The Three Gorges of the Yangtze River (the Great Three Gorges) is world-famous and well-known. Daning River, ancient name Changjiang, also known as Wuxi water, originates in Wuxi County at the southern foot of Daba Mountain, named Xixi River, called Daning River after the big river, and flows into the Yangtze River at the west mouth of Wuxia, with a total length of 142 kilometers.

The Daning River flows through the karst landform development area, the geological structure is complex, the cliffs on both sides are skyscraping, the cliffs are thousands, the riverbed is steep, the reefs in the river are numerous, and the beach is densely packed.

The Longmen Gorge, the Iron Coffin Gorge and the Dicui Gorge in the Daning River, collectively referred to as the "Little Three Gorges", are the essence of the Daning River Scenic Area.

In ancient times, the Little Three Gorges was one of the military arteries of Hubei into Sichuan (Chongqing), and the famous female general Qin Liangyu (now a native of Zhongxian County, Chongqing, a national hero, a military strategist, a famous general of the anti-Qing Dynasty, the only female hero in history who was recorded in the official history and the only female general who was crowned a marquis by virtue of his military exploits) fought with Zhang Xianzhong and Luo Rucai in the area of the Daning River.

The Little Three Gorges is one of the earliest, most frequent and most important areas of the ancient Ba people's activities, and it is also the location of the Baoyuan Mountain Salt Spring, one of the three major salt springs in Pakistan.
