Volume 1 The End of the Outlaw 19

We walked for another whole day on the most winding stretch of the mountain road of the Ogaz Fortress.

Standing on top of the high mountains, looking into the North Pole, you can vaguely see the endless plains and swamps in the north from the mountains. I love the feeling of looking out from afar. But is that the end of me? There are not only expectations in my heart, but also more worries.

If only I could fly.

"Old man. How long have we been gone? I pointed to the north and said, "I should be out of the dwarven territory soon." You look at the north. ”

The old man doesn't have a stubble.

"If you go further on, you're wetland, is it a no-man's land? Minahill Harbour is here. Have you ever been to Minahill Port? "The old man still ignored me.

Walking out of another tunnel, the old man suddenly said, "Do you see the bones over there?" ”

"What's wrong?"

"Do you know why they're here?"

"Why?"

"Because they've asked too much why." The old man turned his head to look at me.

"Are you threatening me?"

"No, I'm just telling you, it was pushed down from the top of the mountain many years ago."

"Looks like I have to thank you. This time, I won't be able to enjoy the treatment of descending directly from the top of the mountain. ”

"Hmph, I've walked this road dozens of times, and you're the only guy I've personally sent here."

"Ah, it's not my own hands, then I'm so lucky."

"We're going out of the valley at once, and we're going to tell you one last time, and I'll have someone to pick you up in a moment, and I want you to keep your mouth shut forever, your mouth will hurt you." There seemed to be a cold light in his eyes.

"Thank you for the reminder, did my brother tell me that?"

"You see, there's a cliff here."

Walking through the last long downhill tunnel, we finally walked out of the fortress. The northern gate of the Ogaz fortress is more spectacular than the southern gate. Two dwarf statues tens of meters high stand on either side of the fortress gates. It's like a god descending from heaven!

I can't imagine how impregnable this military fortress could be, and I guess only an army with the power of the gods can break it.

But no army in the world has this kind of power.

I can't even imagine how many people, how many years, and how much it would cost to build such a spectacle. Perhaps this can only be due to the dwarves' mining talents and unique constitutions.

Not far from the fortress of Ogaz, I came to the presence of three men on horseback.

"Remember what I say." The old man said softly.

From afar, I sat in the carriage and stared at the three men, and the wounds on my waist and stomach began to ache again.

The three guys stood still. Let's wait until we get closer.

The old man dismounted and walked over, only to see him raise his right fist. The man on the horse glanced at his fist. The old man opened his right hand again and flipped it up. The leader took out a coin from his bosom and put it in the palm of the old man's hand. The old man took it into his arms, and then took out a small bag from his arms. Hand it to the man.

The man shook the bag and put it in his arms, then stared at me.

The old man turned and walked back and nodded to me.

"Come down." The old man's tone suddenly became soft. "It's your baggage." As he lifted the blanket from the car and peeled off the thick hay, he raised his eyelids and looked at me, his eyes losing their seriousness. He reached out and pulled out a small package from his bosom and secretly slipped it into my hand.

"From now on, you are no longer you. Forget your past and live well. Don't think about going back again, never! He spat out these words softly, and the voice was so soft that I almost thought it was a hallucination. I stared at the old man suspiciously.

"It's Edwin...... Is it? ”

The old man lowered his head and put his hood back on, still silent.

"Thank you! Geezer! At least...... Can you tell me your name. ”

The old man climbed into the carriage without looking back. With a soft snort, it slowly disappeared into the thicker and thicker mist.

His departure made me suddenly feel a little lost. He was eccentric, but his departure made me lose the only bit of intimacy in my heart.

The man in the lead snorted through his nose: "Let's go." "That's when I came to my senses.

The leading man was dressed in gray, with no signs on his earthy brown cloak, thick eyebrows, a neat hairstyle, and a cleanly shaved beard. He tilted his head and said to the man behind him, "Give him the horse".

I got on a gray horse with white dots and followed them. They didn't talk a word the whole time, and although it was extremely awkward, I always remembered what the old man had said. I can't believe them.

Night soon descended on the vast swamp. They dismounted to make a fire and, after slaughtering a crocodile in the swamp, began to roast the crocodile meat.

The leader handed me a leg, and I thanked him. The first time I ate crocodile meat, I thought it was quite fresh. However, I feel that the grill is a little old, and the meat is a little tight.

"How many days are left?" I tried to communicate with them.

The three of them turned to look at me, and the man in the lead said, "Five days." ”

"Are there crocodiles in this place?"

"Not only crocodiles, but also fish that can run and jump." Seeing that I looked at him suspiciously, he said, "You southerners haven't seen it?" The man in the lead said.

I looked at him and shook my head.

"Then you pray you don't see them here."

I know what he said. The sounds of the fish's mouths squealing echoed in my head again. I do pray that I don't see them.

"What did you do?" The lead guy asked me.

"Huh?" I pretended not to hear.

"Tell me your story, friend. I love listening to stories. ”

"I ...... Just an ordinary person. ”

"That old thing never gives it to ordinary people." He snorted contemptuously and said to the person next to him, "Hmph, he thinks he is an innocent person......

