2.6---- Potions 101
On time for the first time in my life.
The setting sun shone in, and the soft light shone directly on my blanket. I lazily opened my eyes, stretched out from my original circular pose, stretched my back, and yawned.
After a super-failed flower picker, Mina went by fairly smoothly for the rest of the day. Most of the time I was sleeping, but it seemed to me that the sun was very warm and comfortable, and in this case I could not stay awake and concentrate. Ha
It's much quieter in the whole building now. There used to be a row of adventurers of all kinds outside the door, but now there was only one customer left in the store, quietly rummaging through the potions on the shelves.
Tori, "The Pride of the Village", Human Teenager, Level 10.
Well, she didn't impress too much. The only one I've seen so far who is lower in rank than Mina, but at least she has a title. Teens may sound like a strange class and probably not a very popular one, though. Maybe that's all she has to choose, or maybe she's secretly super strong. Speaking of cows, I haven't checked Mina's information yet.
Mina, human, level 11.
Ah, she sucks. I get it. There aren't even classes for teens, although it may be teens. I'm not very good at distinguishing age, but she looks young? Maybe there are more requirements, unlike I know how things work here. If only I could get some kind of tutorial.
Teenage Torrey checked the potions in stock, grabbed a bottle, and quietly walked to the counter.
"Hello! Welcome to the Adventurers' Guild! How can I help you? Mina said happily.
"Uh, I want to buy this potion." Tori stammered nervously. We can clearly see that you want to buy the potion tori and put it together.
"Alright! Is that all? Mina asked with a smile.
"Ah, no, I'd like to join the guild if I could." As she spoke, her voice getting quieter and quieter, almost completely gone.
Mina didn't miss a beat. "Absolutely! In the Adventurer's Guild, anyone can join! She ducked behind the counter, rummaged through several drawers, and pulled out a piece of paper with the applicant's information written on it. I just want to start by asking a few questions. You know how to check your status, right? β
"Of course, it's good to be serious." Tori replied.
Wait, didn't Radia mention it when she broke into my dreams? I made a mental note not to forget to try to turn on my state.
"Well, perfect. What is your name, race, class, rank? β
βTo
I, human, teenager, I'm already level 10. Torrey replied, visibly ashamed from the way she spoke quietly. Didn't Mina just use her insight? It says all four.
"Okay......" Mina jotted down the information on a piece of paper and asked the next question. Just ask a few questions and see how prepared you are. Do you know how the quest system works? β
"Well, I guess so, right? Most? Tori said noncommittally.
"Well, that's no." Mina took a deep breath. "Every mission has a level, and the weakest and easiest task is the F level, and that's where you start. You can take on any F-class mission, and none of them should be too much of a challenge, simple things like harvesting five life-sustaining leaf flowers. Babies can do it too," she clenched her fists again. "If you want to try to level up and complete 3 F+ level missions, it's just an E-rank mission, and our guild thinks it's a good entry to the next level, and you'll move up to E-rank! From there, you can repeat the process and continue to rank as long as you're strong enough to actually complete the task. Do you understand? β
Tori definitely didn't understand all this. Of course I didn't. "Uh, yes! Crystal clear! "She lied.
"Perfect!" Mina ticked a box. "Are you familiar with the basics of combat, the rules of adventurers, and the proper potions protocol?"
"Uh, yes, I know the first two. I don't know much about the pharmacy protocol though, so what is it? Tori replied.
Mina's eyes lit up. She cleared her throat violently, took a breath, and began to explain.
"So, potions are extremely important for any adventurer. They can heal you, replenish your mana, make you stronger, make you more resilient, enhance your senses, heal dehydration, set you on fire β but in a good way, I swear! Mina paused, then continued her potions list. There are potions that can harden your skin, make you breathe underwater, make you grow extra arms, reduce your gravity, turn you into slime, make your magic stronger, keep you from sleeping, eliminate pain, hallucinate like crazy, make you luckier, make you harmonize with the gods, turn you into another race, change your gender, give you a better sense of interior design, make your hair grow flowers, make you invisible, make you invisible, make you immune to poison, get you away with it, and that's just the beginning of the potions' effect! "I think she understood Mina's thoughts
And that's not the end of it. "In addition to the potions that can be drunk, there are also throwable potions that give various effects such as acid clouds, poisons, smoke screens, mist watering the garden, and some potion effects that are usually listed above, but within an area. There are also potions that you can apply to a certain area instead of drinking, such as healing ointments, anti-light potions, insect repellent potions, limb elimination potions, etc., which are applied directly to the wound.
But then again, that's just a small fraction of the thousands of potions on the market! Mina finally finished, and luckily, she seemed happy to talk about potions.
It seemed that the explosion of information about the potion effect left Tori at a loss, and she still had enough consciousness to open her mouth to try to ask questions. But she didn't, and Mina didn't give her a chance. Tori had asked about potions, and she was sure to know about them.
"Potions, as magical and useful as they are, are not without limits. They need quite a bit of knowledge to successfully craft a quality potion, most people can only handle two or four potions, and then all the ingredients start to react with their internal mana, and after a few hours they die in agony. So, if you like life, don't drink too much, understand? Mina said,
Her tone was too optimistic for someone to warn of a terrible death. Tori looked shocked, but nodded meekly. "Great! So, uh, the right potion protocol is just that. Don't drink more than two drinks unless you know what you're doing. Oh! Also, don't buy potions that are poorly brewed, as if the brewing ingredients are not good, the effect will be weakened, and there may be terrible side effects. Mina patted her cheek absentmindedly and fell into deep thought.
"Well, yes, I haven't forgotten anything. This is the correct introduction to potions. She said as she ticked another box on the form and looked at it carefully.
"Sign below, and you're a full member of the guild!" Mina said as she handed Tori the applicant information sheet and a piece of charcoal, who rejected the rough pencil. Instead, she lets her fingers glow and signs her name with magic, which is a bit shaky. Flaunt.
"Congratulations and welcome to the Adventurer's Guild! Feel free to take a look at the task board and see if there's anything you like. Mina handed Tori a bronze pin. This password is proof of your membership, don't lose it. It's not a big deal if you do, but it's a hassle for me to find you a replacement, and you won't get a 20% discount on guilds in some shops and restaurants. β
"Uh, thank you. I'll do my best not to lose it. So, am I in the guild now? That's it? Tori asked, she hadn't recovered from the potions rambling.
"Yes! Congratulations! Adventure is the biggest dream of many people, good luck! Mina said happily, and then it dawned on her.
"You buy things too, right? Oh! A potion! For a while..."
"No, it's okay, I'll uh, put this back." Tori said hurtfully. With trembling hands, she took the life potion back to the shelf, almost trotting towards the door.
"W-no! Never mind! You can safely drink a potion without dying! Mina yelled, and collapsed on the counter. I can't do that anymore......" she whispered, and began to gently stroke my fur, burying her face in her other arm. It's been a long day for her, and I think I can allow it.
