine exclaimed, "I came to the Valley of the Falls with the Vampire King Drokul, not with him!"
"Don't quibble, the facts are in front of you, it's useless for you to quibble!"
"Prince Roland is right, you want me to make a decision, just to let me carry the black pot for you!" Jasmine stepped back step by step, and suddenly pulled her legs and ran.
"Catch her!" the necromancers immediately began to chase.
But who can outrun little Jasmine, who grew up in the jungle? She deftly turned left and right, swayed the chasing necromancers, and finally managed to burrow into the jungle.
The necromancers were all out of breath from exhaustion.
"This damn girl, she runs really fast!"
"I said you guys are stupid! What nonsense are you talking to her, just walk up to her quietly and grab it!"
"I don't think you can catch her! she's very clever!" a necromancer gasped.
"We lost her, what should we do now?"
"If you lose it, you lose it! We can put all the blame on her, and no one will confront us face to face!"
"Now let's go after Roland! better catch him, that will do a great job!"
When they thought of the brave and invincible Roland, the necromancers muttered in their hearts. His men are like lions!
The army of the undead began to turn back, but they didn't walk very fast. Everyone wants others to be at the forefront, and everyone is grinding and understanding each other.
Prince Roland did not follow the people in retreat. He rode his horse to a small hillside with the road leading to the Silver Horn.
The fighters are busy. Some of them cut down branches and made deer and placed them at the front of the line to defend against the onslaught of the terror knights, while others carried and pushed large stones to block the road.
"It's a great place to fight an ambush, and it's a good place to play to our team's strengths!" Roland nodded.
"Yes, the most important thing is that no stones will fall on this place!"
Hearing this, the busy officers and soldiers were happy.
"After more than a month of guerrilla warfare in the hinterland of Dia, almost everyone has become guerrilla experts!" exclaimed one hero: "Now everyone knows what to do and how to do it!"
"Put the severed branches and leaves at the front of the battle line, and find some dead grass to start a fire!" said Roland, "If the enemy charges, the burning wall of fire will be our first line of defense!"
"You're right, the undead are not afraid of anything, the thing they fear most is fire!" one of the heroes nodded, and immediately led the group to busy.
Jedt arrived with a large crowd.
"Jedter, why are you here?" Roland greeted him at once.
"These people I brought with me are veterans! they fought for your father, and they are willing to fight for their prince!"
Roland glanced at the old men one by one. Their beards were gray, skinny, and their arms were covered with green tendons, but their swords were tightly clenched, and their eyes burned with fire.
"Let's fight for you, Prince Roland! Only then can we cover our loved ones!"
"If we are going to die, then let us die on the battlefield, it is better than dying like wild dogs in a dirty fence!"
"Join in, soldiers!" Prince Roland nodded vigorously.
"Their experience can make up for their lack of strength!" Jedert explained.
"Yes, but Jedt, you brought all the people who could fight, who was going to protect the retreating people? There were always scattered zombies on the way, or even a whole bunch of them!"
"Don't worry, Your Highness the Prince!" said Jedert, "I have mobilized more than 8,000 men who can afford to carry swords, and there are only a thousand here...... Now they're on guard on the periphery of the team!"
"We must hold on here for at least two days, and try to get them to go further!" Prince Roland nodded: "We now have two thousand men, and we also have the advantage of geographical location, so as to block the army of five thousand undead, I don't think they can take advantage!"
"Under your command, I don't think it's a problem to hold on for ten days and a half months!" said Jade Tedt looking adoringly at his leader.
"We're only going to hold out for two days!" Rowland explained, "and they're going to find a way to get behind our flanks and attack the retreating people!"
Jade looked at the map and nodded silently.
"The retreat is full of danger, Jedt!" Roland sighed, "except for the outflanking army of the undead, here, here and here are also dangerous!"
"These places, I know, are abandoned mines!"
"Yes! We've introduced thousands of zombies into these abandoned mines, and then closed the exits! If we let them out, it would be a very deadly threat! So, after we have repelled the enemy's first and second counterattacks here, we must get out of the battle as soon as possible, and immediately rush to join them and protect our people with all our might!"
Jade frowned. The unknown future is full of dangers, will this be a death march?
"Jedter, I order you to do something for me tomorrow!" Roland said as he looked at him with blazing eyes.
"Say it, Your Highness, the First Brigade of the Valley of the Falls Legion is at your disposal!" Jedette immediately puffed out his chest.
Roland pressed his lips to Jadet's ear and whispered a few words.
"But......," Jedt said, her mouth wide open.
"Yes, you may think I'm a little cruel, but there's no way around it!" Roland looked at Jade pleadingly, "Can you help me?"
“...... Well, if the souls under them had knowledge, they might have approved of it!" Jade nodded helplessly.
After the storm, the sea was as smooth as a mirror the next day. Seagulls fluttered around the fleet, and a large group of whales rolled in front of them, spraying water columns into the sky, shimmering in the morning sun.
As the sun grew taller, the clouds in the sky increased. By midday, the sun was completely gone.
The seagulls and whales have also disappeared at some point. The sky is getting darker and darker, and the sea breeze blowing over makes people feel very cold.
Is the storm coming again?
From early morning until now, Sylvia has been waiting at the bow of the ship, patrolling the sea with a long telescope in hand.
"Look below!" suddenly shouted one of the sailors.
The sailors followed his fingers and saw many looming corpses in the water on both sides of the ship!
Their faces were pale, rising and falling with the sparkling waves, as if they were still blinking.
"Don't look at them! they're the undead in the water, and one more look will suck your soul out!" the first mate warned loudly, "We've entered the Dark Gate!"
The further you go, the more turbulent the water becomes, the more undead underwater, and the whirlpools get bigger and bigger.
"Jack, damn Jack!" Sylvia was still surveying the sea with her binoculars, muttering to herself, "I can feel you, you're here! Come out, fight me again! I know you've not been idle during this time, and you must have gathered a lot of allies! Okay, then let's fight it out, whoever loses will go to hell!"
"They're there!" shouted the first mate, holding up the binoculars.
"Yes, I saw them too!" Sylvia was still holding up the binoculars, "about fifty boats!" wait, let me see what flag they were flying......
Hey, aren't all pirate flags black skull flags? Why are there different flags?
You should know that there are dozens of pirate fleets of all sizes running around the seas, each with a different flag!
"It's a megalodon! That's Jack's fleet!" Sylvia finally put down her binoculars, her body trembling slightly with excitement: "Blow the horn at once! Get ready for battle, invincible Elasia sailors!"
Immediately, countless whining conch horns resounded in the sky!
The sound of the horn has awakened the underwater undead! Now, will these underwater undead set off a black monstrous wave???