"God has judgment."

"It seems that you have given your god enough sacrifices. But I don't know if you have sacrificed to the gods of the north. The man in the lead squinted at me.

He's going to blackmail me......

"I don't need to offer sacrifices to the gods of the north, and the gods of the north will bless my peace." I looked at him.

"The journey to get you there is a dangerous and arduous one."

My mind was thinking at the moment, but my not very high IQ almost short-circuited at this point. I paused and said, "Of course, someone will thank you when you arrive." There will be additional sacrifices. "Actually, I don't know anything, including where I'm going in five days.

"You're the first one who can personally send that old thing down." He looked at me and said without hurrying.

"We are from the same village." I'm making up nonsense.

"Well, you have to thank you for being fellow villagers." I don't know if his words were intimidating.

"How did you get hurt?" He seemed to have seen that I was hurt.

"I was stabbed twice."

"Oh, it looks like it hurts my stomach."

"And the back." I say.

"You're so lucky."

"I'm not lucky compared to being betrayed."

"Oh? Greened? The firelight danced in his face, and he said with a smile as he stared at me. His face was hateful.

I opened my mouth, frowned, and lowered my head without speaking.

"Being green is not a betrayal." He asked, raising an eyebrow. "And you killed him?"

"Nope"

"Hmph, you're not very lucky." With that, he turned away and ignored me.

At night, the insects and frogs in the swamp chirped in unison, and the moon overhead was large and round. I have the impression that this is the barren land in the south of the kingdom of Araso, the northernmost part of the dwarven territory. I silently reminisced about the conversation of the evening.

The swamp is damp and buggy. I didn't dare sleep, at least tonight.

I can't sleep, I have to stay awake all the time, I told myself over and over again.

I woke up suddenly, and sat up with a bang. The wound was torn and painful, damn it! I fell asleep!

And when I opened my eyes and looked around, the scene in front of me directly shocked me.

The embers of the campfire are still there, and the people and horses are long gone, including the one I rode yesterday. My backpack was thrown on the ground and the contents of my bag were thrown to the ground.

I looked around in horror, what about people? The centaurs have disappeared without a trace! I thought it was another hallucination, and I slapped myself twice!

Looking around at the emptiness, I was abandoned......

Pick up the clothes that have been thrown on the floor. I couldn't laugh and I couldn't cry. I don't know whether to rejoice or lament.

Looking at the sun overhead, it should be almost noon. The crocodile by the fire was fragmented. I picked up what looked like it was still edible and put it in my bag with the meat they had eaten and threw away. Roll up the blanket and tie it to your backpack.

Picking up my backpack, I began to look around for the horseshoe prints they had left behind. At this point, I thought with my undeveloped brain that I would be able to get out of this swamp as long as I found the traces of their walk.

The swamp is getting hotter and hotter, and I've noticed that there are a lot of crocodiles in the swamp. To be on the safe side, I found a twig to use as a cane. At least not with bare hands. But I'm really afraid that a crocodile will jump out of the water while walking. I'm not sure if I can kill it now.

I tried to run, but after running a few meters, I gave up decisively, and I can't remember how long it has been since I was stabbed that day, but the wound still hurts.

I couldn't help but hesitate. Now is it time to go back or move on.

Maybe I've gotten into trouble enough to kill me. Edwin didn't want to call me back, it was obvious. Edwin must have sent that old man to send me here, but at least find a reliable guy to send me to a place where I can live, what are these three guys? Damn it!

Heading back? I'm not sure I'll ever make it out of the frenzied wilderness south of Roquemodan, and the icy and snowy land. What about moving forward? Maybe it's a little safer here...... If I can survive this swamp, I should be able to find a villager.

As I walked, I pondered last night's conversation, and suddenly I felt that although I was abandoned, maybe this is why I am still alive.

Night quietly shrouded the swamp, and the moon illuminated the way forward. I didn't want to stop, not to mention that I couldn't find a little more grounded land where I could rest for the night.

At this moment, in the bright moonlight, I suddenly noticed a mess of footprints in front of me. Walk up quickly, and it turns out to be the embers left behind by camping!

I looked around, then touched the fire that had been extinguished, and it was completely cold. It seems that they have been gone for a long time, but I should be in the right direction.

Dropping off the package, I need a break. There are a lot of mosquitoes in the swamp, but I can't care about that much anymore.

In the haze, I felt a drop of water on my face. He snapped open his eyes and looked around. There were no winds and lightning, only rain that gradually fell, and it became more and more dense.

With nowhere to hide, I had to wrap myself in a blanket.

Watching the rain get heavier and heavier, I suddenly felt a shock in my heart and the whole person jumped up! Desperately looking for the direction they came from.

Where am I from? The messy footprints in front of me seemed to have been wiped away by the rain. Stand there staring in the direction of the fire. I can't care about more, I must not lose my bearings!

Wrapped in a blanket, I walked forward with one foot deep and one foot shallow, and the further I went, the shallower the footprints!

Eventually, the footprints were completely erased, as if they had never been seen.

The rain was heavier.
