Chapter 36: I Don't Want to Make Headlines
Just as Harry was still confused, he felt someone around him tug at his sleeve.
"Let's go," Ron whispered, as he walked past Harry in front of him, blocking most of the group's view, "Hurry up! β
"What's wrong with them? What did I do? β
"Hurry up, Harry, and we'll talk about it later." Hermione also stepped onto the stage and grabbed Harry's sleeve.
The two of them dragged Harry out of the auditorium.
The little wizard silently gave way to them, but the crowd immediately closed behind them. The crowd timidly gave Harry a circle of space, like the eye of a calm typhoon in a manic typhoon.
As they left the auditorium, the chatter behind them exploded instantly.
Calvin and Snape thought of that word at the same time.
The old snake is old......
Calvin quickly remembered the question Hermione had asked him, and it seemed that it was Harry who heard it.
γ
Snakes in school? Where is it? Why was Harry heard in Lockhart's office? Is it related to Lockhart?
Before Calvin could get his thoughts to work, he was interrupted by Snape.
"Do you know that kid is a snake?" Snape asked, walking over to Calvin.
Calvin glanced back at Snape, who looked solemn, and shook his head, "I only found out today, too. I didn't expect Harry to have an ancestor who could be a snake. β
"The ancestor of the old snake?" Snape first sneered, not knowing who he was targeting, and then quickly returned to a serious expression, "I don't think it has anything to do with ancestors. β
"You seem to care a lot about Harry's old words," Calvin thought it was a little amused, "It's just a linguistic talent, just like some innate disguised Magus, Animagus, an innate magical talent." β
Snape stared at Calvin with the look of a fool.
"Do you know why Slytherin used a snake as a symbol?"
Calvin shook his head slightly.
"Salazar Slytherin is the most famous serpent in history. You don't even know that, and I think it was a mistake for the Sorting Hat to put you in Slytherin. β
"My impression of Slytherin is limited to his madness and adoration of bloodlines." Calvin said, "And I didn't get a good grade in the history of magic. β
Snape continued, "As for the other snake elder I know, it's the Dark Lord. β
Voldemort? Calvin was a little surprised by this clue, but he soon had something new to think of.
On the other side, Ron took Harry to a no-and-donned corner.
"Okay, you two, what's going on?" Harry was still confused.
Ron glanced at him, "Harry, you're talking to the snake on the long platform. β
"yes, I'm talking to the snakeβ" Harry choked suddenly, and he suddenly understood, his heart beating violently.
"You mean, old snake?"
Ron and Hermione nodded, "I heard a weird hissing sound coming from your mouth. I bet everyone in the auditorium heard it, and everyone in the castle would know about it tomorrow night. β
Harry felt like he was drowning, and he desperately tried to grab on to a straw.
"But I feel like I'm talking about people......" Harry raised his voice to find a good reason for himself, "and, besides, I'm here to save Justin's life!" I kept the serpent from attacking him! β
Ron and Hermione looked solemn as if they were attending a funeral.
"I'm afraid no one thinks so." Even in the face of the most difficult exam, Ron never showed such an expression.
"How is it possible, you are all there, you should hear ......"
"Dude, the way you looked at the time, that expression, it was like you were giving orders to that snake and instigating him to attack something."
"Harry, we don't understand what you're saying." Hermione's expression was a little sad, and she began to quickly recall what she had seen about the serpent's old cavity.
"I think it's probably because the snake sounds so evil, and we can only hear a hoarse hiss from your mouth, and it has an echo, which is creepy."
"Do you remember? Salazar Slytherin is a serpent. Because he has no scruples about using the snake tongue to manipulate the snakes and make them work for him, he will make others think that he is a dark wizard. β
"No!" Harry clutched his head in pain.
That night, Harry stayed awake all night. He lay on the bed, staring meaninglessly at the curtain above his head, and his whole heart went cold.
He didn't even dare to talk to Sirius, his mind just remembered what the Sorting Hat had said to him:
"You can be great, and Slytherin can help you to glory, there's no doubt about it."
"No, I belong to Gryffindor!"
Harry said to himself, then turned away, forcing himself to close his eyes.
The next morning, Harry arrived at the Great Hall with dark circles under his eyes.
Almost everyone dared not approach him, leaving him a clear space, and looking at him with strange eyes.
Harry heard a first-year student there whisper, "Dark circles, I know a lot of dark wizards have a pair of dark circles, is he ......"
Harry was eager to walk up to him and explain where the dark circles came from. But he took a step there, and the first-grader followed suit.
Harry sighed silently, gave up the idea, and returned to the Gryffindor table to prepare breakfast.
A few moments later, Ron and Hermione came over. They sat next to Harry, the only ones who dared to approach Harry.
"It's worse than expected," Ron said after taking a big sip of pumpkin juice, "and I bet the whole castle knows, even some of the parents." β
"How is that possible! It's only been one night. Harry was surprised that his forks had dropped.
"It's all Eddie Camille of Ravenclaw," Hermione's face was visibly angry, "he was trying to record the duel between Professor Capet and Professor Snape with a crystal ball yesterday, and he ended up recording you talking about the snake's old look. β
"Now he's taken that little piece out and made it into an image crystal, and sold it in the castle!"
Harry felt dizzy as he listened.
"Don't worry Harry, we've already told Professor McGonagall." Ron hastened, "But some of them may have been sent out by the owls." β
Harry thought of the worst-case scenario, "I wouldn't send it to the Daily Prophet, I don't want it to make headlines today......"
"No, it won't." Hermione said firmly, "Today's newspaper should have been printed." β
Ron was a little worried, "Tomorrow won't either." β
"So we only have one day to undo the repercussions."
Hermione picked up the bread and scrambled up from her chair, "Gentlemen, we need to hurry." The swarm of fly-like reporters will soon smell it. β
